I am on Welchol and have nausea and stomach pain and discomfort, as well as pressure all the time, in and out of the bathroom with diarrhea. I have stopped taking it 2 days ago, but still have the same problem. How long does it take to get out of your system? Thanks. ## Have you consulted your doctor? The symptoms you've described can all be normal side effects of this medication. However, if they are that severe, then you will probably need to switch to a different medication. ## Hey this is the second reference I have found that indicates side effects can persist past stopping the drug. (See Thread: Side Effects of WeCHol). Someone replied to the first thread by dismissing the possibility that the persistent side effects could be linked to a drug you are no longer taking. I'm ...

Cefuroxime was a 10 day antibiotic. How many days does it take to leave your system after treatment? ## I'm also curious to find out how long this drug will be in my system? ## Antibiotics tend to have rather short times of duration in the body, which is why they must be taken regularly, over a certain period of time, to fully eradicate the bacteria being targeted. The half-life of Cefuroxime is only 80 minutes, and full bodily processing takes 5 to 6 half-lives, so 6.6 to 8 hours, though there may be slight variations depending on the length of time it was taken, and your individual body chemistry. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cefuroxime as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Ref: Cefuroxime Information Is there anythin...

Whats is the worst case in the matter? ## Hello Sir/Ma'am, My wife took albendazole (1 tablet 400mg) on 13th of January 2014 and we did a pregnancy check which was positive about 5-6 days later. Her last periods were on the 21st of December 2013. I was just wondering, how long does this amount of drug remain in your system and might it have any effect on the baby of her mother? How long does it take for an antibiotic like Ceftin to get out of my system? I need to have blood work done and just finished 10 days of the antibiotic Ceftin. ## This is not something that is normally tested for in blood work and, if you are worried about it causing false results, the lab should be able to tell you how long you need to wait, before you can get accurate results. The FDA classifies this medication as being an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

The half life of a benzo is 12 hours, period. Look it up before you start spouting crap. The average person at average weight will be clean of benzos approximately 2 days from their last dose based on its 12 hour half life. ## Hello, Kalenvex! How are you? I'm sorry, but that is not correct. The half-life of benzodiazepines can vary from one to another, for instance the half-life for Xanax averages about 11 hours, but for Valium it is about 43 hours. And the elimination time from the body can be anywhere from 5 to 6 half-lives, so Xanax would take anywhere from 55 to 66 hours, while Valium would take anywhere from 215 hours to 258 hours, in some cases, Valium has been noted to have a half-life of 100hours, so its elimination time would be 500 to 600 hours. You can Google this yourse...

How long does it take for Lodine to get out of your system? I've been having major anxiety after stopping this medication. ## This medication contains the active ingredient Etodolac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, it is most commonly used to treat pain, fever, and swelling. However the times it takes to actually leave your system can be quite different from its half life, so they might not necessarily be equivalent. How long were you taking it, and what dosage were you taking? More information might help me provide you with an answer to your question. Can you please post back and clarify? Are you on any other questions?

Hi. I have narcolepsy, chronic pain, and several disabilities from a severe accident a few years ago. I've taken Adderall (30 MG 2x day) for the past 3 years. Prior to that I took 200 MG of Provigil daily, but it's cost was over $800/month, and neither insurance nor medicare would cover it. My former sleep specialist switched me to Adderall with good results. I had to change doctors last December, and the new Dr. at the University of Iowa took me off all of my meds pending new sleep studies (I've had 3 in the past 5 years), pain clinic (also had that 3X in 5 years), seeing a neurologist, etc. We're talking 3 months for these tests and I'm currently sleeping 18 hours a day, and I'm in so much pain from lack of my other meds that I wouldn't care to be on my fee...

What is the half life of alcohol in a "normal" adult? ## Wikipedia has an excellent article on Alcohol. It states that Alcohol does not have a typical "half life" as other drugs do, but it is eliminated from the blood stream at a constant rate. ("ethanol does not have an elimination half-life (i.e., is not metabolized at an exponential rate), and instead, is eliminated from the circulation at a constant rate.") It also says "The mean elimination rates for ethanol are 15 mg/dL per hour for men and 18 mg/dL per hour for women, with a range of 10 to 34 mg/dL per hour." Duration of action: 6 - 16 hours, but "Ethanol or its metabolites may be detectable in urine for up to 96 hours (3-5 days) after ingestion" ## Thanks Roy. I was wondering why I could n...

How long does a Edarbyclor 40mg/12.5 mg tablet remain in your system? ## According to the FDA, the elimination half-lives of the two active ingredients found in Edarbyclor (azilsartan and chlorthalidone) are approximately 12 hours. Based on what I've read, many medical experts agree that a drug is for the most part, completely out of your system after about 5 half-lives. That's roughly 60 hours (2 1/2 days) after your last dose, before you can expect it to be out of your system. I hope this helps!

How long does ramipril stay in the body? ## How long does this stay in your body after you stop it? ## Hello, According to the FDA and NIH ramipril has a half life cycle of 3-16 hours and since it takes normally 4 to 6 half lifes for the drug to completely leave your body you are looking at between 12-96 hours, which a huge gap. Out of curiosity why do you need to know? Most people ask this question to determine when the earliest they can take a different medication is. If that's the reason for your question I would suggest waiting the maximum estimated half life of 96 hours before you take the conflicting medication just to be safe. Hope this answers your question.

Random question...I have a place where I keep all my meds and I was bedridden today so my dad had to get my dose for today for me. I had a sub in there and he was supposed to give me my Oxycodone today. I am sure he gave me the sub by accident. I took it at 11am does anyone know how long the half life of that would be so I know when my Oxycodone will work again? I am hurting pretty badly! I've never taken subs before so I don't know a thing about them. ## It usually takes about 3 days, before other opiates will work for you, again. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I need to know what valium looks like. ## How long does a Valium 5 mil. stay in my body before being excreted? I only took 1 and have not taken a Valium in 3 years. ## Valium is available as both a name brand and a generic, so it is manufactured by different companies, and it's appearance will be unique to each. Can you please post back with the markings on them? Thank you! That is what would enable me to research them for you to be sure what they contain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. It can usually be detectable for about 10 days, after taking it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon is correct, generic Valium (Diazepam) can carry many differ...

I just took my last two pills of day one of this medrol pack. My doctor prescribed it for the inflammation in my throat. I felt good all day but after taking these last two this evening, I'm feeling some chest tightness. Is this normal? Also, how long for these pills to wear off so I can sleep? ## This is a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH studies, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, and fluid retention. How severe is the tightness? Such side effects usually linger for a week, or so, after you finish the course of treatment. However, given the chest tightness, it would be best to consult your doctor to be safe.

What is the half-life of 12.5 mg HCTC (Hydrochlorothiazide)? How long can it be kept for? ## Hello, Buddy! How are you? The half-life is not related to how long a medication can be stored, that refers to how long it takes for it to reach 50% of its maximum level in your body, which allows you to determine when it will be fully eliminated. For example, it takes 5 to 6 times the normal half-life, for a medication to be expelled. Thus one that has a half-life of 5 hours, would be fully expelled anywhere between 25 to 30 hours, give or a take a slight variation from person to person, as defined by the FDA, since we are all different. Shelf life, however, is the maximum time that the manufacturer can guarantee that it will retain its full level of efficacy under average home storage conditio...

How long does Cefuroxime remain in your system? ## How long after the last dose does Cefuroxime axetil 500 mg, twice a day, last in the body until it is completely gone? I’m planning to stop now and am wondering how long this medication will stay in my body? ## The serum half-life of Cefuroxime is only 1 to 1.5 hours, full bodily clearance takes 5, or 6 half-lives, so it should be out of your body in just 5 to 7.5 hours. The FDA warns that Cefuroxime may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Ref: Cefuroxime Information Is there anything else I can h...
