Dr. Prescribing this for a-fib. I have read that there is a high mortality rate for a-fib on this. Is there anything out there that doesn't cause problems. Already on lopressor but having break thru after 3 years. ## Unfortunately, all prescription drugs pose the risk of side effects. Even natural remedies do for that matter, but more so, to a much lesser extent since your body doesn't necessarily recognize them as toxins in the same way it does with synthetic pills. Also, my findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions between Lopressor and Digoxin. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Using metoprolol (Lopressor) together with digoxin may slow your heart rate and lead to increased side effects. Contact your doctor if you experience nau...

What causes overdose of this medication and the symptoms? Is it detected by blood work? ## According to the National Institute of Health, digoxin toxicity (overdose) symptoms may be caused by a number of different influential factors, including: having high levels of digoxin in your body; a decreased tolerance to digoxin; low magnesium or potassium levels; problems that affect your kidney function (such as dehydration); and interactions with certain medications. You can read more about each of these various risk factors in the link below: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000165.htm As far as detection is concerned, blood tests are reported to be a standard protocol for determining which risk factor(s) might be causing it. I hope this info helps!

I am taking Cartia xt 120mg, but now the doctor added Digoxin and after a 1/2 hour I started with PVCs. Could there be interactions between these 2 drugs? ## Hello, Moni! How are you? It's possible, they both tend to increase the efficacy of each other. Are you having PVC's or just palpitations? Have you informed your doctor? Other possible side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination and hypotension. ## Can you take Digoxin and Tikosyn with the herbal supplement called DGL? ## The .125 mg dosage of digoxin (5 days a week) causes breast enlargement and pain. I accidentally took my meds twice this morning. It was 5 mg eliquis, 125 mg digoxin and 40 mg sotalol. My question is should I skip meds tonight? ## The biggest concern here is actually the Eliquis, since it could cause an increased risk of bleeding/blood thinning. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse side effects? Any time this happens you should go to your nearest ER or consult your nearest urgent care to be safe.

I just renewed my Digoxin 125 MCG prescription. I have been getting JSP 544 and just received 981. The size of the 981 is larger than the JSP 544 in diameter and thickness. Is this just a difference in Manufacturer? ## Hello, Phil! How are you? Yes, the new one is the same medication, in the same dosage, just manufactured by Global Pharmaceuticals. This is very common with generic medications, whichever one your pharmacy has in stock can vary, depending on who was offering the cheapest price, at the time they need to restock their supply. Side effects may include nausea, loss of appetite, dizziness and blurred vision. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking digoxin since January '14. Now I have a skin infection and have been prescribed Doxycycl Hycl 100mg tabs and have heard that there may be a negative interaction. ## Hello, Fastjack! How are you? Yes, that is correct. The Doxycycline can cause an increase in Digoxin levels, which has the potential to be dangerous. In this case, It would most likely be best to speak to your doctor about taking a different antibiotic. Antibiotic side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Eliquist since October 2015. Three weeks ago, I developed a severe rash on my right calf and hive like bumps on both forearms with constant itching and redness. This is the first time that this has happend since I had a stroke, caused by a fall and hitting my head, in April 2015. I have been diagnosed with A-fib for over 10 years and also take digoxin ( 0.125 mg ) and Plavix during that time prior to the stroke. what are my options for getting off of Eliquis? Right after my stroke, I was given warfarin and had no problems, only now after taking Eliquis have I developed this rash and itching. Any sugestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Have been taking Eliquis 5 mg 2x day for almost 3 months. Seem to be having Stomach Pain, Abdominal Swelling, Bloating, Gas, Facial Swelling and lots of weight gain and water retention. Also brain fog and memory problems. (It's hard to tell how much of this is from Eliquis and how much from CHF associated with A-Fib. Also taking Beta Blocker and Digoxin.) Eliquis has been out long enough for the pharmaceutical company (BMS) to put out a REVISED list of side-effects, to reflect real-life patients' experiences. Wonder if they have done so, or when they'll do so? Am probably going to switch to Xarelto and stop the Eliquis, in hopes that the Xarelto will cause fewer problems. ## You might want to rethink that decison, Afibber. Do I still need to take my losartan now that I am on diltiazem and digoxin for Afib? ## What has your doctor advised? What have your blood pressure readings been? How's the a-fib? The Losartan is an ARB and the Doltiazem is a calcium channel blocker and while they both treat the same types of conditions, they are often used together to help enable better control of them. Thus, one shouldn't be stopped, without your doctor's approval and supervision. Are there any other questions or comments?
