I just would like to know if this medication is for schitz patients then why is it perscribed for so meany other things? What exactly is it for? I know someone who is on it but thier diagnosis is nothing close to schitz. I am concerned about this and would really like some feed back. Is a dosage of 400 mg of seroquel too strong? Only taking 1 makes a family member sleep in a near coma-state? Also seeing some labored breathing. First, should Seroquel be given to a mentally retarded man, who can not communicate to the Dr(s) if he was having any side effects to this medication? Heard it is a really heavy duty medication and must be prescribed by a physcian, very carefully. Also should it be taken along with other medications that he has been prescribed? ## It is an antipsychotic medication and they can be pretty powerful, but they are commonly prescribed to these types of patients, just as much as they are to someone with a normal mental capacity. My father has been on Seroquel for about 3 weeks for bi-polar disorder. He also has occasional bouts with paranoia. He will occasionally get very angry/agitated and lash out at family members. He still occasionally shows signs of paranoia. In other words, it at first appeared these symptoms were improving, but are still recurring. When will 50 mg of quetiapine fumarate expire once the prescription is filled? ## Based on my research, Quetiapine fumarate has an expected shelf life of 36 months (or 3 years). However it's come to my knowledge from a Harvard Medical School family health article, that most medications can last up to 10-15 years without expressing many signs of degradation or loss in potency. im taking suboxone everyday at my drug program...does vistaril cause a false positive on drug tests? ## Vistaril showed up as ecstasy/mdma in my urine drug screen.
