Is a round white pill with a "D" and a "12" indicate a 500 mg Metformin? ## Hello, Douglas! How are you? I believe the marking you're looking at is actually an A 12, the A is rounded and does look like a D if you hold the pill sideways. And yes, it is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 500mgs of Metformin. Looks different than my previous pills, just want to double check. ## this was my post, found out that the pharmacy had the wrong manufacturer on the label. Mystery solved. Sorry about the confusion, pharmacies should really be a bit more precise, but I'm happy to clear this up for you. :-) The only difference is the manufacturer, the original one was manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, which is what the wats stands for and the new one is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, as designated by the amne. Rather than saying it's a substitute, they should really have just put a notice on it that it is the same medication, but may look different than that which you'd received before. You can view a detailed description of the drug, by clicking on the link below... Just curious, but have you ever looked into any natural methods for controlling the diabetes? Type 2 diabetes can be "cured" on a raw food diet consuming lots of fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts. I hope this can shed some light for you for other options besides prescription meds. I took the generic version, did not agree with me (muscle pain). I switched to fortament recently but the 2 pills look exactly the same. What is the visual difference between these 2 meds? I know metformin is generic & fortamet is a brand name. I would like to know the difference in what they look like, please. ## Hello, Elle! How are you? What are the markings on them? These do not resemble the others that I had been taking from another pharmacy. ## You do have the correct medication, this does contain 500mgs of Metformin. Not all generics will look the same, as they have to have unique markings so the contents and manufacturer can be identified in case of emergency. I have just started Metformin XR. Right now I am on the what I have been told is the lowest dose, 500 mgs at night. Have been bedridden most of the time with muscle toxicity due to Levaquin! Recently have extreme pain in my left knee with great knee replacements over 20 years ago and still in good shape!
