Lorazepam, sold under the brand name Ativan among others, is a benzodiazepine medication.[3] It is used to treat anxiety disorders, trouble sleeping, severe agitation, active seizures including status epilepticus, alcohol withdrawal, and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.[3] It is also used during surgery to interfere with memory formation and to sedate those who are being mechanically ventilated.[3][7] It is also used, al...

Used to taking Watson Lorazepam Actavis Lorazepam not effective! ## Hi sylvia, When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. For this very reason, I believe the differences you are noticing have a lot to do with certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand. I'm frustratingly surprised that doctor's and pharmacists don't mention this to their patients, after giving them a completely different script without prior notice. Have you tried discussing this issue with your doctor yet? Hopefully he can specify a manufacturer for you in the script.

What is the difference between lorazepam 2mg tab qua and lorazepam 2mg tab act? ## Hello, Annette! How are you? Those are abbreviations for the manufacturers, Qualitest Pharmaceuticals and Actavis, respectively. Since this is a generic, it is manufactured by several different companies to help create market competition and try to keep prices down. The FDA warns that this medication may carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

I think most people who take lorazepam are familiar with side effects like any other script, however we also know what works and what doesn't. And I for one am tired of hearing the same explanation that you build up a tolerance. I only have encountered that problem when different mfg merge or deviated from what the formula calls for. ## Agreed. Been on Lorazepam long term and have never seen more mfgr chances in the last 6-8 months, between Actavis/Teva, Leading & Aurobindo, just as my body adjusts, there’s a change. My dosage has always stayed the same. ## Hello, Margaret, and Leebs! How are you both doing? If you are referring to posts on a site such as this, where side effect references are regularly posted for medications, as well as warnings about long-term use, such ...

What is the difference from a Lorazepam with a rx 7 on it from one with a M 321 on it? ## From what I can tell the only difference between these two pills is that they are manufactured by different companies. Additionally the inactive ingredients can slightly differ from one another. Other than that, these are both the same drug and same dosage. Hi, I've been taking lorazepam 0.5 mg once a day for 16yrs. Now my doctor wants me to wean off it, but I'm having a hard time. ## What tapering/weaning method have you been using? Generally, the modern preferred method is to gradually reduce the dose, while spacing doses further and further apart. Stopping too abruptly may create the risk of seizures, according to FDA reports. Are you on any other medications? ## David, I'm sorry to hear about your struggle. Unfortunately it has become a very common complaint with the tightening Restrictions imposed on this class of drug. Although your dose is minimal the length of time will require a very deliberate titration and taper schedule. I would suggest you research the Weismann method for benzodiazepine detoxification. I know from ...

I just wanted to know if alprazolam is generic for xanax,is lorazepam generic for xanax too, since it seems they are both perscribed for the sam e thing ## Although both medications are of the Benzodiazepine drug class, Alprazolam is the one and only generic for Xanax. Lorazepam may also be used for the same purpose, but that does not necessarily mean they are the same drug. Additionally, many patient reviews I've come across, agree that xanax is about twice as strong, but lorazepam has been known to make you more tired and your body more sedated. You can learn more about these drugs on the page for Alprazolam Details & Lorazepam Details I hope this info helps! ## I agree. Xanax, or as it is known generically as alprazolam is a member of the sedetive drug group as Lorazepam (whic...

I have been having anxiety attacks for over a year. Mydoctor has prescribed both Buspar and Lorazepam. The Lorazepam seems to work better than the buspar. I am concerned that this drug may be addictive. Can you help? ## Yes, this is a Benzodiazepine, they are very addictive. That is why a lot of docs will no longer prescribe them except in extreme circumstances and many insurances will not longer cover them, either. Lorazepam is the generic for Ativan. Here is a page with some more information, and I will also copy in the relevant sections here for you, in case you do not have time to look it all over. Has anybody taken this medicine which is a generic for Ativan manufactured in India? ## The drug brand named Lori (2 mg) is said to be manufactured by Cyril Pharmaceuticals. Just to clear up any confusion, it's not a generic for Ativan; just another brand name. Ativan is also a brand name. Lorazepam is the generic name. I personally haven't tried this brand, but others here on the site have mentioned that it is very weak in comparison to the US counterpart. There's nothing inherently wrong with purchasing meds from India, but from the reviews I've read, many people are complaining about the potency and overall efficacy not being up to par with US drugs. Would you agree with that? You can learn more about this drug on the page for Lorazepam Details I hope this helps! ## I...

Hi, I have taken Lorazepam since 1990's off and on again, I hate to say these Cyril 2mg Lorazepam are not worth a spec of a 1mg. I was very sad they were so bad. I am not sure they are real. I even know how they taste- All Brands. These are vey bad meds if they are medication ## Hi Troy, Sorry to hear about your experience with this brand of Lorazepam. From what I could gather, Cyril Pharmaceuticals is actually listed as an Ayurvedic company on google. So I'm not sure if they have any sort of reputation for producing pharmaceutical products, despite their name. This company is also based out of India where quality control isn't regulated nearly as much as the FDA with regards to the manufacturer's integrity. And because this brand isn't available in the U.S., nor lis...

I been taking lorazepam 1 mg white small round, soft and sweet tasting. I think these are meant to be taken sublingualy. I just got some that were crushed up but they were bitter. Anyone heard of bitter tasting lorazepam? White in color and not soft? ## Hi jessie, After seeing a number of comments from other users, I think the taste largely depends on which manufacturer you get. Most of the reviews I've come across state that they also had a extremely bitter or chalky taste in their mouth after having certain brands. While others have somewhat of a sweet taste. Perhaps one or more of the inactive ingredients that make up the tablet's composition, could be more prominent in a particular batch. That's just one theory anyway. Do you know which company it is who makes the bitter...

Does this 2 mg lorazepam manufactured by Watson and the same pill manufactured by Qualitest have the same inactive ingredients? ## I was put on the qualitest(so)? brand and after I've been on Watson for years - the Qualitest is a placebo to me. it does NOT work for me. my pharmacist at Rite- aid said they're all the same and I said no they're not and he said that they can't order Watson when they want anymore due to some bogus reason. I think he's lying. I am willing to call the new company of who makes watson and ask them if that's true or not and if I can get a list of chain pharmacies carry Watson - as their main brand and switch pharmacies. why bother fighting with somebody who obviously hasn't been on anxiety medication but yes there is a difference in a...

I've been taking the form of lorazepam identified by a "v" on one side and "4008" on the other for years. Recently I switched pharmacies and they gave me a NOTICEABLY different version, manufactured by "Watson labs" ("Watson" on one side and "1/241" on the other). I might as well be taking placebos even though it's the same dosage. My doctor told me that manufacturers can vary in the make-up of the pill by almost 2% and still legally call it the same dosage/drug, so what I'm feeling (nothing) may really be due to the difference in manufacturer. I want to go to my new pharmacy & ask if they can fill my prescription with the pills from this other manufacturer, but I don't know who manufactures it. I suppose I can just bring one o...

How often should I be taking it? ## Depending on the dosage form (I.V. or tablet) and what you're taking it for, the instructions for dosing and administration can vary greatly. So unfortunately I can't really tell you how often or how much you should be taking without those details. Usually this is something you would want to ask your doctor as he or she prescribes you the medication. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Lorazepam Details If you can please post back with any additional information that would be great!
