Claymidicine root canal done week ago this is my 3rd antibiotic. Swellen still there. Barley open jaw. ## Root canals can be very complicated procedures that can easily become infected. I have a swollen jaw that the pain has moved into my neck. will the hydrocodon-acetaminophn 10-325 help relieve the pain and swelling. ## Hello, Steve! How are you? It may help with the pain, since it is classified by the FDA as a narcotic analgesic, but it will not help with the swelling, or any possible infection that has caused this issue, that will require other medications, as deemed appropriate by your doctor, or dentist. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. I strongly urge you to consult your doctor, or dentist, as infections that are spreading could become dangerous. Has there been any change?

I had puss leaking from the gums but the dentist did not drain it. He just extracted my bottom row wisdom tooth and gave me Amoxicillin 500 MG 4x. The tooth extraction was about $541, does that sound to high for one tooth? I used all the drug and it seemed to help but I relapsed. My inner cheeks are swollen and it seems to be slightly swollen along my jawline. I had that before taking any prescription so it's not an allergic reaction. Also around my mouth feels a little swollen. What should I do next? The second time I went to the Dentist he didn't prescribe me anything and said the swelling was okay. He never mentioned my inner cheek swelling even though you can't miss it. Should I try another dose of Amoxicillin or something else or maybe 2 antibiotics? I'm on the verg...

I have swollen gums around my teeth in the front lower jaw accompanied by pulsing pain. It started after I bit into a candy bar. Can oxytetracycline be used for a tooth infection? ## It is an antibiotic that can be used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, so it should be taken according to your PCP's instructions. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? Have you consulted a dentist?

Can't this be use for swollen gland under my jaw due to sinus drainage? ## it will help with the pain but not so much for swelling. try alleve or motrin for swelling.and an ice pack ## @Tissue, RE (post #1): Acetaminophen is an anti-inflammatory drug, so I don't see how it wouldn't help with the swelling. If it didn't, that would certainly contradict its drug classification, no? Hydrocodone on the other hand will probably only help with the pain aspect. However if you're (original poster) on the lookout for other anti-inflammatory agents to help ease a swollen lymph node, I would encourage things like herbal tea, ginger, raw coconut oil, and raw honey, along with Turmeric. Certain Essential oils may also prove to be beneficial depending on which one's you work wi...

In July of 2017, i was admitted in the hospital for fluid overload, (I am on dialysis) my primary doctor was there and ordered xrays for my chest and had said my chest was clear and he left. But the other residents lied to me and said that i had pneumonia. And they proceeded to give me bags of levoflaxacin through if. Since I've been home, i am experiencing a strange discharge, my jaw is swollen on my left side, i had high blood pressure, lupus, pacemaker and on dialysis. It is October and have not taken one blood pressure pill because my pressure drops significantly during dialysis, i believe it is because of the levoflaxacin. I was given medication that i did not want or need and i guess that this is ok because I am powerless to do anything about this. I am angry because I am stil...

Hi - I have thyroid issues, and within the last three years my thyroid has became very active. I was told I had hyper when I was 15 and now I will be turning 22 this December. But just in last three years I have noticed that my teeth have become really bad. Decaying of my molars, sensitive to hot and cold, and jaw pain. My wisdom teeth are growing in but my dentist in Burlington (Pearl Dental) says that my wisdom teeth will not affect any other tooth unless it scrapes the others. My gums were also tender and swollen for about a week. I was wondering if having a really overactive thyroid would cause these problems? I should also tell you that my doctor is very worried that I could have a heart attack at any moment. I am dizzy, can not sleep, always hungry, losing weight fast, some days m...

I began taking this medication on Sunday by Monday my jaw line and neck were swollen soo bad.. Went back to ER because I became worried he said that the medicine was fine.. It is now day 4 and I am still so swollen on my jaw tooth still tender and my throat is so sore from the swelling and itching.. Am scared at this point but not sure what else to do.. ## Has there been any change, yet? The general rule for antibiotics, according to NIH studies, is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking them for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. If there is no change, by that point, it might not be the right antibiotic to help you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness,...

I took Prolia and I have severe discomfort in my mouth. I am afraid that Reclast will do as much harm as Prolia. The doctor wants me on Reclast but I am very afraid of the jaw problem and the pain in my mouth is horrible. My tongue and my lips have given me some kind of reaction allergic and feels swollen. I am also afraid of losing some teeth. ## Hello, Lala! How are you? It is a different type of drug, but to be honest, there have also been a lot of issues reported by those that have tried it. The best suggestion I can make is to go in and sit down with your doctor and have a heart to heart covering your fears and concerns. Have them give you the full side effect information, so they can help you make a fully informed decision. And remember, no matter what your doctor 'wants' ...

I have a lot of tension and developed cold sore a stiff neck and swollen glands under my jaw. Would Anaerobyl 400 work for this? ## Hello, Heidi! How are you? No, it will not. A cold sore and its accompanying symptoms are caused by a herpes simplex virus, so to lessen its duration or prevent future outbreaks, you need an antiviral medication, such as Acyclovir. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. If you are under a lot of stress and tension, you may want to take it regularly to prevent future outbreaks. I started Augmentin 875-125 on Friday, today is Monday. The day before, Sunday, my chin/jaw was very itchy. It was a deep itch and not a surface itch. Last night before I went to bed, I noticed that my lower lip felt/looked a little swollen and also saw that I had several little blister type spots under my lip and down to mid-chin. I am a "zit picker", so I just gently popped them it seemed there was alot of liquid in them for how tiny they were. Now this morning, Monday, I still felt that little swollen feeling on my lower lip and figured it was from the popping of these tiny blisters the night before. When I looked at my face, I saw that there were around triple of the amount of these tiny blisters than there were last night and they were more spread out. Again, I gently poppe...

I'm in afghanistan working on a project and can't make it home for another 3 weeks. My crowned tooth has become infected and has my jaw swollen. I have taken 3 doses of doxycycline and waiting to take my 4th dose (Every 12 hrs). I have yet to see improvement and the pain can be immense. I have to take (4) 200 mg ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours to ease the pain. I rinse with salt water and peroxide on a continual basis. When can I expect to see results? Medication is limited and I'm trying to wait until I'm able to go home to see the dentist. As soon as I step off the plane, I'm heading straight to the dentist. Please advise. ## Hi, Chuck! i have a painful tooth..my jaw is swollen and i have a white pustular bump that oozes when i press on my gum ## Hello, Marie! How are you feeling? Craztronin contains the active ingredient Azithromycin, which is an antibiotic and yes, it can be used to treat a dental infection. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more Craztronin details here. However, it should only be used if it has been prescribed by your dentist or doctor, since you do need to make sure that you have enough to complete a full course of treatment to properly eradicate the infectious bacteria. Additionally, it will not correct whatever underlying problem caused the infection, so you also still need to see your dentist for follow up care, otherwise the infection wil...

Swollen sore abcess tooth with a lump under jawbone in area of abcessband it's Christmas Eve no dentist open I have cipro about five will they help ## Hello, DJ! How are you? I'm sorry about the dental problem you're having. According to the FDA, Cipro is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Though it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, the main issue is that you won't have enough to take a full course of the antibiotics to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. I started taking Amoxicillin earlier this week for a throat infection. About 2 or 3 days after I started taking it, I started to develop jaw pain that comes and goes. Somebody told me it was just nerve pain. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this while taking Amoxicillin? ## Hey Amanda, sorry to hear about the jaw pain you're having. I don't know if it could be related to nerve damage or not, but I just wanted to inform you that I have come across studies from ehealthme indicating that jaw pain was associated with the use of Amoxicillin in 411 out of 22,270 patients. So although relatively less common, it does appear to be a possibility. Amoxicillin also lists joint pain/inflammation, swollen lymph glands (nodes underneath the jaw), and difficulty with swallowing on...

I had a tooth extraction. Can I delay my Prolia injection by one month? ## It would be best to discuss it with your doctor, and follow their instructions. The concern is that medications like Prolia have been known to cause osteonecrosis of the jaw, so proper dental care, and maintaining good dental hygiene while taking it are very important. Was your dentist aware that you are on it? The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, back ache, muscle aches, rapid weight gain, and swollen glands in the neck. Are you on any other medications? ## Do not take Prolia if you do not want to loose all of your teeth. I now have none of my natural teeth and in the middle of implants which is extremely expensive.
