I am looking for an over the counter that is equivalent to to the kor-con m10 er tablets ## Hello, Tracey! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is nothing available over the counter that is equivalent. The over the counter Potassium supplements are just fractions of this, so you'd have to spend just as much many to take a lot of them. How low is your potassium level? You may be able to up it by combining over the counter supplements with high potassium foods, such as bananas. Have you consulted your doctor for ideas? ## Thanks....I was just wondering. KDur or Klor Con has been around for many many years but still is very expensive. It is more costly than some newer meds that do not have generics. How is this possible? Is this a question of greed on the part of pharmacies. This is a frequently ordered drug. ## Hello, Jean! How are you? Actually, it's not as frequently ordered as most. It is only ordered when someone's potassium is dangerously low, otherwise, it's not safe for someone to take it. Thus, the demand for it is actually low, so very few companies manufacture it, since it isn't very profitable to do so. In order to make any money back on their investment, the companies that do can't afford to give it a cheap price. I'm sorry, I do understand what a burden it is, when something is expensive, but these ...

Con you tell me how many bananas I have to eat to get the same amount of potassium as one klor-con m20 tab? ## Hello, Frank! How are you? From what I can find, they estimate approximately 1 mEq per inch of banana, so you'd need to eat 20 inches of banana for each tablet you are supposed to take. It would likely be easier to just take the tablets, rather than eating bananas all day, every day. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the information. I was curious. That is a lot of bananas especially in light of the fact I'm not that crazy about bananas. The pill, though, is a bit hard to swallow. Again, thank you for the effort. ## A FAIRLY SMALL BANANA IS APPROX. SIX INCHES, SO 3 OR 4 BANANAS IS NOT ALL THAT MUCH. IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN THE PILL IN MY OPINION...

I have been taken 9 potassium tablets a day to for approx 6 years. Potassium level has been good. Will there be any side effects if I cut back to one a day, after one office visit and blood test? I do not understand this quick move and am scared. ## Hello, Almond! How are you? There really shouldn't be any issues, according to the FDA, but if they are the only thing keeping your potassium up, it may drop again, suddenly, due to a rebound effect. Thus, your doctor should check it, again, soon. Did they give any reason for the sudden change?

Can i take Klot-con powder mixed in pepsi? ## Hello, Craig! How are you? Ideally, it should be water or juice, the acids in sodas can sometimes neutralize some medications, so it's best not to mix them with sodas. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effect of this as being nausea, due to its harshness on the stomach, so it is best taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been having what I believe is a great increase in the arthritis in my legs and feet. Could this be from the potassium? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Why is my Klor-Con powder prescription so expensive even with the co-pay ## Hi Judy, From what I understand, prices can often vary at the pharmacy's discretion, depending on what cost they received it at from the manufacturer/distributor. However if money remains a concern, I would encourage you to try various drug discount cards, such as the one MedsChat offers here: RX Savings Card Coupons like these can reportedly save you anywhere from 15 to 75% off your prescription, and are valid at most pharmacies here in the US. The card can be printed out and brought with you when you go to fill your prescription, in order to see what type of discount they offer. Not sure if you might be aware of this or not, but fruits and vegetables are also abundant in minerals including potassium. If yo...
