What Is The Difference Between Cr And Er

I take generic Sinemet 25/100. What is the difference between Rytary and Sinemet, besides price? ## There is no different, both the CR and ER just designate them as being time released formulation of the medication, according to the NIH, otherwise, the active ingredients and the way they act in the body are the same. If one is too expensive, there is no harm in trying the cheaper versions, all are still approved by the FDA. The typical side effects of this medication are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, rash, hiccups, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I jus refilled my Diltiazem 120 CR and they gave me Diltiazem 120 ER. I didn't take it last night because I don't know what the difference is. ## Please don't skip dosages of these types of medications, for any reason, you could put yourself in serious, life threatening danger! Skipping doses of such hypertension/cardiac medications may cause a rebound effect, which could result in severely elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which may lead to stroke or heart attack! That said, there is no difference in the medications, both the CR and the ER are just different abbreviations that designate it as a time released medication. Have you contacted your doctor? If you really skipped a dosage, then you need to do so, your blood pressure may be higher than normal and it may requi...

I've been taking percocet 7.5/350 mg. for 3 yrs. I was recently prescribed morphine 15mg-cr and I am not getting much pain relief from the morphine. I thought and was told morphine is stronger than percocet but I got more relief from the percocet than I do from the morphine. I of course plan on telling my dr. asap but was just woundering in the meantime. ## Actually, Oxycodone is one and half times stronger than Morphine, plus the Percocet also contained Acetaminophen, which helps the Oxycodone to work better. And not every medication works for everyone that tries it, so it could just be that the Morphine isn't effective for you and you may need to switch back to Oxycodone, or Percocet. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Morphine ER is a extended release where as Perc...

I am taking verapamil SR 240mg. A lot of drug plans only offer it as ER. What's the difference? ## There is no difference, they are both just abbreviations that denote it as being a time released formulation. ER= extended release SR= sustained release You may also see it denoted with the abbreviations: XR = extended release and CR = controlled release. However, as I said, they all mean the same thing. Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension, angina and other cardiovascular problems. Common side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. What's the difference between Morphine sulfate ER, CR, and SR. I am on Oxycontin and want to change to the generic form. ## Whats the differances between morphine sulfate er, cr, and sr. Thanks I am on oxycontin and want to change to one that has a generic, since oxy is nolonger thk Richard ## There is no difference, each abbreviation that you listed is simply a different way of denoting that the Morphine in that particular pill is in a time released formulation. ER stands for extended release, CR stands for controlled release, and SR stands for sustained release. You may see some others used, as well, such as XR, TR, LA, SA, and etc. Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry doesn't have any one universal abbreviation that they use to designate it, so some manufacturers base i...

i have recently been prescribed ativan which seems to help some, but i am wondering if xanax would work better ## they are roughly equivalent, but Xanax hits the nervous system faster, and gets out of you system faster. Both good for panic, crappy for sleep, wouldn't use either for persistant symptoms of anxiety. ## Just to add some further information.... A lot of it can also depend on the individual involved, one may not work for them, while another might, so sometimes it's really just a matter of trial and error to see which medication works for you. I'm going to include the link for information on them, in case anyone else is looking for more details and wants to know which ones are available. You can learn more Benzodiazepine details here. is there a difference between abg 15 and ms 15 morphine tablets? ## Hello, Erika! How are you? No, they have just been manufactured by different companies. This is very common with generics, it creates market competition to help keep prices lower. The one with the ABG marking is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and the one with the MS M 15 on it is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, but both contain 15mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation. The FDA classifies this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

is there any difference between Metoprolol Tarta 50mg and Metoprolol Succ ER 50 mg? ## The succinate and tartrate just refer to the specific chemical salt that the manufactured used in their process to create the drug, however, if they are both ER, then they are the same and will work in the same manner. The ER stands for extended release, so is not a time released formulation, then there could be a difference, because a regular release formulation won't allow for the same blood pressure or cardiac control, throughout the day. Are there any other comments or questions?

My Doctor has changed me from potassium chloride 20MEQ SR MC to 2 potassium chloride ER 10MEQ ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? They are both the same, a potassium supplement in a time released formulation. The FDA warns that it can be very harsh on the stomach, so it should be taken with food. Did your doctor give any reason for the change? ## Yes my blood test showed my eGFR was 46 and 39 and my Creatinine is 1.39. I am going in for a kidney Renal with bladder test. Also Basic Metabolic Panel. Thank you for answering. Pamela

Hi, Can someone please educate me on the differences between Adderall ER as opposed to Adderall XR? I had no idea there was an ER as well as an XR until yesterday. ## There is no difference. XR stands for extended release, and so does ER. The terms are used interchangeably. ## Ok, but they are in fact two separate medications. I did not know this until yesterday. ## While you may be seeing two different medications, due to them being different doses, or being manufactured by different companies, at heart, just as Sean said, they are still the same time released formulation of Adderall (mixed Amphetamine salts). There are several abbreviations that can be used on time released prescription medications, along with XR and ER, you may also see SR, CR, TR, and others. However, they all mean ...

I have been on bupropion SR 100mg tablets twice daily for several years and am pleased with the results. This week my pharmacy filled my 3 month rx with bupropion ER (from 2 different manufacturers, slight color variation) with no mention of the switch other than explaining the color difference. Can I continue to take the ER twice a day? Contact my Dr.? Question the pharmacist? I see from previous posts that the prescribed dosing is usually different for SR & ER. Thanks ## I am not sure where you read that, but there is no difference between the SR and ER, they both just designate it as being a time released formulation of the medication, so the dosage would remain the same. You may also see other abbreviations used for it, such as CR, CD, XR and etc. but they all mean the same thin...

What is the difference between diltiazem CD, diltiazem XR and diltiazem ER? Can you refer me to a website where I could research this information? ## There is no difference, it's just different abbreviations for the same thing, a time released version of the medication, some places will us CR, ER or XR, there is no definitive way that it has to be done. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension and angina. You can read more here: Do you have any other questions? ## Not quite true. These are indeed all timed release versions of diltiazem, but they all use different drug delivery systems and are released into the body at different rates. You can verify this if you look at the professional write-ups on each drug. For example, diltiazem CD, which is generic for t...

What does CR stand for after 10 MEQ? I have one bottle with the CR letters and one bottle with the letter K after 10 MEQ. Are they the same? Susan ## From what I can tell, it seems they are, but you should probably check with your pharmacist to be certain, just in case they are using something different in their labeling system. But the CR usually stands for controlled release and some places also use the K for slow release, which is basically the same thing. Where they both filled at the same pharmacy? ## what is the difference between Potassium CHL Tab 10MEQ CR and Potassium CL 10MEQ ER? ## Received refill of Pot Chloride tab 10 meq cr when always previously rec'd 10 meq er. Is there a difference and should I be concerned? Thank you!

is there a difference between alprazolam XR and alprazolam SR with both 2mg? ## No! Both the XR and SR are just different abbreviations that stand for the same thing, they denote it as a controlled release medication. Some other abbreviations used for the same thing are ER and CR. Do you have any other questions? ## xr (extended release) cr (controlled release) and er (again, extended release) as far as i can tell means that instead of digesting fast with a short half life and giving your body the drug all at once, it will release into your body a little bit at a time. i could be wrong, but i dont think i am. ## sr is probably (slow release) also ## I was getting Alprazolam xr round purple, now I'm seeing a different doctor and he gave me Alprazolam 2mg. white oblong shape. trying to find out the difference between divalproex500mg dr and divalproex 500mg er ## There actually is no difference, they are just different abbreviations that mean the same thing. The DR stands for delayed release and the ER stands for extended release, they both just denote that the medication is in a time released formulation, so it isn't released all at once, when it's taken. You may also see it abbreviated as SR, for sustained release, CR for controlled release or just XR. Divalproex, also known as Valproate Semisodium, is most commonly used to treat manic episodes of Bipolar Disorder. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, weight gain and decreased coordination. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments?
