On my priscription bottle it list the amount of pills in the bottle as 30. Under that it says DS 15. Does that mean days supply or something else? ## Hi Bill, This may or may not be the case with your Rx, but I often see the abbreviation "DS" being referred to as "Double Strength" for some antibiotics such as Bactrim DS / Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS / SMZ-TMP DS. However, I would still encourage you to contact your doctor or local pharmacy just to know for certain. What type of prescription is it? ## Xanax says Qty 90 underneath DS 30. I'm confused. TBH I'm going to have to start counting my meds before I leave my pharmacy BC there's no way there were 90 in the bottle. I'm confused. I've been taking this med since 15 and I'm now 43. Somethi...

Next to my fill date of generic Percocet I usually have a MCRK code but this new supplier has MADV. Is there a meaning for this? I just feel it's not as strong as what I've been getting ## This new medication 5/325 Oxycodone / APAP has RP stamped on one side of medication ## Hello, Tom! How are you? The MCRK and MADV are abbreviations for the generic manufacturers. For instance, MCRK stands for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. In case of emergency, the pharmacies do this to keep track of the manufacturer and/or distributor and the RP is a manufacturers logo. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What does the sod stand for on phenytoin sod ext its a 100 mg purple and white capsule ## Why is it becoming more difficult to find xanax on The streets? ## What does SOD DR EC mean on the Diclofenac bottle? ## The SOD stands for Sodium, it designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from, that's why some list sodium, some list hydrochloride and etc. As to the DR on a prescription, just like XR, SR, ER and quite a few others, it designates that medication as being time released. As to the EC, from what I've found, it's used similar to ES, DS and etc. to designate that as being an extra strength dosage, rather than the standard prescribed amount. Are there any other questions or comments? ## My perscription bottle says. Metformin 500mg Tab.**RDS WHAT ...

what numbers would you find on a prescription bottle for labetalol identifying it as that drug. ## what numbers would you find on a prescription bottle of lamitcal? ## What numbers are you referring to? Did you mean the NDC (National Drug Code) numbers? If so, then I would need the relevant dosage. As to other numbers on the bottle, such as the RX number, those are internal to the pharmacy and only relevant to their computer systems.

Ihave a newscript for levothroxine 50 MCG - things usually say MG ## Hi Linn, I definitely hear you on this one. Prescription drugs can be more confusing than algebra at times. Lol The difference of mcg vs mg is the measurement of each. MCG is the abbreviation of micrograms. MG is the abbreviation of milligram. You would need 1000 micrograms to make up 1 milligram. For your own reference: 50 mcg = 0.050 mg Learn More: Levothyroxine Details I hope this helps! :) ## Thank you. That clears up a lot. You are right, it is as bad as algebra which I also did not excel in. ## What is the difference between b12 5000mcg and b12 1000 mcg. I have been taking b12 1000mcg. One bottle says Simbastatin 10mg tab NOR and the refill says Simbastatin 10mg tab ZYD The one with the ZYD is pink and say ZA20 on the pill and the other one,NOR, is white, round and has a 10 on it. Are there any other questions or comments? ## My pharmacist always tells me when he gives me a medication by a different vendor so that I won't be worried and he also puts a sticker on the bottle stating it looks different but it's the same medication. ## What does NOR on a bottle of prescription meds mean?

What does the "LEG" mean on the prescription bottle immediately following the dosage (20 MG TAB LEG)? This was for acid reflux medication, nothing to do with legs. ## I found the answer. LEG means Lower Esophageal-Gastrointestinal (symptoms, treatment). The medication was for severe heartburn and acid reflux. ## Thanks for the helpful feedback Bruce! Just out of curiosity, which medication are you taking exactly? At first glance I was under the unique impression that LEG might've been an abbreviation for the active ingredient (since I don't normally see the indications mentioned on a prescription bottle - typically just the drug name in my experience), but what you have found certainly makes sense - especially if the medication was prescribed for a related condition. Hi I have white spots in my tonsils and my throat feels cut up. I know it's tonsillitis that I have and therefore was going to ring doctors to get a prescription but my mum have me a full packet of Amoxicillin. I can't see an expiry date on packet but it does say on pharmacy sticker "ChkBy 27/06/16". Do you know what this stands for please? And should they still be ok to take?? ## "Check by" that date (Chkby) 06/27/2016. Take to pharmacy. Never good to use old antibiotics and self diagnose. A quick swab of the throat gives an answer and allows you to get the right med by a doctor. Could be a virus. ## All that means if it's an old bottle of Amoxicilin that if it wasn't taken by the chk by/expiring date back this past June obviously then u cld still take i...

on one of my prescriptions on the bottle it says OXYCODON HCL-APAP 10/325 and the pill is oblong. I had them refilled and the bottle says OXYCODONE-APAP 10-325 and the pill is round. So what I want to know is what the HCL stands for and are these the same medications? ## Hello, Anne! How are you? Yes, they are the same. The HCL just stands for Hydrochloride and designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from, they just didn't include it on the one label. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have a brand new prescription of teva-amoxicillin. I had a gum infection - within two pills the pain was gone and I have this bottle full.. I now have a temperature with which I believe is due to a chest infection. Will this medication help? ## Amoxicillin is an antibiotic, which can be used to treat many different type of infections. However, you should finish the full course of the medication, as prescribed, even if you start to feel better, before you have finished. The pain may have went away, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the infection cleared up. Thus, you could be sick now, because it was never fully treated and has now spread to other parts of your body. In addition, only taking part of the prescription for an antibiotic creates the very real risk of developing an...

How many days are in one bottle taking 3 times a day ## 90 ## Actually it depends on how many pills are in the bottle you are talking about, whatever amount your doctor wrote on your prescription, divided by 3. Some insurance plans allow a 90 day supply, some only a 30, so it really depends on how many are in the bottle you have and none of us can guess at that. If you look over the paperwork from your pharmacy from when you got your prescription, it will have a line on there that says Days Supply: and then a number and that will answer your question, or you can just ask your pharmacist if you can't locate the information on your own. I do see that Carol posted a response, but that is not necessarily correct, just because she received a 90day supply at once, doesn't mean everyon...

My mother has a prescription that reads TAKE 1 TABLET UP TO 4-5 TIMES DAILY for 60 pills. The pharmacy said this is for a 15 day supply but she has to take 5 tablets a day which is a 12 days supply and not a 14 day supply like the doctor has prescribed her? Then she is told that it is technically a day early? Why is this pharmacy doing this? ## Hello, Panama! How are you? It's not the pharmacy that's doing it, that's the way the doctor wrote it. Being written that she can take up 4 to 5 tablets daily, generally means that the doctor isn't expecting her to need to take 5 tablets each day, there are some days they expect her to need less than that. It's normal for any medication that's written to be taken on an 'as needed' basis. If the doctor meant for her...
