Hepatitis (plural hepatitides) is a medical condition defined by the inflammation of the liver and characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ. The name is from the Greek hepar (παρ), the root being hepat- (πατ-), meaning liver, and suffix -itis, meaning "inflammation" (c. 1727).[1] The condition can be self-limiting (healing on its own) or can progress to fibrosis (scarring) and cirrhosis. Hepatitis may occur with limited or no...

In early 2019, I began training for a marathon in Vancouver, BC, scheduled for May 2, 2019. Additionally, I was averaging 250 Grouse Grinds per year (often referred to as the "natural stair master"). At 65 years old, I was in very good health for my age. Being able to complete the Grouse Grind in 35-40 minutes put me in the top 10% of all participants. However, in April 2019, I started taking Epclusa. To provide some background: I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 1973 in Ontario, Canada. After this diagnosis, I stopped using drugs and changed my lifestyle habits. Despite the fact that doctors and specialists confirmed I was in great shape, the Canadian Medical Association strongly recommended that I take Epclusa. This turned out to be a big mistake. Within one week of starting ...

Im halfway through a 12 week course and am exhausted for no reason.... I have only been sick twice from the drug but other than that a dull headache with sort of fogginess and extreme tiredness is really the only side effects for me... slightly upset in the stomach but I was before I started.... I was just reading that others felt tired too, well I hope it goes away soon... I thought I was just getting fat and lazy... hehe ## Everything you've listed can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the U.S. FDA. You may also experience stomach pain and diarrhea. They should go away, once you finish your course of treatment, but many people have reported that it sometimes takes a few months. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I started taking Harvoni 2 weeks ago. I...

Hi. I was wondering if anybody with hep-c also has c.o.p.d? I've recently been diagnosed. I have geno-3. I'm 64yrs old, feel totally confused. My dr isn't very clued up on hep-c and is not much help at all. I feel that doing treatment for hvc would be just too hard with breathing issues. Thanks. P.s. - The Atrovent puffer is now giving me urine retention. (great)

I am taking livolin for a liver problem (Hepatitis B) and have been advised to take it for a month. I want to know if chronic Hepatitis B can be cured? Also, what are the side effects of livolin? ## good morning, I have hepatitis b for more than 7 years now, can I take livolin forte. and for how long. can it help ## Hello Celibba, I'm sorry to hear that you got a Hepatitis B infection. I have good news and bad news. I'll start with the bad news, I was unable to find any credible case studies showing that Livolin can help cure Hepatitis B. The good news is that Hepatitis B is an infection that attacks your liver, but when treated it often does not stay long. Livolin Forte is a foreign supplement not regulated by the FDA which reportedly aids the liver by maintaining tissues in th...

Symptoms new treatments and how effective are these treatments and is there a cure. How many types of hepatitis are there ## Hello, Amentha! How are you? I think the most successful new meducation is Harvoni, which many people reporting a full 'cure' of Hep C, though a few have reported relapsing, after completing their course of treatment. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and diarrhea. There are 2 Hepatitis viruses, as listed by the NIH, A; B and C. Not all are 'curable', so to speak and no doctor can promise an actual cure. Can anyone that's been on this treatment chime in? ## Oh and I forgot about the other two, D and E, though they are very rare.

I am on 24 weeks treatment I did 1 month and a half with harvoni and ribavirin stop the ribavirin and my liver enzymes Alt and Ast were up in my blood works then on my next blood works 14 weeks into treatment my enzymes went down again. I don't know if it was the virus resistance. ## Ribavirin has been known to affect the liver, and to cause side effects, including elevated liver enzymes on blood work, so it may have just been due to taking it. Ref: Medline Plus Ribavirin Other side effects may include nausea, insomnia, memory loss, diarrhea, and cough, according to FDA reports. Did your doctor feel there was any reason to be concerned? Harvoni can also cause side effects, such as nausea, muscle pain, dizziness, irritability, headache, and tiredness. Ref: Medline Plus Harvoni

Do methadone clinics check for hep-c in the annual blood draws? Kinda trying to figure out when I contracted it. ## Not usually, in most cases, they only check for medication compliance, according to FDA regulations. Methadone also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Have you had any other possible exposures, such as in a hospital, your doctor's office, or intimately? ## Rubbish. The blood test that is ordered by Methadone clinics is very narrow in scope, and is used to assess the condition of your liver due to increased risk of Hepatitis C. They can also, with your consent, check for HIV and Hep C.

What narcotic pain meds could my doctor safely prescribe as someone who has been diagnosed with Hepatitis C? Also, I have been prescribed Suboxone. Is this a problem with this diagnosis? I have a terrible doctor who manages to see 20 patients in less than an hour by ushering us all in and out in 5 minutes or less...so I haven't been able to ask her. ## Zydot, Unfortunately in your position the issue isn't with time management or your Hep-C . You must find another provider concerned enough about your welfare to treat you with the respect you deserve. There are narcotic pain meds that can be safely utilized but if your already receiving suboxone I question the effectiveness that these Rx's would have on your pain. Seek a referal for a competent medical provider as they will ass...

I was told by my doctor that it is very bad to smoke marijuana when you have hep c and if you're going to do it to use a filtering pipe. I was told I could buy one at a headshop. Is there anyone with true or false info on this? Thank you all. ## I am not aware of any research showing this, but I am also not a doctor. All the research I've read lists no warnings about it with various medications, or various medical conditions. As I said, I am not a doctor, so I can only speak as to the research articles and studies that I've read, and there are always some exceptions to certain this, for instance the NIH does warn that smoking it may not be safe for people with COPD, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. And adequate studies have not been down to test its interactions with some medi...

I have hep-c and finally found a Dr to give me Suboxone but I'm worried that when they find out I have hep-c they won't give it to me. I live in OKC, so does anyone know if I'll be able to receive the medication? Can you only get Subutex if you have Hepatitis C? ## Do not even mention your hep-c. It will complicate everything. Just take the suboxone and get on with your life. Also, you will have more energy taking suboxone. I know how hep-c zaps your energy. Enjoy your life. Good luck to you. The new Hepatitis C medication. I haven't gotten a straight answer to this day. Can you answer these 3 questions or any 1 of them. 1. What is it called? 2. Do you have to use it in combination with interferon in order for it to work; or can it work without interferon? 3. How do the doctors decide if the patient can tolerate it? ## Connie-Bristol-Mayers is still in clinicals with a new medication that will cure Hep C in a week.. I was in the first trial, had one of the highest viral loads EVER (25 years infected). I took a couple pills twice a day for a month. The viral load was COMPLETELY GONE in 7days. It has yet to go to the FDA. It WILL get a rush and it is anticipated to hit the market in 1-2 years. I TOOK NO INTERFERON OR OTHER DRUGS. Do you have other questions? ## Sorry, late...
