I am allergic to sulphonamides in antibotic - when I took trimethoprim I got Stevens Johnson Syndrome. I went in hospitla yesterday. Was given morphine for pain and then co-codamol. Last night I felt very sick and dizzy and was kept in hospital this morning an hour an a half after taking more co-codamol i sat up in bed and had all the symptoms of passing out but didn't go fully. My heart was pounding etc. Could there be a link to my allergy as my skin has been itching and my arm burning but not rash as yet. I stopped taking them - doctor withdrew them. ## Hello, Vaness! How are you? I'm not a doctor, but I'm more inclined to think that what you experienced were just side effects from the narcotics. Everything you've listed, including the itching, are known possible side ...

+LSPERNOL,+ CEPHALEXIN 500MG/+ HYDROCODONE 5MG,325,+ CELEXA+LAMICTAL+INDOMETHICIN+BC POWDER. IS THIS A SAFE COMBO FOR HEAL OF THE FOOT CELLULITUS? ## Hello, Ace! How are you? Are you taking or planning on taking all of these, at once? No, that isn't necessary. Cellulitis is an infection, so it requires an antibiotic and something for pain, if it's painful, but this is way too much stuff to be taking. What has your doctor instructed you to take? Please post back with more details, thank you!

Is citalopram a sulfa drug? I just started this, and I'm starting to feel the tingling and burning in my hands. I'm allergic to sulfa. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? No, this is not a sulfonamide. Citalopram is classified by the FDA as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain. However, it is known that if you're allergic to one medication, there is a definite risk that you will also be allergic to others. Did you experience any other adverse effects?

The doctor wants to change me to Diovan and Hydrochlorothiazide. I am currently on Lisinopril 40mg. I am afraid to change. I am allergic to sulfa drugs. I have had a cold/flu for about 2 months and he thinks Lisinopril may be causing the cough. (this is a new doctor to me). I have been on Lisinopril for 10 years and have had no problems. Not sure what to do. Also Diovan is a tier 4 drug. Lisinopril is a tier 1. ## Hydrochlorothiazide is a sulfonamide, but they don't always cause problems in people with sulfa allergies. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. I've taken it without a problem, but had a very bad allergic reaction to the antibiotic Bactrim and am listed as being sulfa allergic. However, it is best to proceed with caution. Have you discussed the issue with your ...

Is it alright to take Bactrim when you are also taking synthroid? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between taking these medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. Bactrim is an antibiotic, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Bactrim is Sulfameth. If you are allergic to "Sulfa" drugs, also known as"Sulfonamides", DO NOT take the Antibiotics; BACTRIM, or SEPTRA. Also, the diuretic (fluid) pill LASIX. The blood pressure pill LISINOPRIL has also caused a reaction in some people with Sulfa allergies.

can i take cleocin if am allergic to biaxin pencillin and sulfa drugs? ## Hello, T! How are you? The Cleocin is in a different class, it's a lincosamide antibiotic, so in theory it should be okay. However, there is no way of knowing if you will or will not be allergic to it, too. You should also double check with your doctor and pharmacist, before taking it, to be extra cautious. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 1 Doxycycline a day to prevent broncitis and the Dr put me on Sulfameth TMP today is it safe to take these two antibiotics at the same time?? ## Hi Judi, Based on my research in the drug databases, there are no drug interactions found between Doxycycline and Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. More information about each of these drugs can be viewed in the links below: Please post back if you have any other questions or comments to add regarding this. ## I was just prescribed both medications and all I have to say is if you don't want to throw up every time you take them, then dont take them at the same time.

I was put in the hospital for 7 days come to find out I was allergic to sulfa now im on subuoxon and I cant hardy breathe ## Hello, Juju! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Suboxone is an opiate, so it can cause respiratory depression as a side effect. What dosage are you on? The U.S. FDA classifies it as opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, there is a chance you may be allergic to it, as well. Typically, when one is allergic to one medication, they find others that they are also allergic to.

If someone has an allergy reaction to sulfa can they take Amox tr-k clv 500-125mg tan is a white oblong shaped tablet ## Hi adriana, Are you able to provide the imprint on this pill? There's really too many different types of drugs and manufacturers to pin point every pill that contains sulfa, but with the imprint I can lookup and contact the manufacturer of this pill, regarding your concern. The link below lists a few medications that notably contain sulfa, but there are a lot of mixed answers floating around the net that pertain to Amoxicillin: For future reference I would just clarify with your doctor and/or local pharmacy that you have an allergy to sulfa; this way your current and future prescriptions won't contain any. I hope this helps!

I have blisters on my tongue. I know that I am allergic to the atom sulfur as well as sulfa drugs. Do synthroid or trazodone contain sulfur? ## There are far too many to possibly list them all here. Synthroid, however, contains Levothyroxine and neither it, nor the Trazodone are sulfur based, to my knowledge, but you should check with your pharmacist to be sure, since I don't know what all the inactive ingredients may be. I just want to know, what cause this, and what antiobiotics can be taken to avoid dis? ## You need to go see a doctor. I am a female and immediately know when I have a kidney infection because my urine has the nastiest smell and it's also extremely foggy. If this is the case for you go see a doctor now, I can only take cipro for my kidney infections because of my allergy to sulfa drugs. I'm allergic to Sulpha based drugs, but I am into cooking and wondered if it would be safe for me to try black sea salt? in the descriptions it keeps mentioning it has a sulphur like taste, smell, etc, in it's description, but I can't seem to find out if it's actually sulphur based. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ## There is a difference between sulfa drugs and actual sulfur. Can you eat egg yolks without a problem? If so, then you are not allergic to sulfur, because they are very high in it. I am also allergic to sulfa drugs, but have no problem with actual sulfur. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for the info, no, I have no problem with eggs, so will be able to actually try the black salt, appreciate the help.

I'm 40 y/o now. My Gynecologist prescribed me with conzace cap H3O. I had my surgery for endemetriosis and mioma last June 3, 2008. What are the good and bad side effects of Conzace cap H3O? ## I was unable to find any information regarding Conzace, since it is not manufactured in the US. They are made in the Philippines, and are vitamins used a dietary supplements, and not drugs. Since these are vitamins, it is hard to determine the side effects. Everyone reacts differently to vitamins, I personally had a bad experience with to much B12. Your medication contains vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and Zinc Sulfate. Please post back if you have any more information to add so I can further assist you. ## Can this vitamin make menstruation irregular?
