ON THE PILL IS WATSON 349, NOT357, WHAT THE DIFFERENCE ## Watson 349 is identified as Acetaminophen (500mg) + hydrocodone bitartrate (5mg). There is no pill by Watson marked 357, but there is a pill manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, that makes M357; which is identified as Acetaminophen (500mg) + hydrocodone bitartrate (5mg) The primary noticable differences between these two pills are the different manufacturers as well as each pill containing different inactive ingredients or fillers. Inactive ingredients can effect how efficiently the drug is absorbed into your system and therefore determine how effective it might be over another similar pill with different inactive ingredients. I hope this information helps! ## They are both the same medication, in the same dosage, but th...

NO EXPIRATION DATE ON FULL BOTTLE. GIVEN TO MY MOTHER FOR CHRONIC PAIN. DOES NOT TAKE AS OFTEN AS IT WAS PRESCRIBED FOR. HOW LONG SHOULD SHE KEEP THIS BEFORE IT HAS LOST IT EFFECTIVENESS. THERE IS NO EXPIRATION DATE ON THE PRESCRIPTION AND THIS CONCERNS ME. ## A pharmacy or hospital always dispenses these with a one year expiration date from the date of the prescription. In addition, these types of medications do not turn dangerous after the expiration date, they simply start to break down and lose effectiveness, so even if it is past the year, they may be less effective, but still safe to use. (Please note, this does not apply to all meds, there are some exceptions that can become dangerous after their expiration!)

How are you? Yes, as of the first of the year, they are only available with a maximum of 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose, just like the new one you are taking. The Acetaminophen tends to augment the action of the narcotic, that's why the new one doesn't seem to work as well for you. However, your body should adjust after a week or two. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, d...

I have a bulging disc at L2 and its pressing on my spinal cord nerve which is very painful. I have a primary care, very conservative, and she gave me hydrocodone 5 mg until I can see neurosurgeon. That's going to be a few weeks and I have a very physical job and the med she prescribed isn't helping. Does my condition warrant something stronger? I feel like a drug seeker asking, but I really need something to get me through the night so I can sleep without pain. ## Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are the active ingredients in Vicodin, which is a narcotic pain reliever. As to requesting something else, it isn't your job that makes it warranted, it is the pain level you experience. If this medication isn't strong enough, then you should contact your doctor and let her know. A...

My doctor prescribed the liquid hydrocodone/APA 7.5-500mg/15ml to me for pain. The pharmacy label says to take 1 TEASPOON every 6 hours. This seems unusual given that this dosage seems to be most often given in 15ml doses as opposed to the 5ml in a teaspoon. I took it as the label recommended and honestly can't tell a bit of difference. Is it possible that the pharmacy mislabeled? Based on what I have read, I should be safe to 15ml at a time, right? I sure would like to take the full dose tonight so I can finally get some rest. ## What does the pharmacy list for the dosing amounts in the 5ml? Did you check to see if they substituted? They sometimes do that if they don't have the dosing form that your doctor prescribed in stock. Have you called the pharmacy to ask? If they just m...

My 14 year old daughter has terrible pain because of infection in her tooth. She has on going problems with her teeth because of a dental disease she has. It is the weekend and we ran out of the usual pain med prescribed. The dentist is impossible to contact. So... I wondered if it would be safe to give her hydrocodone as an alternative. She weighs 120 lbs. ## Hello, Melissa! How is she doing? Hydrocodone is actually a narcotic, so it's just not safe to give it to her, without a doctor's approval. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What was she taking for it? When will she be seeing her dentist? ## We finally got her out of the pain once her antib...

I GOT THIS MED FOR A CHECK INFECTION LAST YEAR. WHY CAN'T MY PHARMACIST FIND IT NOW AND HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO CHERATUSSION AC SYRUP? ## The Hydrocodone APAP shows that it also contains Acetaminophen with the narcotic, this type of syrup/suspension is usually given to treat cough, fever and pain. The only thing it would do for an infection is treat the pain and fever that it may cause, it wouldn't actually treat the infection itself. The Cheratussin AC contains Codeine and Guaifenesin, so it isn't the same, because this would be used mostly to treat cough and cold symptoms. Your pharmacist should be able to find the Hydrocodone/APAP, but do you actually have a prescription for it, or are you just asking them to find it? If you're just asking about it, they may not be giv...
