I take Lyrica for neuropathy. It helps me. When i eat, 15 to 20 min. after it kills the effect of the medicine. So I find out I have to take more than what is prescribed to get to feeling better. Does anyone out there have the same problem. ## Somethings we eat do affect medications, howver that is not a normal problem for LYrica and should not happen everytime you eat. Remember this is not a pain killing medication, so it does work like narcotics or similar meds, this med has a cumulative effect and can take several weeks to reach a therapeutic effect in your body. I would suggest you need to speak to your doctor to get to the root of this problem and make sure you are not taking too much of the medication. ## I have been on neurotin for about 8 years now. And also up to 200 mg of Lyric... ...

I have taken Neurontin at 800mg at 4 times a day for eight years. Also taken Lyrica at 200mg 4 times a day.It helps with pain and neasuea, before i eat and after i eat and it kills the effect of the medicine. So I have to take more than prescribed. So does any body else have this problem. Are any sugestions? I have talked to my doctors about this. They don't listen. They also didn't listen to me about it being adictive. I was right about that. So if anyone can help or tell me how to get help please, please write me back. Thank you. ## The reason they do not see these as being addictive is because they are not actually pain medications, they are not narcotics, so they don't carry the same side effects and addiction as narcotic opiates do. What you experience though, when you ta... ...

I have herniated discs and sciatica. I was referred to a pain management doctor, who prescribed Lyrica. After reading all of these posts, and finding out the side effects, I'm not sure I want to take this medicine. Has anyone had good results with Lyrica, without these side effects? ## I have been using it for about7-8 months for nerve pain caused by intercostal neuritis and it has worked great for me. Of course I still get pain, but it is greatly reduced in both severity and frequency. The side affects are lethargy at first and forgetfullness, but it goes away in a few weeks and to me was definately worth the wait. Weight gain- I am so overweight to begin with and on so many things that can cause weight gain, it is hard to tell, but on a WW, I lose easily if I take it seriously. An... ...

Your wife's mental health is at stake. This is a dangerous side effect. Call her doctor now! ## I have only been on it 4 days and have a horrible cough..I didn't think it was related to the Lyrica until I got on this forum and started reading. ## hi i dont know what if any thing has changed with your wife taking the lyrica, but i am having the same experiance but did nit realize it could be the lyrica until i read your post, i have been moody as all gets, crying all the time depressed to no end, i go into crying and emotional spel... ...

I have been on Lyrica for about 3 weeks now for neuropathic pain. I am an MS patient and the Lyrica is helping. I have had side effects of weight gain and sleepiness. I may have to increase my dosage because I am still having a little pain. Can anyone tell me how long the side effects last and does increased dosages ease your pain more. ## It is hard to say how long the side effects will last, it can vary from person to person, it can also vary according to your dosage and your drug tolerance, for most people it ranges anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. Whether or not a higher dosage will relieve your pain more is another thing that no one can say for sure. Some people get great results from these types of meds and some don't. You will just have to try it and see what happens, and fo... ...

I just started taking Lyrica after being weened off Cymbalta. Cymbalta is horrible and would never,EVER, recommend this medication. Anyway, I suffer from depression also and having severe pain doesn't help. I went to my psychiatrist and told him that I couldn't take the pain any more and want it to end and was baker acted and put in a crisis unit!!! Anyway, I am out and just popping ibuprofen and on lyrica for 2 days now. when will it help?? ## From what I have read it will take about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. Hang in there! ## I have been Lyrica for four weeks. I have started feeling very sad, and thinking of suicide. I have had 5 back surgeries. And am in some pain in the range of 6-7 at all times. I had winged myself off of morphine, because I didn't want to be on the narcotic an... ...

I have nerve damage,shingles,fibromyalgia,Ra.,bursitius,........the list goes on and on! I can;t have Lyrica,Cymbalta,Gabapentin. They are not approved , and they continue to reject approval no matter how mant request are summited. ## I am sorry, who is that is not approving them for you? Your insurance company?? You are not very specific in your post, so it is a little confusion. If they are claiming that these drugs are not approved to treat these types of conditions, then that is incorrect because both Cymbalta and Lyrica are approved by the FDA to treat post-herpetic neuralgia. If you can give me an idea of the type of insurance you have, I can try to research their formulary to see what they will cover for you, so you can discuss other options with your doctor. I also want to make ... ...

white capsule ## Please see Lyrica for more information about this drug. From there you can start a new discussion if you would like. Hope this helps! Jean ## Got a script for Lyrica Wednesday at drs . I am deathly afraid to take this 75mg 1 tablet at bedtime have read all the side effects from tachycardia to weight gain to loss of teeth . Any suggestions ? Any drug less harmful ? ## My neurologist put me on 75, but it was a divided dose: 50 at night and 25 in the morning. I dropped the 25 in the morning b/c I was fine w/o it. 50 mg. keeps the pain from my trigeminal neuralgia away. You might ask for your doc to give you 25s instead of 75s, and then you can figure out your own dose. I've been on it for 2 1/2 years and haven't had any bad side effects. Before I dropped my morning... ...

I have been on Lyrica about 4 months. I also take a long list of other meds for neuropathy. I have had some weight gain, confusion, and forgetfulness, a lot of the same symptoms as MS. Sitting home waiting on disability was worse on me than anything the meds could do. Because of lyrica I am still able to work a 40 hr week. Before, I was in so much pain I didn't want to do anything. I've had great results. Pfizer Connection to Care Program can help with meds for people with no insurance. ## JT. I too have neuropathy(idiopathic)and am currently disabled. My primary pain is severe burning sensation on the bottoms of both feet!! if you have the same, please consider listing all meds(if you are allowed)you are taking for this terrible disease. I'm still looking for pain managemen... ...

It works wonders for my severe pain. Does have side effect for weight gain, but that's ok for me since I have a small frame. It relives my pain. I am not able to work, but I do get great pain relief. I take 600mg a day. ## i need more info on this pill. i already weigh 232 ...

Hi all. I've been taking 300mg of lyrica for 7 mo. which has been a miracle for my spine nerve damage however I have become completely stupid (no memory) and have developed neovascular eye disease. Anyone else have this? Sorry for the post not being very clear lol as I said I'm brain dead! I almost forgot to mention the rash. I've developed a rash on my right calf only. I've been to a lot of drs an all my blood work has been normal. I KNOW it's the lyrica. I can't stop though. When I stopped taking it I was literally bedridden. The Lyrica helps so much with the pain that I've decided he side effects are worth it, at least I can function, even if I do go around in circles most of the time. Other drug companies are coming out with similiar drugs soon hopefully ... ...

IS LYRICA A NARCOTIC. BECAUSE I ASK IS MY PHARMIST SAID IT WAS AND I HAVE BEEN TAKING 200mg 3 TIMES PER DAY AND DID NOT KNOW THAT. SO DOES ANYONE KNOW? Thanks, Wendell Maddox ## Amazing, isn't it? While in the hospital in June, I had a floor nurse try to tell me that it was a Sched. II opiate. Go figure. Susan ## Like I stated in another message, I was sent to pain management doctor for pain and burning on right side after a stroke I had in 2003. I have been taking Hydrocodone and Oxycodone for the pain and discomfort. The pain management doc wanted me to try Lyrica and it started out low dosage and increased to 600 mg per day. It never did anything for my burning or discomfort. It did make me gain weight, was very expensive, and as a side effect to me, it had a profound effect (neg... ...

I TOOK ONE DOSE OF lYRICA, GOT DIZZY DOUBLE VISION, SHAKING, AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THEY CONFIRMED i HAD A SEIZURE DISORDER FROM TAKING LYRICA. ## Lyrica is the 'med from heck', as far as I'm concerned. I've had reactions to meds, but nothing like the one to this med! Normally I know right away if a med is going to cause a problem for me, but Lyrica was different. I took it for 14 days, and on the 15th day, my husband found me sobbing uncontrollably, screaming, being totally irrationational, etc. ....all while hollaring at him to 'do something'. I totally lost it, and couldn't control myself. (my normal demeanor is a calm cool, collected person, who takes the time to educate herself about everything she puts in her body). I called t... ...
