What Drugs Help With Withdrawal

Hi all. I have seen a lot of posts in the drugs forum about Fentanyl withdrawal. I too have been struggling with the withdrawal symptoms for 10 days now. Trust me when I say it DOES and WILL get easier. I know that if you have just recently started a taper or have gone cold turkey because a taper hasn't worked for you, you're probably not feeling very well right now.Trust me when I say it will get better. It may take weeks to finally feel normal again, but the worst will be over before you know it! I was on 100mcg/hr for about a year, and just recently tapered to 12.5 but went through withdrawal anyhow. Here are a few things that might help, and that have helped me get through the worst of it. ****REMEMBER***** To consult your doctor before pulling yourself off any medication :)...

Have been using opiets for over 35 years. Started with auto accident. Doctor prescribed over a long period then passed away. Was addicted and had to purchase illegally locally. Now still having problem with addiction and paying most of my SSI and Retirement for what I can get. Went to a mandatory class in Elizabeth City, NC several times weekly just to be able to get prescription for Suboxone. It worked but got tired of sitting 3 hours in class with young people and now back on the hard stuff. Why can one purchase cigarettes and liquor that kills but I can't get the necessary drugs to make me feel normal. Is there any help in sight? ## One of the many flaws of this country is how our federal government controls and regulates whatever it is they "consider" to be safe and disr...

Need otc remedy for norco withdrw.anyone have an idea to help lessen withdrawals?ive yet to go wthout and the withdrawals are scaring me ## I have been on norco for 7 years at 6 a day. I have gotten down to 2 a day. Will I have withdrawals? ## Hello sinnerman, According to NIH there is no way to 100% curb the withdrawal symptoms of stopping opiods. According to the American addictions center organization there are some ways that you can allevaite some of the symptoms or at least not make them worse than they need to be. The list is as follows. - Nutritional support, through diet and/or vitamin supplements - Hydration - Hydrotherapy, including baths and whirlpools - Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - Anti-nausea medications - Topical analgesics - Natural sleep supplements - Antidiarr...

Klonopin, or clonazepam is one of the hardest drugs to get off of. I have seen this in hospital settings as a nurse myself and as a patient of this horrible drug. Benzodiazepines should never have been invented. I have been on this med for 3 years now, and cannot handle the withdrawal affects no longer than one month. I wish the doctor would have warned me of how dependent your brain and the central nervous system relies on this med only after even 2 months of taking this. I have been advised by doctors to slowly shave the pill down over a period of a year if needed, and then I have had some doctors tell me that may never be able to get off of this drug ever!! Withdrawal symptoms include for myself a feeling of anxiety and panic constantly, never-ending, shaking, hot and cold, no appeti...

I have take Harvoni for 6 months. Along with xanax and sometimes ambein to help sleep. I have been off two days and my fatigue is worse. I can not sleep. My mind is overtime. I was really looking forward to stopping all drugs after 6 months. Now I am in a depression not sure why. I cry for no reason. And I work in Public Relations, Event planning. Can't focus to do job. My mind knows what need to say. But does not come out right. I have taken to my bedroom. For comfort and prayer. Anyone else feel like this? I have been prescribed Clonazepam (Klonopin) for 7 years, first for Restless Leg, then for ALS. The ALS was diagnosed at Columbia Presbyterian 3 months ago. My symptoms are clear but not completely incapacitating yet. In 7 years I have either lost or taken too many pills 3 times and each time nobody would help me, so I would go to the hospital, where I was always admitted (of course). This time I took too many pills and I just don't want to go to the Emergency Room again. It's ridiculous. They'lll keep me 2 weeks when prescribing the drug would do it... Is there another way? ## Hi Sarah, Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pie...

Took cymgen 60mg for over a year, and went to another doc cause I had manic episodes randomly. I went cold turkey from smoking after 6 years, alcohol and from cymgen. My head is really sore and first few days the pain in the head and vertigo was really bad. Its been a week now and those symptoms have nearly gone. But now I suffer from insomnia and bad dreams. Struggle to fall asleep, then when I do I get woken up by a nightmare. So its not fun. But you just gotta brave it out, the human body is stronger than withdrawal from drugs.

I'm embarrassed so please forgive me. I've been taking 5mg Vicodin for Osteoarthritis for about a month then switched to 5mg Percocet for about another month, 4 times a day. I don't want to take either anymore so I asked to be taken off. My pain Doctor put me on .5mg of khlonopin and now I'm terrified of withdrawals. I haven't had any opioid in over 24 hours. What can I expect? What does khlonopin help with? I'm very scared so any information will be appreciated. Thanks. ## @Momof5, Sorry to hear about your challenges with osteoarthritis. As far as opioid withdrawals are concerned, the truth is that each individual may react differently based on a variety of factors... Withdrawal from the new Oxycontins? Symptoms and lenght of time to get off of these pills? ## There's really no set time for getting off of them, that's going to vary depending on what the person is being treated for and how long they've been taking them, as well as the dosage. The withdrawal symptoms can include nausea, headache, drowsiness, sedation, diarrhea and rebound pain. The severity of these will also vary, depending on whether or not a person was abusing them, or taking them as prescribed, the length of time and the dosage. Learn more Oxycontin information here. Are there any other questions or comments? ## You will feel awful if you just quit taking them you must titrate the dosage. I use to take 10-325 of Percocet 5 times a day. My new doctor lowered the dosage to 3times a day. Saying I was takin too much. I had bad withdrawal and ended up in the hospital. I now take 3 10-325 along with 500mg of tyenol to control my pain. Even with that amount I'm still in a lot of pain. What should i do, I feel like my doctor is not listening to me. I feel the only reason he lower the dosage was because the CDC is being hard on them. I'm in pain all day long. ## The CDC is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, they do not regulate drugs, or prescription medications. They work on getting control of outbreaks of dangerous diseases, preventing their spread, and etc. I believe you may be thinking of the DEA, which is the Drug Enforcement Agency. Hi All, thanks for this useful chat. I live in South Africa and have been on cymgen 60mg for about 8 months for anxiety and depression. It has helped a bit, but of late I feel it is working less and less. I work as a researcher at a university, and my job requires a good amount of creative thought and writing. Over the last 8 months, I feel that my creativity and ability to work effectively has been severely hampered. I tried to come off the cymgen 2 weeks ago, without knowing of the negative side effects. My withdrawal was severe, including vertigo, light headedness, flu like symptoms, diarrhoea, very poor levels of concentration and tiredness. I then did some reading, and am back on the drugs and feeling much better after just one day. I will now try a very gradual tapering, of about ...

Hi. I have been on omeprazole and 600 mg of ibuprofen daily for at least 8 months. I have now had a new knee replacement 3 months ago and I have stopped taking both of these drugs, but now have dreadful indigestion and heartburn. I refuse to take omeprazole ever again. I also take a probiotic. Would it be a good idea to take a Zantac and see if that helps? I also have haemochromatosis. ## If you were taking the Omeprazole for 8 months, then abruptly stopped taking it, it is highly likely that part of your problem is due to a rebound effect. This may be causing you to overproduce stomach acid now. What's most likely happened is that your body became reliant on the drug to suppress the amount of acid produce by the stomach and now, it suddenly has to readjust to no longer having it an...

often i get tremours in the hands which is not controllable at times. it will not be there when there is a normal intake of alcohol. pls suggest a way out. ## These would be considered alcohol detoxification symptoms, similar to the withdrawal symptoms that someone gets when they have been abusing drugs. Your body gets so used to the constant alcohol use that it no longer remembers how to function without it. As to a way out, your best option is to pursue proper treatment. There are medications and therapies that your doctor can help you find. They will help you cope, both physically and mentally. Have you consulted a doctor, yet?

In May the FDA issued a new drug that limits or reduced withdrawal symptoms. Has anyone used it? Does it help in cold turkey situations? Is it expensive? ## Hello Oshan, Could you be a bit more specific? Do you know what the new drugs name is or what the drug is that is causing the withdrawal symptoms in the first place? ## Are you by chance talking about Lucemyra (Lofexidine)?? It seems to match your description of being approved in May and having the same use. I'm sure it would be costly since it's being sold as a new drug name unless your insurance would subsidize it. According to GoodRx, it's close to $2,000 and that's with a coupon. "FDA approves the first non-opioid treatment for management of opioid withdrawal symptoms in adults For Immediate Release - May 16,...

I have been on Fentanyl 100mcg/hr, In vivo delivery of 100mcg/hr for 72 hours and I change them every 2 days instead of every 3 days so the amount of medication doesn't drop too low. I am wondering how the withdrawal is with this drug. How severe, how long it takes to get out of your system and if there is another drug used to help with the weaning? Does one need to be hospitalized & under a doctors care? There are also other drugs involved- Hydromorphone 8mg,2 every 4 hrs,Tizanidine 4mg 2/4 times daily,& Baclofen 10 mg 1 twice a day. ## Ask your doctor about Suboxone. it is a truly miracle pill. you will have absolutely no problem at all going through withdrawal, i personally know for a fact that suboxin will supress all symptoms and will keep you energized, like youve neve...

Im a 58 yr old woman. I'm bipolar, reclusive and my husband is an over the road trucker. 4 years ago i was put on Percocet 10/325. The dr missed a broken shoulder bone so i switched Drs who added MS Contin. I had rotator cuff surgery but within 3 months I went to bed at Thanksgiving and woke up at the hospital on Xmas. I had severe pneumonia - they induced the coma as my oxygen was mid 60s, and after 3 chest tubes failed, they had to go in and physically debride my lung. So besides shoulder to wrist pain I have phantom nerve pain over that scar. My dr told me the nerves cant connect. I don't take street drugs, nor seek drugs, but my vision is bad and my husband left a tablet in a dish by my chair which i thought was a Percocet and took it. Well, it wasn't. I knew i was going...

Please be ware there is no explaining what will happen to you physically and mentally you will wish you where dead and you feel like your going to I was on 80mg of methadone for 1 month I did 1\4 of an ampuill it was the worst experience I don't think they put o the warning labels what happened but it was really BAD ## Hi Pat, Sorry to hear about what happened. Sounds like you had a pretty grueling experience there. And I can only imagine how concerned I would be too, without having any prior warning labels/interactions listed on the packaging to help make sense of what's going on. From what I've read, it's probably not safe to use either of these drugs within at least a week of each other. Taking subutex (buprenorphine) directly after methadone could potentially put you...

Has anyone ever heard of this medication being prescribed for withdrawal symptoms from Methadone and if so what do I need to look for as far as side effects. It has been prescribed to my 42 year old husband who is now completely off of Methadone used for chronic pain. ## Well the correct drug name is Imipramine, it is classified as an antidepressant. These are used a lot of times, to help treat withdrawal effects from narcotic drugs, because the narcotics act not only for your pain, but they also have an effect on brain chemicals and stopping them can upset the delicate balance.
