The doctor prescribed me Percocet and the pharmacy gave me the generic which is oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325. What's the difference in the 2? Also idk why the pharmacy gave me the generic, can they change it? ## Under current U.S. laws, your pharmacy has to give you the generic, if one is available, unless you are paying cash for a medication and ask them to give the name brand. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, so you have received the correct medication. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have cervical stenosis of the neck with a bulging disc. I also have spinal compression and severe pain f...

My doc has been prescribing me percocet 10 mg. And now he prescribed me oxycodone 5mg. Which is stronger? The percocet 10's i have been taking for almost 2 years and i told him that they wasn't working that's when he prescribed me the oxycodone 5'mg. And they aren't working either. I am taking pain medication for surgery's . Since the oxycodone 5'mg aren't working what should i ask for. Now hydrocodone doesn't agree with me. It makes me sick.and i would prefer to stick with oxycodone. What should i ask for ? ## Percocet is actually a combination medication that contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, because the Acetaminophen helps increase the efficacy of the Oxycodone. So, if you were taking it, there should have been two dosages listed, such a 10/325...

I was prescribed Percocet 5/325 for shingles. Then my Dr switched it to oxycodone 5/325. What is the difference between the two? ## To me it just sounds like they switched you from the brand name to the generic which contains the same active ingredients and doses. Do you have any other details about the new prescription such as a NDC number or manufacturer name? ## Percocet has Tylenol in it and oxycodone does not... ## Diamond88 you are right but I want to expand on your message just a bit. Percocet does have Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) in it, but it also contains Oxycodone as an active ingredient. Straight Oxycodone is different than Percocet. So, in other words ... Percocet = Acetaminophen + Oxycodone ... Oxycodone is a drug in and of itself which is sometimes an...

my Dr has changed my medication fron norco to percocet, and now my feet and ankles are swelling severely. What is the difference between hydrocodone and oxycodone? ## They are both narcotic analgesics, however, the Oxycodone is stronger than they Hydrocodone. Oxycodone, by itself, doesn't usually cause peripheral edema, however, it could be the Acetaminophen, since it can sometimes cause people to retain fluids and, if that is what is causing it, it would have also happened with the Norco. Have you consulted your doctor? Whenever edema occurs, it is very important to discover what is causing it, since it can be a sign of other serious medical conditions. Even swelling of the feet and legs can be a sign of congestive heart failure. ## This isn't listed as a common side effect in ...

seem to be getting confused between the differences as I did think both were opiates ## Hello, Todd! How are you? I'm sorry about your confusion and I'm happy to help clear it up for you. Oxycontin contains the opiate Oxycodone in a time released formulation. However, Percocet contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen. Oxycodone is also available as a regular release formulation and an instant release, called Roxicodone and Oxy IR, respectively. The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been prescribed Belbuca 150 mcgs to take in addition to Percocet 10/325 tid. Should this provide...

I've been taking percocet 7.5/350 mg. for 3 yrs. I was recently prescribed morphine 15mg-cr and I am not getting much pain relief from the morphine. I thought and was told morphine is stronger than percocet but I got more relief from the percocet than I do from the morphine. I of course plan on telling my dr. asap but was just woundering in the meantime. ## Actually, Oxycodone is one and half times stronger than Morphine, plus the Percocet also contained Acetaminophen, which helps the Oxycodone to work better. And not every medication works for everyone that tries it, so it could just be that the Morphine isn't effective for you and you may need to switch back to Oxycodone, or Percocet. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Morphine ER is a extended release where as Perc...

Do they work the same? Is Oxaydo as good as the Percocet? Do they do the same thing? What is the highest dose they come in? I am not used to taking these, I just got them yesterday. ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, but Oxaydo only contains the Oxycodone. The FDA warns that they both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Percocet is available in a maximum dose of 10mgs of Oxycodone with 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Oxyado is only available in a maximum of 7.5mgs. Though Oxycodone itself, in other forms, is available in higher doses. What makes these 2 medications different? ## Hello, Lucky! How are you? Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, while Roxicodone only contains the Oxycodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The Acetaminophen and Oxycodone combination is also available under the name Roxicet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What can i ask my dr to give me to take along with my percocet 10s? I stay in pain. i go to a pain dr and i am currently doing inj's. in my neck first, and then the back and i need something more for the pain. I thought about a pain patch. Would that help? ## Yes, you don't want to keep increasi...

What is the difference between the Percocet M's and V's and the K9's? I know Percocets dont come in 30mg even though everyone refers to them as that. I am just curious as to the difference between them or is it just the companies that make them put differnt markings on them? ## Yes, Percocet contains both Acetaminophen and Oxycodone and they are only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Oxycodone. The ones you are referring to just contain Oxycodone, in a regular release formulation, so they would be a generic for Roxicodone and you are also correct on what the difference is, they are just manufactured by different companies. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Officially, there is no difference between them. The different markings are different drug manufactur...

How are you? They are different medications. Percocet contains Oxycodone with Acetaminophen, while what you've currently been prescribed contains Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen. However, dizziness, nausea and vomiting can be side effects of all narcotic opiates, so you may still experience such symptoms with this one, as well. There is also a...

what is the difference between percocet and vicodin? wanted to know what makes the drugs different don't they do the samething? ## Hello, Glo! How are you? The NIH lists Percocet as containing Oxycodone with Acetaminophen, while Vicodin contains Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen. So yes, they treat the same conditions, but are different medication formulations. Not every medication works for everyone that tries it, so there are usually several available in any given treatment category, thus your doctor can try a different one, if you don't respond to the first you try. The FDA classifies these as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I ca...

What is the difference between these 2 narcotics? Percocet contains the active ingredients Acetaminophen + Oxycodone. Very similar to Tramacet. To view information on these two ingredients please follow the link below... As you can see from the active ingredients listed above, Tramadol and Oxycodone seem to make the difference between these two narcotics. I personally don't believe either one has any benefit over the other, but it would all depend on how your body copes with the slight difference in each one that determines which one suits you best. Do you have any more questions or concerns? If so, please p...

What is the difference between percocet ip204 and percocet? ## Hello, Reb! How are you? Both of these tablets contain 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, so the only difference is that they've been manufactured by different companies, which is very common with generic medications. When more than one company manufactures a medication, it creates market competition to help keep prices lower. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Manufacturer: Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals National Drug Code (NDC): 00406-0512 Inactive Ingredients: crospovidone microcrystalline cellulose povidone corn starch silicon dioxide stearic acid Learn More: Acetaminophen + Oxycodone Details I hope this info helps to answer your question!

I was taking hydrocodone 7.750 now they have me on norco 10/325. I don't feel that the new medication is working as well, I get really upset stomach aches and also takes long to heal my pain which I have two bad disc the pain is so bad like if I'm about to give birth or if someone is tearing my back apart, can somebody help me please. ## All of these are opiate analgesics, but Tramadol is the weakest of what you've listed, Hydrocodone would be next and Oxycodone is the strongest of these. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, if the Norco isn't working, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying Oxycodone or Percocet, which combin...

What is the difference between Norco, Percocet and Lortab? I have a script for all three. I have cancer and wondered which one is the strongest. I don't need all three pain meds if one is better than the other. Thank you. ## Hey CLM, the Norco and Lortab both contain the active ingredient hydrocodeine so basically the same medicine just different brand name. Unless they are a different dose 5/325 vs 10/325 then they are the exact same medication. Percocet contains oxycodone as the active narcotic and is stronger than the other two you mentioned. One may work better than the other for you personally but Percocet is the stronger of them. I hope this helps and the best of luck! ## Sorry for the typo, norco and lortab contain hydrocodone ## Lortab, and Norco both contain Acetaminophen, ...

Can anyone tell me the difference between percocet pills M & A. I'm about to b prescribed them by my Dr. But have heard horror stories of people ending up HOOKED! Is one of them better than the other to NOT get hooked please help quick so I can ask Dr. For one or other. Thank you all very much. ## All Percocet contains the active ingredients Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, so it all has the same habit forming potential, since the Oxycodone is a very potent narcotic. However, I am not sure by what you mean by the M & A pills? Could you please clarify?

Out of curiosity what is stronger Percocet 7.5 (325 mg) or Oxycodone 10 mg Immediate Release (IR)? I know the only difference between these two is one has Acetaminophen and one doesn’t. The 7.5 mg Perc didn’t say if it was IR or (Extended Release) ER. If needed more details I’ll explain replying to your post(s). Just trying to have an idea. ## Percocet is immediate release, and even though the Acetaminophen does boost its efficacy for some people that take it, the 10mg Oxycodone is still stronger. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No. That’s perfect thanks! Had 2 surgeries in the past (1...

I've been on oxycodone 10mg for several years. My pain management doc has been reducing my prescription by 5 pills each month to get me down to just 120 per month. Next month I will be at the 120 mark. I've been complaining as that 1 less per day makes a difference in managing my pain daily. A few months ago my pharmacy switched their supplier and the new pills won't cut. They literally shatter on one side leaving me about 3/4 of a pill & crumbs. So now my doctor is suggesting I go on Percocet 10/325mg. I know the 325 is acetaminophen. But what is the difference between Oxy & Percocet? I'm not a fan of taking that much acetaminophen daily without an end in sight. Is the Percocet 10/325mg is stronger than Oxy 10mg? The same? Unless it's stronger, I don't k...
