I've taken gabapentin,norco, and then oxycodone. I was taken off the oxycodone recently because I was talking the max six pills a day and my pain was still unbearable. I have five bulging disc and a pinched nerve in my back. I have spinal stenosis. This has caused pain throughout my left side down to my feet. I'm also a diabetic with nerve damage. I'm scared to do multiple rounds of injections in my back. Is there anything I can take to help me at least get some rest. I was prescribed oxycodone acetaminophen 5-325 for pain; another doctor told me to take 1000 mg of acetaminophen for the same pain. Which is stronger? ## @Demetri, Oxycodone in and of itself is significantly stronger than Acetaminophen, so I'm not sure if there's any reliable or honest way to accurately compare the two, outside of trying each one for yourself at different times in the day and noticing the big difference in pain relief. I'm not a Dr. but I also wouldn't encourage anyone to take such a large dose of Acetaminophen on a regular basis. They narrowed down the max dose in meds to 325mg for a good reason (to do with decreasing one's risk for liver damage/failure). Which one is stronger? ## 5mg oxycodone, according to the equivalence table I have in front of me, is equal to about 20mg hydrocodone. Therefore the combination drug containing oxycodone should be roughly twice as strong as the one containing hydrocodone. These drugs are only available in the UK in their pure form, not adulterated with paracetamol like yours. As I have written elsewhere, I really don't see the point of the combos. Unless you are suffering a fever, in which case paracetamol will ease the body temperature. But why take the non-narcotic unless you really need it? My dr. Changed my 20 mg Oxycodone for Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 10/325 Which is stronger because the 10/325 isn't working. ## The 20 mg. is 2 times stronger than the 10mg. The 325 part is just Tylenol . The 20 mg is oxycodone which the very strong part that kills your pain . Your Dr. Seems to have cut your pain strength in half. ## @Tessa, I agree with Smith, in that your doctor nearly cut your dose/pain relieving effects in half (even after taking into consideration the 325mgs of Acetaminophen - which is very subtle in my opinion). Subtracting that extra 10mgs of Oxycodone was the biggest alteration and is probably the reason why you're not feeling like the Percocet is working. This is to answer the question is there a higher dose form of norco the answer is yes it's called Zohydro it was made here in San Diego and has been approved by the Fda and Sea but it might be hard to find and the insurance company might not cover it, it's and extended version kinda like oxycontin for oxycodone and it comes in different doses. Which is stronger? ## The oxy is stronger but who knows your body may b used 2 the vicoden. But if he is allowing u 2 take 2 @ a time it would b better if he would just give u the percocet 10/325 as it would b as effective with 1/2 the amount of aspirin. i'm on ocycontin 60mg 4xs daily my break through pain med is either hydrocodone 10-650 or oxycodone w acetaminophen 5-325 which is more effective for pain relief i have to chose one ## At that narcotic dosage, 10mgs of Hydrocodone, versus 5mgs of Oxycodone, they are roughly equivalent. The only way to see which one may be more effective for you is to actually try one of them and see how it works. The Hydrocodone option does have more Acetaminophen in it. so you may also want to base your decision on how concerned you are about that, since it can cause some stomach problems.
