What does it mean to take three tablets daily? Do I take three at once or at three separate times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner)? ## If all it says is to take "3 tablets daily" you should take them all at once, unless otherwise noted. Especially prednisone. Otherwise it would say "take 1 tablet 3 times a day (tid)", or "1 tablet up to 3 tablets daily as needed (prn)". ## Hi Sharlene, It depends if the more detailed instructions say "3 tablets once per day" or "1 tablet 3 times per day". If they indicate something more like one tablet at a time (3 times per day), this generally indicates 1 tablet every 8 hours (unless otherwise noted). So I think breakfast, lunch and dinner would be a good way to spread this out. Since 8 hours goes into 24 hou...

1 tab means by mouth, when a patient is awaiting an early morning procedure you may see a sign on the door nothing po ## Thanks for taking time to share this information. I find it rather common to see notes/signs on physician's doors when they're away from their desk. Although I still don't understand what "PO" even means in the context of which it was used. Would you be so kind as to elaborate a bit more on that and how it relates to taking 1 tablet daily? ## PO per os ("by mouth") It means by mouth. Take 1 tab or pill qd po means take one pill by mouth each day, Take 1 tab qid po means take one tablet four times a day by mouth, usually followed by every 6 hours. my wifes lisinopril-po 20mg tablets twice daily was changed by her Doctor to 40mg's of lisinopril-eq, and I am trying to understand what the difference is between P.O E.Q so I know exactly what this medicine is doing for her overall health. Thank You ## Hello, Slim! How are you? PO just means per os (orally), as in she's supposed to swallow the tablets and the eq means equivalent, as in the pharmacy can give her a generic or multiple tablets/capsules, as long as it is an equivalent dosage. For example, if the pharmacy doesn't have the 40mg on hand, they are allowed to give her 2 of the 20mg ones, or etc. as long as it equals the 40mgs that she's been directed to take. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, heada...

when taking medication & the directions are 1 tablet 3 times a day, how many hour's are between each tablet ## Hi Katt, When the directions state "1 tablet, 3 times daily", I think most people base the "3 times daily" off of a 24 hour period, where as you can simply divide 24 by 3 times and have "1 tablet, every 8 hours". Some people might not wait 8 hours and may just take it 3 times spread out during the day and not have any at night. I personally would go with the "every 8 hours" deal, because I find it easier to track. I hope this helps to answer your question! :) ## David you must be a machine being up for 24hrs, when do you sleep? For 1 pill every 8 hours you times 8 by 2=16. 1 pill at 0hrs, next at 8hrs then final at 16hrs. Most people are ...

I have taken hydrmorphone (4mg) 3 times a day for 3 yrs now. How long does does hydromorphone remain in your blood? ## Hi Warhorse1, When it comes to determining how long Hydromorphone remains in your blood, my research suggests that blood work done by a lab can only detect it for up to an "estimated" 24 hours or so (meaning there's probably negligible amounts or none at all by that point). Given Hydromorphone's relatively short half-life of about 2.5 hours, I wouldn't necessarily doubt those claims either. However, I'm sure these numbers could easily become cumulative over the course of 3 years and also based upon its frequency of use. Things like that may be a bit hard to factor into a time frame, but I hope this helps provide you with a ballpark figure. Happy ...

I've been prescribed the above for a recurrant boil on my inner thigh. The dose of flucloxacillin is 500mg x4daily for two months. It's day two, so far I've only managed 3tabs a day. I've been prescribed Bupropion XL to take 2 150 mg once daily. I feel it's not enough. Has anyone tried cutting the pills in half to add 75mg more a day? Are there any risks associated with it? ## You cannot cut these tablets, the XL means that they are time released and cutting them could cause you to get too much of the medication at once. Learn more Bupropion details here. How long have you been taking it? It does take about 4 to 6 weeks for it to reach its full effect in your body and for you to know if it is going to work for you. So, you may just need to give it a little more time. ## Try getting the 300mg XL instead of taking 2 150mg once a day it could make a big difference!
