i got what was supposed to be an 8 mg. Dilaudid. It's about 3/8 inch diameter, white pill, no markings on one side, a large 8 on the other. That's it. ## What shape is the pill? Circular from the sounds of it but just making sure. ## @peteaudud, If you run a search on google images for "Hydromorphone M 8", you'll see one of the closest matches out there for the pill you're describing. Perhaps the letter "M" could've gotten smudged off? In either case, the imprint "M 8" on a white three-sided pill is identified as Hydromorphone hydrochloride (8 mg); a generic for Dilaudid. Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone and regular release tablets are only available in a maximum of 8mgs, the extended release in 16mgs and and extended release capsule in 32mgs. There are also generics on the market and they will all have different markings to enable their identification. Are there any markings on the tablet you are questioning? The pharmaceutical decomposition of dilaudid versus oxycodone is 4 milligrams of dilaudid = 10.67mg of oxycodone. When reading through these post its important to understand the differnt levels of metabolism of each of these opiates along with different foods and different medications also interfering with the absorption of both. You can also use a SSRI like cymbalta to increase the absorption of all these opiates. I am a pain management physicians assistant. If or opiates do not work for pain you should be looking into nerve blocks and epidurals as part of your ongoing treatment with opiates. ## Do not, under any circumstance, get on Cymbalta while taking pain medications. I am curious as to how often this medication can be taken. Currently I take it every 8 hours, but it doesn't last that long. ## I take 6mg diludid suppossitory (2 3mg )with 50 mg Phenegan shots every 3-4 hours for my Gastroparesis Episodes. I have build up a tolerance to the drugs and have to take high doses now. The body does seem to build up immunities to the two drugs and I have to up the doseage about every year.
