If I'm not getting relief on 1 tab, can I take 1-12? ## Hi Essie, Hydrocodone Apap 5/325mg contains (5 mg) of Hydrocodone + (325 mg) of Acetaminophen. Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone is a combination of two types of pain medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain. The Hydrocodone (related to codeine) is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics (which act in the central nervous system [CNS] to relieve pain), while the Acetaminophen (a less potent pain reliever) is used to boost the effects of the Hydrocodone. If you're having problems with the dosage, I would speak with a doctor about increasing it instead of experimenting on your own. Is this pill consider Norco and dose it work as good as the Watson? ## Hi JoAnn, To answer your first question, Hydrocodone bitartrate + APAP is a generic for brand name Norco. The APAP is simply an abbreviation for Acetaminophen. In terms of how it compares to the Watson (Actavis) formula, this is something that can only be determined by you since everyone is affected different by the same medication(s). Not only that, but you didn't actually list what manufacturer makes your pill, so there is no feasible way to compare it to another manufacturer?

How long is this medication good after their expiration date. I don't take often so I have some over a year old. ## Hello, Based on my research, U.S. prescription medications are required to have a mandatory expiration date of 1 year from the date the prescription is filled. After a year is up, the medication should still be safe but it will start to lose its potency and can no longer be as effective. However, there are some medications that can become dangerous after they expire. Iv had this medication for 18months now and when I too it it took along time to kick in Should I get a new prescription? ## Hi Sandy, How did you have to wait before noticing any relief from taking it? Unless you took it with a meal, it shouldn't take very long (typically no more than say 15-20 minutes on average) to feel the effects of a medication you ingested. If however, you are simply not getting much relief or benefit from its use, I would definitely encourage you to speak with your doctor about other types of treatment options for your pain. I hope this helps! ## Do you mean you have been taking this med for 18 months or you have had the same prescription for 18 months ? ## the time it takes to absorb very's from person to person and the time you ate around taking the pil...

My husband takes the Hydrocodone/Apap 5-500MG Tablet by Mallinckrodt. When we went to a different drug store, they gave us Hydrocodone/Apap 10-325. The drug store says it's the same as Hydrocodone/Apap 5-500MG. This can't be true? ## Well, no, obviously not, this is clearly a different dosage of the medication. The first tablet he was receiving contained 5mgs of the narcotic Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. The new one contains 10mgs of the Hydrocodone and only 325mgs of Acetaminophen, so it is completely different and not equivalent at all. The higher dose of the narcotic could cause more severe side effects, such as: drowsiness, nausea, dizziness and constipation. In addition, it could cause him to build a tolerance or addiction faster, and when he does get the other p...

WHAT IS THE T FOR ON THE WHITE HYDROCODONE ACETAMINOPHEN 10-325 BY WATSON THIS IS 10-325 T I RECENTLY CHANGED FROM YELLOW 10-325MG TABS TO WHITE ONES I AM NOT CRAZY BUT THE WHITE ONES ARE NOT REALLY HELPING AS WELL WHY IS THAT ## Hi jen, Your not the first to say that the white ones haven't been working as well. There have actually been several complaints to Watson (Actavis) regarding the lack of potency in their "supposedly equivalent" white tablets. They claim that the only difference lies in the removal of 'dye', however that doesn't necessarily explain why they don't work as well, since dye has no real impact on anything but its color. The true answer to their ineffectiveness is still a mystery until the manufacturer opens up and spills the beans. In the ...

I am currently yaking 300mg Motrin for arthritis pain. Developed severe sciatica and was prescibed Hydrocodone APAP 5 mg /325mg. Am 78 years old 122 pound. Is that too much painkiller, what are the side effects. ## Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are the active ingredients in Vicodin, it's a narcotic analgesic and this is the lowest dosage available. However, only you and your doctor can decide whether or not it's the right medication for you. The side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. I am smaller than you and was recently taking one in a higher dosage, prescribed by my dentist for the pain from an infection. The worst problem I had from it was the nausea.

I just had knee surgery may 3rd.I had Hydromorphone and ran out and because of the slow healing process that i am experencing,My Doc gave me hydrocodone 5/325's.He said to take 1-2 every for pain, but it doesn't seem to be working.Should I wait a while longer to see if it does.I DON'T want to take very high does of acedaminophin because of liver damage. ## You can take Ibprofin with this. ## You are correct to worry about taking too much of the Acetaminophen, not only does it risk liver damage, but it can be toxic if you take too much of it in a day. At doses over 4grams/4,000mgs, it can be toxic and put you in life-threatening danger. Because of this, I'd suggest talking to your doctor, before adjusting the amount you are taking. The dosage of the narcotic has been raised, while the Acetaminophen has been lowered, to help protect you from the damage that long term use of higher doses of it can cause, such as liver failure.
