my son's brain is fiaring to fast for his body and speach and our dr suggested that he use epitec 25mg twice a day (he is 9 years old). Our dr thought that this would work better than ritalin. would you agree and what are the warning signs i need to look out for. ## What do you mean by saying that it is firing too fast? I'm sorry, but I am not sure I understand. Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine, which is an anticonvulsant medication that has also been shown to be effective in some people as a mood stabilizer. Learn more Lamotrigine details here. ## How they described it was, that his brain is working at the pace of a 13 year old. his attention span is not very long. our dr said that he didnt want to put him on ritalin as that would affect his moods and that is w...

Hi I have been taking epitec 250mg for almost a year now and it has worked great for me but my prescription was supposed to be filled last week but I only get paid in another weeks time so I haven't been taking my pills for a week now and I feel shaky and my moods are getting bad again. Now I'm freaking out because I can't go and buy my pills for another week. help. What will happen? And do I have to start at a low dose again when I get them?

My husband has recently developed epilepsy and is on epitec 100 . Just want to make sure which pain killers are preferable to take when needed. Or which not to take. Is myprodol or ibupain ok.?? Do they interfere with the epitec. Have heard that some medication can interfere...? ## Rather than just thinking of what may interfere with the Epitec, his overall health and the severity of his epilepsy also need to be taken into consideration, when deciding what medications are safe for him to take. Thus, the best suggestion I can make is that he check with his doctor, before taking anything else. Is Epitec the only medication he is on? Does he have any other health conditions?

I have Bipolar and i have been using Epitec 200 for the last 8Years. I dont understand why you say "weight Gain"? My weight is still the same since 8Years ago (16yrs) and i am sure it has to do with Epitec as it is the only drug i use. The Drug really helps me lift my mood and gives me the confidince i need! but, Does anyone else have this problem with weight being the same? I also feel extremely lazy and dont have the energy to go out and do something. Any advise on something else? ## Various drug articles for Epitec (lamotrigine) actually list "weight loss" (not weight gain) as a potential side effect. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a695007.html#side-effects In any case however, this medication is in a class of drugs called anti-convulsants. So while change...

Alcohol with epitec: I take 25mg Epitec twice daily. Can I consume a glass of wine on special occasions although I am taking Epitec? ## Drinking alcohol while taking Epitec is not recommended. This medication is reported to contain the active ingredient Lamotrigine, which acts as a central nervous system depressant (as does alcohol). If you really did want a glass of wine then it is highly recommended that you check with your prescribing physician first since they are familiar with your full medical history. While it may be okay to drink a single glass of wine (moderation), it is best not to take a chance without knowing if you are specifically at risk for an interaction. For the last 3 year I take Wellbutrin 150g at 8 am and Lexamile 20mg with Epitec 300mg at 8 pm every day. I have exelent resalts. I now want to stop with the epitec 300mg. No reason what so ever for this disision. What can Happen? Ria ## I am using the Epitec 100mg it is trouble falling asleep, if my brain doesn t want to switch off Can it be the Epitec that is causing this problem..! ## Ria, have you consulted your doctor? Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine, which is an anticonvulsant that is also used as a mood stabilizer and suddenly stopping it might cause rebound effects, such as mood swings and convulsions, so it should only be done under medical supervision. And yes, Emma, insomnia is a well known side effect of it. Have you talked to your doctor about the problem?

Hi I am on Epitec 200mg I wake up feeing nauseous and gained weight. I have a rash which is persistent. Please advise. My other medication includes rivertrol Cyprimil renetec and Alcera I have been on Epitec for the past two months should I continue or get weaned off the Epitec ## Have you been experiencing these side effects ever since you started taking Epitec or did they begin with Rivertrol, Cyprimil, Renetec, and Alcera? From what I could gather, the active ingredient found in Epitec (Lamotrigine), can cause a hypersensitivity reaction primarily occurring as a rash. I found a brief mention of it here: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1201641/ I would personally suggest weening off of the Epitec, if the rash doesn't go away. Is your doctor aware of the side effects you've been...

I depend on EPITEC every day because it helps to keep my mood up, gives me confidence in myself. However, I've not picked up any weight for the last few years and it LOOKS like i am dying of hunger..(People worry)…I spoke to my doctor and he said that he will put me on EPILIM.. But, i need to bring my dose down first to 50mg. I am now sitting on my first day where i am down to 100mg and its honestly terrible. Does anyone know what will happen if i suddenly jump to EPILIM? Is there a risk? Also, what do you think of EPILIM? ## I don't have any personal experience with either medication, but apparently loss of appetite and weight loss are b...

I want to now ive I use epitec do I have to eat something in the morning before I drink my epitec and do I have to drink it with water or can I drink it with cooldrink as well? ## Epitec (lamotrigine) comes as a tablet, an extended-release (long acting) tablet, an orally disintegrating tablet (dissolves in the mouth and can be swallowed without water), and a chewable dispersible (can be chewed or dissolved in liquid) tablet to take by mouth with or without food. I'm not sure which one of those you may have, but more specific details on 'how to take this medication' can be viewed in the link below: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a695007.html#how I hope this info helps!

I have been taking epitec 250 for 11 months because encephalitis. Can I have a glass of wine? ## I live in South Africa in Natal. In 2025 I passed out in the bathroom at work having a fit. I do not remember the next 27 day, I was in hospital been treated. Thankfully by a doctor who believed that she knew I had Encaphalitis and treated me for this. For 5 months after 27 days, I had no will to live , just sick, in pain and could not eat. In September some time I started to feel a bit better and started to return to normal. Thankfully we run our own business and went back slowly. 11 months later I go to work every day, do what I can, but cannot remember what happened yesterday but what when I was s child, I can remember. I had another attack two weeks ago and feel like it could happen agai...

I am using the Epitec 100mg. I have trouble falling asleep. It is if my brain doesn't want to switch off. Can it be the Epitec that is causing this problem. ## I've been using Epitec for the last 2 years. I drink 3 tablets of 100mg in the mornings. In the evenings I am yawning that tears come out of my eyes and I am tired. But I can't fall asleep. It's like I said before. My brain doesn't want to go to sleep, doesn't want to switch off. The only way I go to sleep is when I drink a sleeping tablet. I read on the paper inside the Epitec's box that it can cause tiredness, drowsiness and insomnia, which does not make sense. I want to know if the tablets can be the cause that I can't fall asleep. Even during the day if I try to take a nap, my brain doesn't...

Hi there I am 22 years old I have been on epileptic medication and anti depressants for 12 years as I had a brain tumour at the age of 9. I am suddenly having concerns about the medication I am on, I was on Epilem for several years for the epilepsy, until I was changed to lamictin about 10 years ago. I've been on many anti depressants as well as Concerta and Ritalin as I was once diagnosed ADHD. Now all I have been taking for the past 8 years have been Lamictan and Cipralex. However over the last year I went on the generic Epetic and I stopped taking cipralex this year as I had a spiritual awakening and found the need to try cure it on my own as I have been on so much medication that I feel my body wants to become addicted to it. I now have just started a more generalized anxiety pi...

What to do if I forgot to drink my Epitec in the morning. Can I drink it at night with my anti- depressant. ## Hello, Ladie! How are you? You should take it as soon as you remember, there is no need to wait until nighttime. Side effects to Epitec may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started using epitec today. I read all the comments on it and am completely freaked out now. Why does everybody gain so much wait on this stuff???? ## Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine; which actually has weight loss and loss of appetite listed as side effects. I can only assume that people gain weight on it because they don't know how hungry they are, or they may think that they are starving themselves due to the loss of appetite and therefore start binge eating on foods they shouldn't be eating anyways. I would just go off of how "YOU" feel while taking it, because everyone responds differently to these types of medications. I'm sure the vast majority of patients who post something bad about the drug are among only a small percentage of those who ...

Hi, I have Bipolar depression since my childhood. I have been on Epitec 200mg for 9years now. I have not picked up any weight and honestly look terrible with being so skinny. I approached my Doctor and he tried to put me on Epilim but it did not seem to keep me stable so i moved back to Epitec. I've spoken to someone which introduced me to Zyprexa. I would like to know if Zyprexa would give me the same mental treatment as Epitec but will increase my weight. ## Hello, Mee! How are you? It might, but there's no guarantees and, even if it does, it will only last while you are still taking it. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? I use epilin cr 500. Is it the same as epitec 50? My doctor changed it so I want to know if I can use it. ## I am taking 300 mg epitec for bipolar disorder. Can I take epilim instead ## Hello Frikkie, I wasn't able to pull up much information on the epitec 50 but I was able to see that it's main active ingredient is Lamotrigine where as the Epilim 500 contains the active ingredient sodium valproate. This means that the two medications are not the same, however, they are both used to treat the same conditions. These medications are both used to treat epilepsy and mental conditions with episodes of overactivity, elation or irritability. These medications may be prescribed to individuals with bipolar disorders. I hope this information helps. Let me know if there is anything else I ...

I have been taking Epitec(for bipolar mood disorder prescribed by Pschyciatrist) together with Altosec(for GERD by a GP)) for the last 8 years. Recently my GP said the Altosec stops the Epitec from being absorbered. Is this why my BMD is not getting better? ## Hello, Ilona! How are you? Learn more Epitec details here. Learn more Altosec details here. What type of doctor are you seeing for your Bipolar? Have you tried any other medications to treat it?
