Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol, Medrol, Solu-Medrol) is a synthetic glucocorticoid, primarily prescribed for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.[3][4][5] It is either used at low doses for chronic illnesses or used concomitantly at high doses during acute flares. Methylprednisolone and its derivatives can be administered orally or parenterally.[6] Regardless of route of administration, methylprednisolone integra...

I just finished using this for itchy skin at 35+ wks pregnant, i now have a yeast infection am i okay to take a over the counter med for it or one the dr prescribed? ## Hi mandy, Since you are pregnant, I believe you would need to ask your doctor about every medication you are thinking about taking wether it's prescription or OTC. What is the name of the OTC medication you're considering and what are the active ingredients? I'm not sure if you're allowed to take probiotics, but doing so may be able to prevent yeast infections in the future by reinstating good bacteria in your body. Also, apple cider vinegar is a popular alternative for treating yeast infections without medications. Based on my research, Braggs apple cider vinegar is safe for use during and after pregnanc...

My Dr prescribed this yesterday. I have taken a total of 10 pill=40mg. I am terribly sick. Throwing up, diarrhea, extreme headache, my body feels like it's on fire but after taking my temp it only reads 94.7. I feel horrible. Muscle weakness, blurry eyes. Kind of scared, not sure what I should do. ## Those can be side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports, since it is a steroid. You may also experience acne and fluid retention. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If the symptoms get severe, you may need to see your doctor about trying a different medication. What condition is being treated? ## This was prescribed for lupus. It was suppose to help the inflammation of my joints. I stopped taking it after the second day. Horrible side effects for me. It to...

Will this medicine help a sunburn? I used a tanning ban and got really burned all over. I'm on day 5 using a cream prescribed with silver but was wondering if methylprednisolone oral 4 mg would help also? ## Don't take the oral... you'll be suffering side effects of the oral longer than you would of the sunburn.... ## Methylprednisolone will not do anything to alleviate sunburn, or the pain it causes. It is used to treat allergic reactions, inflammation and immune disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, and fluid retention. How did you end up getting burned to badly?

so i have been taking methylprednisolone for three days. I am having pain in my sides/ribs upper back and all the way into my neck and some of my cheek bones. the pain is about a 5 out of 10 on the scale. I have had this problem before with prednisone. what do i do? ## Hello, Courtney! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. The FDA classifies this medication as a steroid and it can cause some pretty annoying side effects, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, headache, acne and weight gain. Have you consulted your doctor? They may have some idea on how to mitigate these effects, or they can let you know if there is something else going on. How long is your course of treatment with it?

I am curious, why not methylprednisolone tab 2 or 4mg is not available in Dublin..since it is used in patients with inflammed tonsils..My Fiance is in Dublin, the doctor prescribed him calvepen which is I saw alot of complaints made by some due to its side effects...with methylprednisolone tablet the inflammation subsides in no time..second day the patient has no sore throat and feels better...And its pnly good 3days..while calvepen 10 days but yet the patient is still complaining of sorethroat, I know its antibiotics.. ## Yes, the main difference here is that while the Methylprednisolone may help with the inflammation, it is not an antibiotic and will do nothing for the underlying infection that is causing the tonsil problem. The side effects from it can also be severe and may include:...

I started taking the medication yesterday and took 6, today i take 5, then 4, and 3, etc so for 6 days total. I am taking this along with Augmentinj 875 mg, every 12 hours. I have had a horrible sinus/ ear infection for at least 3 months and haven't been able to taste food or smell anything. Body aches, headaches, horrible anxiety and terrible fatigue. Mid day yesterday I started feeling so much better, my sense of smell came back last night and I cried. I enjoyed dinner so much I could finally taste food. I've never taken this medication before and was afraid to google it. Upon looking I see many negative things. So far I have had a great experience with this steroid pack and wish I would have taken it sooner. I hope my symptoms don't return or i have withdrawals. I'm a...

This is my second day on this drug and it was wonderful the next day after taking it. Took it for awful pain just below my neck and pain in lower back. Horrible for RA. Second day pain came back in lower back. Hurts, so is it not working now and is this unusual? ## Hello, Jo! How are you? Methylprednisolone is not an analgesic. It is classified by the FDA as a steroid, so while it may relieve pain a little, because it can help relieve inflammation, it will not alleviate all of it and it can cause some serous side effects. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure and weight gain. Was this medication prescribed by your doctor? ## Yes it was prescribed by Dr. And after presidone dident wor well he put me on ...

I was put on the 6 day methylprednisolone pack because of a back injury. I just took my first two tablets this morning. After I took them, I read its bad to take with high blood pressure. I have high blood pressure and take lisinopril for this but it doesn't always control it. Would I be okay just not to take any more of the pills? I only took the two, that's all. I would rather not take this medication after hearing all the side effects. ## Hello, Amy! How are you? How high is your blood pressure? There are cases where it may still be appropriate to take this medication, generally the doctor needs to evaluate whether or not the benefits outweigh the possible risks. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne and edema. Ho...

In the last four months I've been prescribed dosepacks three times by two different doctors plus shots a few months before that. After reading about the dangers im scared but can't undo what is done. Am I in trouble here? ## Doubtful, usually such issues would be noticeable either while taking the dose pack, or shortly after finishing, according to the NIH. Have you experienced any fluid retention? Or sudden weight gain? The FDA lists those as possible warning signs of issues. Are you on any other medications?

I am really scared of these pills i dont consider them to be medication plz answer bak is it ok dat i stopped taking it after one day? ## Hello, Javi! How are you? I'm very sorry about the symptoms you've experienced. However, everything you've described are normal side effects of this medication. The FDA classifies it as a steroid and they can cause some annoying side effects. You may also experience nausea, headache, elevated heart rate, acne and fluid retention. Before stopping it, though, please consult your doctor. It may not be safe for you to stop abruptly, or they may wa...

My Dr prescribed this to me for hedaches I did not know they were steroids until after I took the 1 dose 2 pills for breakfast and 1 for lunch. I did not finish the fist day dose. I do not want to continue on them however I do not know how to take my self off them please help. ## Hi lolypop, Usually for drugs like this, the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off under a doctor's supervision; if possible. However having only taken the medication for 1-6 days, I almost wonder if you'd even experience withdrawals at all...? None the less, if you are concerned I would definitely encourage you to talk with your doctor about setting up a tapering schedule to ensure that everything goes smoothly. My understanding is that some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut...

Hi. I finished a 6 day cycle for poison ivy. The pi is drying up, however I now have hives all along my hip and an itchy rash across abdomen. Could this be a reaction from the meds? At first I thought it was more PI coming out-but looks more like hives and it had been almost 2 weeks since exposure. Thanks. ## Hives can be symptoms of an allergic reaction, as reported by the FDA. Other symptoms may include swollen glands, trouble breathing, and throat/facial swelling. It would be a good idea to inform your doctor to have this checked out, because if you are allergic, you will need to avoid this medication in the future, because such allergic reactions tend to worsen with repeated exposure, there are several NIH articles that you can read that discuss this. Is there anything else I can he...

## I was just prescribed this med. and am afraid to take it. ## Why are you afraid to take it? It is generic prednisone which is a steroiod. You dont want to take it all the time, but it really works for imflammation in the lungs, in the joints, etc. Side effects include massive hunger, dizziness, thirst, among others. ## Methylprednisolone Info Click Here ## How long is Methylprednisol good on the shelf. I have some that was prescribed to me in 2007. I still have some, and have just come down with poision ivy and was thinking of taking it. My dosase is 4MG tablets, and I have 24 of them.

Hi I'm deb, I have been prescribed methylprednisone 4mg for plantar fasciitis in my foot.. take 5 then 4,3,2,then 1 . I've been on methadon 28yrs, I'm afraid to start this if it's going to cause withdrawals any good feedback ? All I here are bad ones ## I had the worst experience imaginable with the dose pack. It was prescribed to be for headaches caused by whiplash from being rear-ended. Now, 7 1/2 long months later, I am finally getting back to normal. It took almost three months for my heart rate and blood pressure to normalize, 5 months for the nausea, dizziness and depression to go away, but I'm still dealing with anxiety. On top of that, I became extremely sensitive to food and/or food additives, and couldn't eat anything except meat, potatoes, rice, eggs a...

I had neck surgery on a disc and after surgery was prescribed this med in January to reduce swelling in my neck and now I'm still having trouble swolling and they put me back on this medicine in March is this normal : had a new disc put in neck ## Did they provide you with a diagnosis? It is highly possible for swelling, or scar tissue to cause problems long after surgery, even when it seems that the rest of the recovering is done. Is the medication helping? The FDA classifies this as a steroid that is used to treat inflammation, allergic reactions and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, weight gain and fluid retention. It's difficult to say what is normal, after such surgery, because everyone is different and will recover a...

my name is kay can my husband take the methylprednisolone 4 mg can he take soma 350 mg with this he is in major pain and this is what they gave him plus 800 mg ibuprofen and tramadol help can't handle the crying. ## Hello, Kay! How is your husband doing? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between the Methylprednisolone and Soma, however, taking Ibuprofen with the Methylprednisolone can increase his risk of stomach ulceration, according to the FDA and taking Soma with Tramadol may increase the amount of sedation he experiences, so he may experience a lot of dizziness and drowsiness. Is there anything else I can help with?
