my wifes lisinopril-po 20mg tablets twice daily was changed by her Doctor to 40mg's of lisinopril-eq, and I am trying to understand what the difference is between P.O E.Q so I know exactly what this medicine is doing for her overall health. Thank You ## Hello, Slim! How are you? PO just means per os (orally), as in she's supposed to swallow the tablets and the eq means equivalent, as in the pharmacy can give her a generic or multiple tablets/capsules, as long as it is an equivalent dosage. For example, if the pharmacy doesn't have the 40mg on hand, they are allowed to give her 2 of the 20mg ones, or etc. as long as it equals the 40mgs that she's been directed to take. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, heada...

What does 10-5 mean on Lortabs? My prescription doesn't seem to be working for my pain and I was wondering if it meant Lortab 10 mg or Lortab 5 mg. So if it is 5 I can get a stronger MG ## What it seems to be is that your doctor was prescribing the tablets with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. I could be wrong, since I am not a medical professional, but I have seen it abbreviated this way before, from other similar posts. And no, a doctor cannot write it as an either/or prescription and let you pick which one you want, even if they tried, no pharmacy would fill it that way. More than likely, they will call your doctor to double check the prescription, to be certain of what exactly they are supposed to dispense to you. If your current dosage is not working for your p...

What does it mean to take three tablets daily? Do I take three at once or at three separate times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner)? ## If all it says is to take "3 tablets daily" you should take them all at once, unless otherwise noted. Especially prednisone. Otherwise it would say "take 1 tablet 3 times a day (tid)", or "1 tablet up to 3 tablets daily as needed (prn)". ## Hi Sharlene, It depends if the more detailed instructions say "3 tablets once per day" or "1 tablet 3 times per day". If they indicate something more like one tablet at a time (3 times per day), this generally indicates 1 tablet every 8 hours (unless otherwise noted). So I think breakfast, lunch and dinner would be a good way to spread this out. Since 8 hours goes into 24 hou...

What is the meaning of "take 4 capsules per day"? (i.e. How far apart is the dosing schedule?) ## Generally, that would be every 6 hours, but it can depend on the specific medication being asked about. Can you post back with more details? In some cases, it may mean that you can take all 4, at once, it may mean two doses of two capsules, or even taking up to four a day but not always four if not necessary. For instance, I take a medication for nerve pain, and it is prescribed to be taken up to a certain number of times a day, but that doesn't mean it has to be taken so many hours apart, I can take them all at once at night, or take several throughout the day.

I have been taking Burpropion HCL SR 150mg for about 4 months now and I recently got my refill for the next three months. However, instead of saying "Bupropion HCL SR 150MG Tablet" It now says "G.E. Bupropion HCL SR 150MG Tablet". My pills also used to be white with a distinct chemical smell, but these new pills are purple and have a fruity smell. I just want to make sure it isn't a change in composition as I have been taking these routinely for my major depressive disorder and have seen great progress and don't want to have a regression. Thanks for any info! ## Are there any markings on them? When initials, or an abbreviation is listed, before a drug name, it usually stands for the manufacturer. Bupropion may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mo...

Can the side effects include stiffness & cramps in both hands? ## Hello, Paul! How are you? That means that they contain 20 milliequivalents per tablet, that's the dosage and the ER denotes them as being time released. The main side effect of this supplement, as listed by the FDA, is stomach pain and nausea, so it's best to take it with food. As to the stiffness and cramping, that is most likely caused by your potassium being low, but you should have it checked out, just in case. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am taking lots chloride 10meg er cap for potassium but I still get leg and arm cramps. So I stopped taking them for a week no cramps. So what gives.

I got a pill from a friend who said it will calm me down..she said it was valium...but it looks differant...its light yelllow and round. There is a P on top and under the score line there is a 5 ## Since this is Canadian, I can't definitively confirm it, but this pill has come up several times and several Canadians have identified it as being a generic for Valium, with the % designating it as a 5mg tablet. In case you aren't familiar with Valium, here's a link to more Valium details . It does require a prescription and can be habit forming, so it shouldn't be used, without a doctor's approval. Is there anything else I can help with?

someone one who takes ferrous sulfate 325 mg ta wants to know what the ta stands for ## Hello, George! How are you? That just stands for tablet. Doctor's sometimes designate such on a prescription, to make sure their patient receives one specific form. For instance, they may specify that they be given tablets only, if they want them to be able to divide the dosage, if necessary, since that cannot be done with capsules. The FDA classifies this as an iron supplement and lists its most common side effects as being dark stool and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have "gle" on my prescription. It literally says "Gabapentin 600mg TAB GLE". It normally says Gabapentin 600mg TAB MET. I believe it's the abbreviation for the manufacturer, but I'd like to be sure before I take them, as they are a different shape. ## Hi Pattie, My research leads me to believe that GLE stands for Glenmark Pharmaceuticals or Glenmark Generics, the packager/manufacturer of your Gabapentin. NDC: 68462-0126 Inactive Ingredients: Inactive Ingredients: -Starch, Corn -Copovidone K25-31 -Poloxamer 407 -Magnesium Stearate -Polyethylene Glycols -Hypromelloses -Titanium Dioxide -Talc -Polysorbate 80 -Water You can view an image of the packaging label by visiting the link below: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=3865a6e3-112c-490c-82ac-3540...

My perscription for bupropion SR 150mg tablets - I understand what all that means. I want to know what the SA in front of WATSON LABS means? does this mean it was made in South Africa or South America? My pharmacy has switched something and my generic used to be a purple round pill and is now a white round pill. ## The SA stands for sustained action, it's just another way of designating that it's a time released formulation of the medication. It means the same thing as the SR in your prescription, which stood for sustained release. Learn more Bupropion details here. Are there any other comments or questions?

what does a lor-tab 10/500 look like ## Are there any markings on the tablet you are asking about? This is what enables us to identify it for you. Since it is available as both a generic and name brand, there are quite a few on the market. Some of the markings and descriptions include: White, oblong, M363 Blue, oblong, WATSON540 pink, oblong, V 3600 pink, oblong, UCB 910 And this is by no means a comprehensive list. Do any of these match the tablet you have? ## I have a pink ucb910. Is this the name brand?

Are you on any other medications? Can you please describe your feeling strange more specifically? The NIH does warn that it can cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, and weight loss. No, even the ones dispense in hospitals have markings on them. Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, it is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It is available only by prescription and all manufactured prescription medications in the U.S. are require to have markings to enable their identification, in case of emergency, even in a hospital setting. What does the v on the one side of the pill mean. People say it's like real vicoden. What is its meaing? ## Hello, Brad! How are you? If you're referring to a stylized V that is pressed into one side of the tablet, that is a simply a logo that was used by Vintage Pharmaceuticals, which is now owned by Qualitest. It means nothing in relation to what's in the pill, though many have misunderstoof and thought it meant it was Vicodin. However, this manufacturer makes many different pharmaceutical medications and most of them are not Vicodin, or its generics. The FDA classifies Vicodin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
