anything new for persistent insomnia? I've tried sleep apnea clinics, various over the counter drugs..I have RLS so that complicates things. I can sleep with Ambien but would prefer something not addicting. ## Hello, Cynthia! How are you? Have you ever tried Trazodone? It's a type of antidepressant and many doctors have been prescribing it to help people with sleep issues, since drowsiness is one of its predominant side effects. The FDA lists the others as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. It's an idea to ask your doctor about, since only they can help you decide what is safe for you to try. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi there. I have just started with Cymgen and found that I cant sleep at night. The doctor advised me to take a sleeping pill for a week just so the body can get use to the Cymgen. Will this help? Will I be able to after a week, leave the sleeping pills and then still have insomnia? ## Hi, Rika! Sorry about the problem that you're having with the insomnia. However, there's really no way to say if this is going to work for you and if that side effect will wear off. And if it does wear off, it may take more or less than a week. Learn more Cymgen details here. The only thing you can really do is to try what your doctor has suggested and, if it doesn't help, talk to them again, as it may not be the right medication for you. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have MS diagnosed for over 34 years and was originally diagnosed with relapse and remitting. the last 10 years i have moved into chronic proggressive category. (i am 58 and still walk for short distances with a cane). I have been taking Ampyra for M.S. Symptoms for 1 month. I have taken 10 mg. 2x's/day as close to 12 hours apart as possible. I noticed improvement in speed of walking 2 days after I began taking it. but, I have also experienced much difficulty getting to sleep and staying sleep. I also take baclofen for spasticity. What is the best way to handle the insomnia? I have been taking 5 mg. Of benedryl, but it makes me foggy. ## I have had long term insomnia for many years before taking Ampyra. I started talking 5 mg Saphris ten days ago and now have insomnia that has gotten worse. I have epilepsy and am seizure free but take three primary medications. Lamitical 800 mg (400 mg AM and 400 mg afternoon), Aptiom 500mg afternoon, and Clonazepam 2 mg at night for sleep. Last night I skipped the 5 mg and am going to start taking it in the mornings. At least my Clonazepam knocked me out as usual but I woke up at 3:30 AM and can't get back to sleep. Can someone give me advice? ## I would say persist with Saphris. The insomnia will pass in a few weeks. The benefis of a clearer mind outweigh the costs. For the time being if you get at least 4 hours sleep and are not too tired during the day you should be ok. Just be careful driving or using machinery. ## That is a known side effect o...

i know one of the side effects of vyvanse is insomnia. i can't sleep at all on this stuff, usually i get four or five hours of sleep per two nights. on a good day i'll get six or seven but again, that's over the span of two nights. i take vyvanse every morning except for the weekends, and it gives me enough energy that i can function mentally as though i've gotten all the sleep i need, but my body is achy and sore, and it's starting to make me feel a bit ill. Not to mention i have trouble getting out of bed at all on the weekends when i don't take it. all i'm basically asking is this- people with 60-70mgs, if you have the same problem, how do you get to sleep? is there any way to combat the insomnia without nullifying the medicine? I already take Olanzipine (...

he took last night 60mg restoril only supposed to take 30mg. He also took 20mg zyprexa only supposed to take 5mg, He is also didnt take klonopin since he toook way too much last week and he was having brain zaps ears ringing and in a fog he felt paralyzed he fell down and dizzy. could that be from klonpin withdrawl or too much medications. he also takes 20mgnadolol and 50mg vistaril ## If he isn't taking them as prescribed, then it is difficult to say which one may have caused the symptoms he experienced, it could be due to withdrawal, or suddenly jumping to a higher dose of the others. Why is he taking them like this? He really needs to take them as prescribed, no more, no less. The Klonopin can be very dangerous, if someone is taking too much of it, then suddenly stops. There are new effective insomnia meds out there. I like Ambien and Lunesta. Be care full, they are a addictive just like placdidyl. If you want non adictive meds. Of course check with your doc first, Trazadone, Seroquil, Geodon, (most of these are anti psychotic drugs but they do work. And if you don't won't to go those routes ask for benzos.

I started taking Eliquis a few weeks ago, my biggest complaint is insomnia! Anyone else have the same problem and if you did, what did you do, what did you take to fall asleep? I've tried Tylenol PM - seem to have to take 2-3 to fall asleep. My doctor suggested Melatonin, I bought the 10mg, that didn't work either... Any suggestions? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Has there been any improvement, yet? Most side effects are transient and will go away in time, once your body gets used to a medication, but that can take 4 to 5 weeks. As reported by MedlinePlus, other typical side effects for Eliquis may include nausea, headache, trouble breathing, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## I've been taking this pill which i was told would help me sleep. They're Trazodone HCL 50mg tabs. It says on the bottle that it's for insomnia. Is this a sleeping pill and what does it do? I sleep 10-12 hours and I only take 1/2 the tablet. ## The thing about trazadone is it is actually an antidepressant, but only in high doses built up over a period of time(this level must be maintaind to be theraputic). But one of the side effects is extreme drowsiness, but if taken regularly your tolerencn will build up.Mine builds up after a period of time and I have to stop taking it for 6 months in order for it to b effective for me.But overall it does its job for sleep,I have been taking it for 5 years ## Just like the trance song, I can't get no sleep. My mother was taking this medication after surgery yesterday and has not slept at all. Could this be contributing? ## While this medication usually causes dizziness, and drowsiness as side effects, according to FDA reports, there are some rare occasions where it has been known to cause the opposite. It can energize some people and cause insomnia. If it persists, she should consult her doctor about trying something else. Is she on any other medications, or just this one? What type of surgery did was done? ## More typos! Woohoo! I am on an epic roll, tonight. Sorry! I mean to ask what type of surgery was done?

I was prescribed prednisone 50mg for 5 days on 01/24/2016. I took it for the two first days and the result was insomnia. Spent 48 hours straight awake. Couldn't sleep not even a couple of hours. Third day I didn't take it and called the doctor. They said I should take it the following morning and continue every morning until finish it. They didn't help me with the fact that I wouldn't be able to sleep again. Today is jan 27th I still have 3 more pills to take. can anyone advise whether the Insomnia side effect wears off? ## I haven't taken it myself, so I can't speak form personal experience, however, in theory the side effects of prescription medications should reach their peak at around 4 to 6 weeks of use, when the medications reaches its full effectiveness in the body. After that they should start to taper off in severity, as your body gets used to the medication. Learn more Ampyra details here. How long have you been taking it? Have you talked to your doctor about it? ## I sure hope so... I take mine 7am and 7pm. u might want to do 6am and 6pm. When I was started with amitriptyline for headaches, sleep is not an issue at all. Maybe too much at times. take care.... ## I've been taking Ampyra for MS for a year and have experien...

This is my second day taking Acxion. It is 1:39 am and I can't sleep. Is this a side effect or something else? By the way I filled a prescription for Acxion in Mexico, is the same quality, because is the same lab. ## Yes, Phentermine/Acxion has been known to have a stimulating effect on most people that take it, so the FDA lists its side effects as possibly including headache, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and nervousness. Ref: Phentermine Information Combining with anything caffeinated can worsen the effect. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 75mg Lyrica for nerve pain in my legs and feet. This is keeping me up for hours at night. I cannot go to sleep for 2-3 hours after going to bed. Does anyone else have this problem? ## Have you informed your doctor? You may need a higher dose of the Lyrica. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lyrica as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. However, it can also cause insomnia, so that is something to be aware of, in case it happens to you.

I'm taking purbac double strength but I can't sleep at all. Anyone else having insomnia? ## That’s because Purbac is an antibiotic. It does nothing for insomnia. ## Isomnia is a common issue with many medications. Purbac contains the active ingredient Sulfamethoxazole, it is most commonly used to treat bacterial infections. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, diarrhea, and arthralgia. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ## Yes, I can't sleep, my mind is very active and if I do fall asleep it's only for 3hrs. I also feel tired with no energy. ## I can’t sleep while taking this medication either.

Can Beline capsules keep me from sleeping at night. ## Based on information I gathered, I'd like to say the answer to your question is yes and no. Reason being is that the manufacturer does not list any potential side effects. However "The Danish Rheumatism Association" has issued a strong warning about the safety of Beline capsules, which you can view below: "Beline capsules are sold online as a herbal food supplement. However, The Danish Rheumatism Association became suspicious about the product and asked the Danish Medicines Association to analyze it. The analysis showed that Beline capsules contain: Oxetacaine - a potent local anaesthetic Betamethasone - a corticosteroid Piroxicam - a non steroidal anti inflammatory Chlorphenamine - an antihistamine The Danish Rheuma...

What is the strongest insomnia-medication to help insomnia? I've tried everything. ## Hello, Shelly! How are you? What all medications have you tried? There are some, such as Temazepam, that are quite strong and are often used, when someone has failed to respond to other options. The FDA classifies it as a benzodiazepine, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. My physician prescribed every benzo drug imaginable (Ambien, Lunesta, sp?) and they were ineffective for my occasional insomnia, at best. He gave me a prescription for Seconal to use as needed. When I tried to fill it you would have thought the Rx said "Opiates" or "LSD". The younger pharmacists had not a clue as to what it was, and the older ones acted like they had seen a ghost. Anyway, I finally found the medication via my home delivery pharmacy and when I need it, I take it and it works. No wiped out memory, no sleepwalking, so groggy aftermath. Any drug when taken in excess or with other drugs can be dangerous...this includes simple OTC drugs, Tylenol, aspirin etc. This drug has been so vilified. I know that there is another use for the drug (in Oregon), however thi...
