I take amlodipine besylate 10mg + lisinopril 40mg + metoprolol 25mg, but because it is a holiday, of course, my blood pressure is sky high, 197/101 at the lowest. How can I lower it fast? I need help. ## Hi Babs, Sorry to hear about your condition. I think from an outside perspective, the most I can suggest is to simply find ways to remain calm and stress-free throughout the day. It's always easier said than done, but if it were me, I may consider practicing meditation, taking a moment to stop whatever I'm doing & giving myself a break from reality (or other relaxing strategies you come up with). Some deep breathing exercises may be beneficial as well. Also, from a dietary standpoint, I'd find ways to cut back on sodium, heavily processed foods and any artificial ingredi...

My age is 48 and my blood pressure remains at 150 past one year I am on telmisartan and amlodipine combined with bisoprolol 5mg. Suggest how to lower my blood pressure ## Hello, Krishna! How are you? What types of foods do you eat? If they are heavily salted and very fatty, that will play a role in causing your blood pressure to be high. It can also be affected by someone's being overweight and being sedentary. So, if you're carrying a few extra pounds, you should work on losing them, preferable via proper diet and exercise, since those both also play a role in lowering it. And have you talked to your doctor? These just might not be the right medications for you to take, you may need to try something else. ## Since last one year my bp is 150/75. Kidly suggest the remedy

i took 5 arthrexin - 25. had high blood pressure 226 / 102 did the arthrexin cause this ## I have smoked canabis for more than 10 years I have stopped smoking but now am battling with high blood pressure ## @harry, Although I do believe cannabis can help a lot with high blood pressure, there are also other natural alternatives you can try on the side. First and foremost, changes in your diet are most likely going to have the biggest impact on your blood pressure. Eating foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are your best food sources for lowering blood pressure in my opinion. These foods primarily include fresh fruits and vegetables; bananas and dates in particular are great for this, among many others! Other dietary and non dietary options fo...

natural subsitutes/to replace/lisinopril ## There are many alternatives to controlling and/or lowering blood pressure. In my opinion the safest and most logical method would be to control what foods you put into your body. Many acidic foods that are high in sodium such as chips, lunch meats and canned foods can easily cause an unbalance in ones blood pressure if consumed on a regular basis. I am no MD, but my advice would be to eat more alkaline foods. Alkaline foods balance out your entire body's PH level, which effects blood pressure as well. Try to search through google for an alkaline food chart.

Can I cut isosorbide mononitrate 30mg tabs, made by Torrent, in 1/4's? 1/2 tab dropped my blood pressure to 105/54 which I didn't like. ## It would be best to speak to your doctor, before lowering your dosage further. Are you on any other medications? What condition is being treated? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and headache. Did you experience any symptoms when it was that low? ## can somebody please tell me if certain vegitables aggrivate DURIDE after popping tablet any spicy foods or vegitables like capsicums chili etc ## I researched the same question, because the dosage I was taking , though effective, was too intense and left me with a headache. For High blood pressure ## Regarding LoVasc; it does help to relieve hypertension. It would be best to consult your MD for precise dosing based on the severeness of the hypertension. I can say from personal experience of dealing with high blood pressure that the best way to control it is by eating low sodium foods, high in magnesium and potassium. Also a lower intake of grains in your diet will decrease the need for an alternative pill. Please post back if you have any questions or information to add, and I will help you.

I was wondering if you guys know how much Micardis 40 alone lowers your bloodpressure from baseline? ## Hi SHERRIE, Since medications effect everyone differently, it will be hard to know exactly how Micardis 40 will work for you. Here is a link to a Micardis 40 thread that you can post in, maybe someone who has had experience with this medication will be of more help. Discuss/Micardis-40-mg-194179.htm Have you attempted to make any changes to your diet/lifestyle for the sake of your blood pressure? My boyfriend dealt with high blood pressure for years but was able to lower it by controlling his eating habits and exercising. He started to eat a diet with lower sodium foods (replaced table salt with pink himalayan sea salt) to help reduce inflammation and water retention and added in a he...

I have been taking these two drugs together for monts-now i feel my breathing is not right. ## What you might be having a problem with is the fact that both of these medications can cause Central Nervous System Depression and when used together, in some people, they can aggravate each other and make this side effect much more pronounced and breathing can be one of the things affected. It can also cause a lowered heart rate and lowered blood pressure. Have you spoken to your doctor about this, yet? In most instances where this occurs, the person needs a dosage adjustment or has to stop taking one of the medications. ## are there any foods that can help or hurt while detoxing from vicodine?

I read 2 1/2 days.....I'm on my second day. Worst BP Med....I had all side effects too! ## Hi dayna, Which "Blood Pressure" medication are you referring to? I think a lot of these prescription drugs can wreak havoc on our bodies. Fortunately, there are many natural alternatives for Blood Pressure control that in my opinion can be just as, if not more effective than prescription medication if taken seriously. I personally used to have severe hypertension, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising regularly. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways. Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pres...

Just learned that the chronic cough I've had for two years might be caused by this med. What would be the alternative Rx? ## Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Lisinopril. I personally used to have severe hypertension for a number of years, but was able to control it by controlling more of my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways (before prescription alternatives) such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention, supplementation of garlic, as well as having a diet that is rich in potassium and magnesium. Other dietary and non dietary options for lowering blood pressure can include (but are not limited to): L-Theanine Magnesium Glycinate Coenzyme Q10 Garlic Ha...

Hi my age is 29, am suffering dibatis diases, and i am using Glycomet Gp 2, Tazloc 20, now my sugar level is pp 147, i will continue this medicine, or i will change my mdicine. so pls tell me .... ## Hello, Bhaskar! How are you? Tazloc is not used to treat diabetes. It is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac diseases, but your doctor might have prescribed it to help protect your kidneys from the damage that diabetes can cause. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. How long PP are you getting this reading? That's not ridiculously high, but it could be lower. What types of foods do you eat? The medication will not do everything to control your blood sugar, you also n...

This is suppose to be great for cholesterol , high b/p & many other compliants. Can this really be true? ## Hi Mavis, I believe it can be true. To my knowledge, the purple pigments (as well as other colors) in fresh fruits/veggies/grains/etc are a sign of high antioxidants + polyphenols that are good for heart health, blood, and a host of other bodily functions. Some rice is also higher in magnesium, which can lower blood pressure. So while I may not be able to attest to the claims of "Anti-glycation micronized purple rice", I am aware of the multitude of health benefits contained in nutrient dense foods/superfoods... My go to rice has always been organic "black forbidden rice" sourced from the Himalayan mountain regions, which turns the water purple when you steam i...

Beneift of Psyllium husk (SAT ISABGOL) Psyllium may help with weight loss control. Also see an effective appetite suppressant called Diet Rx with no side effects. Psyllium is a wonderful bulking fiber for constipation. Another benefit of psyllium husk is that it reduces fecal incontinence. Psyllium helps maintain healthy cholesterol and blood lipid levels. In 1998, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the use of a health claim in the labeling of foods and dietary supplements containing psyllium husk. The health claim states that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include soluble fiber per day from psyllium may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. Psyllium may help maintain healthy blood pressure. Psyllium added to a traditional diet for pers...

Does ayone experience stubborn sugar n Bp like this? ## Hello, Raj! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. The next thing to look at here is your exercise habits and your diet. Both of those can play a role in your blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Increased exercise helps your body work more efficiently and will help to lower both. Salty foods in your diet cause you to retain fluid, which elevates your blood pressure. Anything sweet, such as fruits and pastries will cause ...

Are the ingredients in Diovan 160 mg and Losartan 100-25 mg comparable if I run out of one can I switch to other? ## Hi Elaine, As far as comparing these drugs, I think it's not wise to assume that they have similar properties, since everyone can react differently to one or the other, despite having an equivalent dosage. If you're used to taking one or the other and have your doctors permission, I'd say it's fine to switch off between the two. However, at the same time I wouldn't necessarily anticipate having the same relief or results from two entirely different medications. On a side note: Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pressure. These foods primarily includ...

My doctor advised me to change my medicine from Amlokind-L to Amlokind-AT as I have a sore throat without any apparent reason. So please advise whether I can take Amlokind-AT in place of Amlokind-L? My blood pressure remains at 140/80. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions on which medication you should be taking. The NIH lists the typical side effects of this mediation as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, cough, increased urination, and hypotension. Do you also watch how much sugar and fats you take in via your foods to help lower your blood pressure? Do you get lots of exercise?
