I was prescribed by a doctor to tale proton 40. However i did not understand first the instruction of the pharmacist, all i was able to understan was to tale it BEFORE FOOD. And so i did it last night before eating, but now that I read the leaflet, it shows that i should be drinking it 1 hour before breakfast, i already have breakfast, is it still ok to take it? Because it says here that if your forgot to take proton 40, do not tale it late but continue it with the next regular dose on your dosing schedule. Because if i do that, it will turn out that i interrupt the treatment, although i just started taking it up last night (which was a bad move)-.. ## Hello, J! How are you? I have been prescribed pantoprazole 40mg to take one hour before my evening meal. The pill is small, yellow in colour with no markings. It is manufactured by Teva UK. I have been taking this medication for 16 days now and I'm not sure whether it is working. The reflux, gas and nausea have mostly gone, yet I still feel a dull pressing pain in in my upper stomach area. It is not as frequent as before, but it is still present. Is this normal? Everything I read online says I should be cured by now but I know we are all different and my doctor has prescribed the pills for 8 weeks in total. Does it sometimes take a bit longer for the pain to leave or should I request a change to my prescription? thank you. ## I'm not sure what your read, but 16 days is kind of soon to expect it to wor...

Does this pill need to be taken on any empty stomach? How long can you eat afterwards? ## Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to help prevent or treat conditions such as ulcers, heartburn, GERD or gastritis. It can be taken with, or without food, but most people take it just before a meal, so that it has a chance to help when they eat, which is when their stomachs are going to be producing more acid. However, if your doctor or pharmacist has provided you with specific instructions on when to take it, then you should follow their advice. Is there anything else I can help with?
