Will Metronidazole 500 mg help my boyfriend if he has a UTI ??? We have not been with anyone else so we know it is not a venereal disease, but do not know what it is and they want $450.00 co-pay at the hospital. In other words will the Metronidazole 500 mg take it away if it is a UTI???? ## Hello, Nicole! How is your boyfriend doing? If he is showing symptoms, he needs to see a doctor. It isn't good, nor safe to try to diagnose and treat it yourselves. Metronidazole might not be the right medication to treat his problem. If he goes to the ER, they cannot demand the copay upfront, they have to see him and send him a bill, at a later time. Rather than put his life at risk, that would be the best thing to do, if you don't have a regular doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

My dentist perscribed Amox Clav 875 mg every 12 hrs and Metronidazole 500mg every 8 hrs for infection. I am having chills, nausia, and feel dizzy. Is this to much antibiodic for one individual? I am alergic to ALL mician groups; would this have an effect with these two pills? ## Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, are the active ingredients in Augmentin, both it and the Metronidazole are antibiotics. The dosage can vary, depending on the severity of the infection, so if yours was pretty bad, then this dosage and combination is not really surprising. As to the chills, nausea and dizziness, those are not allergic reactions, but they can be normal side effects of these medications. You may also experience diarrhea. If they are too severe and bothersome, you should contact your dentist. Are t...

I was taking metronidazole for a week, 3 pills a day 500 mg I believe for an infection or whatever it was in my stomach. I was in the ER and had a catscan with that barium liquid. They saw I had a hiatal hernia and swollen lymph nodes in my stomach. I've been off the metronidazole for about 2 days now and I still feel weird, mainly coughing, white stuff on tongue and spider like veins in my mouth. I also had diarrhea today which was why I started it in first place. So I'm very worried that maybe whatever I was treating came back or is it still side effects of the medication? I recently turned 18 so this is really scaring and upsetting me. I was never this sick before. ## Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm sorry about what you've been experiencing and that you're so scare...

Today, I was prescribed Metronidazole 500 MG; 2 pills a day. I didn't even think about eating before I took them and for about 4 hours now I've felt very nauseous and even threw up a few times. Is there anything I can eat, drink, or do to help the nausea? It's the worst feeling in the world. I've also been very drowsy and dizzy. And one more thing, I have a VERY hard time swollowing pills and I'll usually freak out right when I go to swollow and choke or spit it up. For this exact pill if I were to crush it up and put it in a drink what drink would you suggest for the awful taste of the pill? I got two medications this morning metronidazole 500 mg 4 tablets and azithromycin 500 mh 2 tablets. I waited til 7pm to take the azithromycin I took both pills. So now I waited a hour before eating so should I take the metronidazole 4 pills all together while eating my food? Am I supposed to take all the pills I got all in one day? Wait and see what happens all 7 days? That’s what the people at the pharmacy told me, take all the pills on the same day. ## Dede, If the pharmacy instructed you to take all the pills on the same day then that is what you should do, but it sounds to me like you are still unsure of what the instructions are. If you are not sure on what you should be taking it is better to contact your pharmacy or doctor than to guess and take too much or too little of t...

My period was due on 02/13/2016. I started taking metronidazole 500 mg tablets (2 per day for 5 days) and my period did not come. Is something wrong with me? ## Hello, Jane! How are you? Actually, it's very common for antibiotics to cause a longer cycle in some women that take them, so you may not start for a few more days, or until after you finish your course of treatment. If you don't start, at all, within a few days of finishing them, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the other possible effects of antibiotics as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Oh and yes, I have personal experience with this, I usually start around day 27 of my cycle, but that last time I took antibiotics, I didn't start until day 32....

I'm finishing a 7 day, 3 X a day, 500 mg dose of flagyl/metronidazole because I was having pain under the right side of my ribs, abdominal tenderness and I have a lump on the right side of my back which the doc said was muscular. My worst symptoms of the meds were some unsteadiness and abdominal pains (I didn't call my Dr.), now I'm having a few headaches. Does it cause brain cancer, because I read it is carcinogenic? ## If it did cause such an issue, it would not occur that fast. Cancer is generally slow growing. It is most likely just due to the side effects of the medication, which the FDA does list as including headaches, along with nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and stomach pain. However, it never hurts to have such an issue checked out by your doctor to be sure. Are you ...
