An 18 year old boy with systic fibrosis was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. The culture returned positive for B. capacia. How should his condition be managed? ## Burkholderia generally causes Meliodosis, which is known to be fatal in most cases, because it has grown very resistant to most antibiotics. It does need to be aggressively treated with antibiotics and his doctors should know which are the most effective. However, mortality rates still remain very high. It is most commonly found in Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. Does anyone else have information to add? ## the cultures returned to positve for B.cepacia.how should his conditon be managed?

On the package it says not to give under six , so basically I was thinking if I would brake in 1/2. do u think that would help home? He has a bad cough and later on his nose was runny. I have started giving him baby Motrin. ## Hello, Krissy! How is he doing? Please, do not give him anything without a doctor's approval, not even half of one. It is far too easy to overdose a child of that age. It would be best to take him to his pediatrician and let them prescribe an appropriate treatment, if one is necessary. I understand that you love him and want to relieve this, so he is no longer miserable, but it just isn't worth the risks. I felt the same, when my son was small… I even still feel that way sometimes, although he's 20, now. LOL Does he have a fever, at all?

Round green Pill Has Merrell 15 on one side nothing on other side ## I haven't found a listing for a tablet with this marking, though the MERRELL logo is used on several prescription medications. Where was it found? The general location may help to narrow it down. ## Did you ever find what this pill was? ## Gosh, this must be a really old pill. According to Wikiepdia, the company Marion Merrell Dow was around until 1996. It states that they manufacured various products, including Cardizem (which treats arrhythmias and high blood pressure), Carafate (an ulcer treatment), Gaviscon (an antacid), Seldane (a withdrawn antihistamine), Nicorette (anti-smoking gum) and Cepacol mouthwash. That being said, do you have any more info as to how you came across this pill? I assume it was fairly r...

Locations of where it can be purchased ## Have you considered an alternative product called Cepacol? It is also indicated for immediate sore throat relief. The ingredients are different from Aspergum, but perhaps it will do the same job? Active Ingredients: (in each lozenge): Benzocaine USP 15mg (Oral Anesthetic) + Menthol 3.6 mg (Oral Anesthetic) Cherry Honey Lemon Mixed Berry <IMG border="0" src=" Best of luck! ## Cepacol is not worth a darn. Nothing over the counter helps like ASPERGUM. Where can I purchase some ## Just started my search for aspergum, and was shocked that it is no longer being made.
