What Is Rifagut

I have just read that rifaximin has two forms ie an alpha form which is anti-microbial and a beta form which is not anti-microbial and that some forms found outside the USA such as India are a combination of the two which would be less effective. I have been buying the rifagut brand by Sun Pharma without realizing this and would like to know please which form of rifaximin this is and which brands are the alpha, beta or combination forms?

i have been given rifagut tab 200 mg twice a day as i am suffering from stomach problem.i hae been given providac for healthy bacetria.m x-ray and ct scan reports are normal.i have gas in lower abdomen and sometimes feel acidity.please help ## Rifagut contains the active ingredient Rifaximin which is an antibiotic and the only way it will help is if you were infected with the H. What does the actual tablet and packaging look like? Worried about counterfeit from India. ## I found some mixed information on the manufacturer of this tablet. Many sources state that it is manufactured by "Lupin", but other sources stated that it was manufactured by "Sun Pharma". Upon visiting Lupin's webpage, I wasn't able to locate this drug in their product list. But I did find that if you run a search on google images for "lupin rifagut" you will find a photo of the packaging and blister packs for these tablets. On the other hand, if you take a look at Sun Pharma's product list (who is based in India), you will find Rifagut on the list: That said, I'm really not sure which source is more reliable. What is the U.S equivalent of Rifagut/Rifaxin (a drug available in India) that you can find over the counter? ## I'm sorry, but there are no oral antibiotics like this available over the counter in the U.S. They can be obtained via doctor's prescription only.
