Does nitrofur macr 100 mg help to reduce acne? I know it is a medication to help urinary infection. ## Hello, Jess! How are you? It may help some, but it's generally not the preferred antibiotic to treat severe acne. The antibiotic of choice is Doxycycline. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Did your doctor prescribe it for you? Or are you just looking for an acne solution? ## Yes, I'm looking for a better solution to treat acne. Thanks! ## You've very welcome! I'd suggest asking your doctor about trying Doxycycline for it. I took this twice in a row at 2:00. Is that okay? Also, is it okay to take one tomorrow morning and then 1 at night? ## Hi Mary, I just took a look at the dosing guidelines for this medication, and it states that Nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals capsulesÂshould be taken with food every 12 hours for seven days. Because of that strict 12 hour gap in between doses, I definitely wouldn't say it is ok to take them back to back like that. Schedule your doses so that you take 1 in the morning when you get up and one a couple hours before you go to bed (giving yourself enough time to leave you with 12 hours before the following morning dose). Is macrobid or the generic ( Nitrofur Macr 100) be related to Sulfer or Penicillin? ## Although this is an antibiotic, It does not contain Sulfur, nor is it related to Penicillin. Due to sulfa allergies, it must be stated on a medication when it contains a sulfur-based ingredient. This antibiotic does have a lot of side effects however, so you may be experiencing one or more of these if you do have any symptoms. You can read more about this drug by clicking on the links below: I would suggest looking into the vast number of natural antibiotic alternatives (in the form of herbs, essential oils, and dietary changes) if you're not getting the results you're looking for from Nitrofurantoin. I hope this helps!
