I have "gle" on my prescription. It literally says "Gabapentin 600mg TAB GLE". It normally says Gabapentin 600mg TAB MET. I believe it's the abbreviation for the manufacturer, but I'd like to be sure before I take them, as they are a different shape. ## Hi Pattie, My research leads me to believe that GLE stands for Glenmark Pharmaceuticals or Glenmark Generics, the packager/manufacturer of your Gabapentin. NDC: 68462-0126 Inactive Ingredients: Inactive Ingredients: -Starch, Corn -Copovidone K25-31 -Poloxamer 407 -Magnesium Stearate -Polyethylene Glycols -Hypromelloses -Titanium Dioxide -Talc -Polysorbate 80 -Water You can view an image of the packaging label by visiting the link below: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=3865a6e3-112c-490c-82ac-3540...

ER meaning extended release--What is the ingredient used to make the medicine ER? ## There is really no specific ingredient that can be mentioned. When a medication is time released, it has to do with its formulation. For example, the FDA lists some of them as using a sponge like substance, once you swallow it, stomach acid, and other fluids you drink are slowly absorbed and this forces the medication to be slowly released. In some cases, if you look closely, you will see 2 little areas on the pill that are thinner than the rest of the pill to allow this to occur, and then the shell of the pill is expelled as body waste. This is just one method that is used to make a medication time released, there are several others. What specific medication were you asking about? If you can post back ...

I have a prescription for Gabapentin that I used or anxiety. My doctor gave me a prescription for 3 months worth. I noticed on the label it says Refills: P what does P mean? ## I must admit this is one I am not familiar with and I'm wondering if it is a typo. Normally there would be a number there, or it would state no refills. However, only your pharmacist can say for sure, there may be some reason they use it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Gabapentin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Next to my fill date of generic Percocet I usually have a MCRK code but this new supplier has MADV. Is there a meaning for this? I just feel it's not as strong as what I've been getting ## This new medication 5/325 Oxycodone / APAP has RP stamped on one side of medication ## Hello, Tom! How are you? The MCRK and MADV are abbreviations for the generic manufacturers. For instance, MCRK stands for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. In case of emergency, the pharmacies do this to keep track of the manufacturer and/or distributor and the RP is a manufacturers logo. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else...

I was prescribed trazodone 100mg, then my doctor gave me another prescription that read trazodone 100mg QP. What does the QP stand for? ## Usually, that means it to be taken once daily, at night. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. The drowsiness it causes is why your usually directed to take it at night. Is there anything else I can help with?

What does the letter c indicate at the beginning of an RC number ## It may be an initial for the manufacturer, which could translate into any number of pharmaceutical companies that start with a C. Unfortunately without seeing the entire label first hand, I think all anyone can do is guesstimate what it truly stands for. Whereabouts did you get your prescription filled? CVS or Rite Aid? If you ever get an opportunity to ask the pharmacy that gave it to you, kindly post back here with any updates, so we can all figure this riddle out...

Immediately following the drug name on my prescription, is the word "Leg": Losartan Potassium 100mg Tab Leg What does "Leg" mean? ## Hello, Gayle! How are you? That is an abbreviation for the manufacturer, Legacy Pharmaceuticals. Some pharmacies list it on the label, some don't, and some might change each time you pick up a refill. LOL The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, hypotension, and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What does "LEG" mean on my 20mg Lisinopril prescription? I cannot find the explanation for the letters LEG on this prescription.

My daughter has just been given this prescription: DILAUDID – 8 MG Take 3 Tabs PO TID for PRN 30Days Qty:270 Repeats:0 What does it mean? ## 3 pills twice a day for 30 days no refills, this is an unusual rx what is it for? ## The PO means per oral route, so that means to swallow them and the TID actually means three times in a day. Twice in a day would be BID. This is Dialudid, which is a very potent narcotic, so being told she can take 3 of them at once is very unusual and if she isn't tolerant to narcotics, they could make her ill, so she might not want to start with 3. Learn more Dilaudid details here. What was she prescribed them for? ## Oh and just to add a further note on part that I missed, the PRN means she's to take them on an as needed basis, so this...

So... my Dr. wrote my prescription for Adderall but it had a later date on it than I needed so I went back to get the right one. Meaning I have two prescriptions for Adderall and was thinking of getting the second one filled at a smaller pharmacy, no using insurance. I know you shouldn't do this so I don't need the lecture, I'm just wondering if they will be able to search and tell I already got this Rx filled a week ago. I don't incredibly abuse it. Instead of taking one 30mg tablet per day, I take closer to 3. I do not want to ask him to up my meds. My questions include - will the Dr. get a copy of the Rx from the pharmacy? Is there a database with my name on it saying dates I filled adderall? POSITIVE help is greatly appreciated. ## Yes, there is a database of some ki...

What does 10-5 mean on Lortabs? My prescription doesn't seem to be working for my pain and I was wondering if it meant Lortab 10 mg or Lortab 5 mg. So if it is 5 I can get a stronger MG ## What it seems to be is that your doctor was prescribing the tablets with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. I could be wrong, since I am not a medical professional, but I have seen it abbreviated this way before, from other similar posts. And no, a doctor cannot write it as an either/or prescription and let you pick which one you want, even if they tried, no pharmacy would fill it that way. More than likely, they will call your doctor to double check the prescription, to be certain of what exactly they are supposed to dispense to you. If your current dosage is not working for your p...

1 tab means by mouth, when a patient is awaiting an early morning procedure you may see a sign on the door nothing po ## Thanks for taking time to share this information. I find it rather common to see notes/signs on physician's doors when they're away from their desk. Although I still don't understand what "PO" even means in the context of which it was used. Would you be so kind as to elaborate a bit more on that and how it relates to taking 1 tablet daily? ## PO per os ("by mouth") It means by mouth. Take 1 tab or pill qd po means take one pill by mouth each day, Take 1 tab qid po means take one tablet four times a day by mouth, usually followed by every 6 hours. Rx Vicodin 5/500 sig. 2 tab q4h prn pain #150 rf X 5 . Can someone (with more knowledge than me) please decode this mess for me. thanks ## It means take vicodin 5/500 which means 5mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetametaphen. take 2 every 4 hours as needed for pain. They are giving you 150 tabs with 5 refills which is quite a bit. ## That informatiion is correct, thanks for posting it Deb! I received 2 scripts from my doc, both are wrote the exact same, Norco 10/325 with the exact same dosage and quantity, but I read that the second one, the doc has to write "do not fill til" on it and he didn't, what does that mean? Is it no good now or I should have filled them both at the same time? ## Hello, Wondering! How are you? You'll need to stop back at your doctor's office to have it corrected. You won't be able to get both filled, because such prescriptions are tracked, via a computerized government database and even trying to get them both filled could result in your becoming red flagged and not being able to get any filled in the future. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nause...

The prescription dosage for my dog's meds is 2 to 3 tablets by mouth up to every 8 hours as needed for pain. The more I think about it, the more it confuses me. ## Wow, Chris! I can see why that would be confusing. I'll try to make it clear for you based on U.S. veterinary prescribing instructions, basically this means you can give your pup a maximum of 3 tablets, as maximum of 3 times a day, in doses 8 hours apart (but no more than 8 hours apart). Although it never hurts to double check with your vet, as I can only go by what you've typed in this post and have not seen the prescribing instructions myself. What medication was prescribed?

I have frequest migraines that last several days. A nurse friend suggested I try Dilaudid. Is this something that is effective for migraines? And does it come in generic form? I have no insurance. The only medicine that works for me is Fiorinal #3 ( pronounced : fear - in - nal # 3 - # 3 means with codeine ) as long as your not allergic to codeine. It's an old time remedy, but I've tried all the new stuff and nothing else works, This does.
