I just finished taking Amox-Clav 875MG. for 7, days, 2 a day for a dog bite. 2 days after taking my last pill, I have become very sick with diarrehea, and feel like I have a fever, but do not. I took this med for 2 days and stopped it. I had broken out with a very red rash on my leg and didn't get any new meds for my cold. Rashes seem to be a common side effect (or allergy) with these types of medications, but I would definitely still urge you to contact your doctor as soon as possible to let him know what's going on. There's only one potential problem I see with stopping an antibiotic before your treatment is up; and that is the development of "drug resistant bacteria", if the infection wasn't wiped out completely from the start. Your doctor may end up putting you on something stronger if that happens to be the case, but then again I'd probably stop taking it too...

I took one dose, 1 1/2 hrs later, vomiting, diaherra, sweating alot. Ended up in ER with dehydration, and hypothermia, temp @ 93 degrees. I'm guessing the sweating gave my hypothermia, since it's mid summer. Doc tried saying it was probably stomach flu. I got sick taking this med before, just not to this extreme. Apparently if my temp dropped more, I could of been in real trouble. ## Sorry about what you've been through, that's very rough. And I have to say that I am really not surprised. I was prescribed this med for 6 days for a severe head and chest infection. After 3 days I'm still seeing signs of infection. I called the dr and was told to wait a week and see how I felt. I had a sever upper respiratory infection over 3 months ago. Found out I had fluid in my ears. My ears were ringing so loud. Took the regular amoxicillin til it was gone. Sent back a second time, was prescribed claritin & nasal spray. Neither worked. Went back a second time because was told I had fluid behind eardrum. Was prescribed amoxicillin- clav 500 Was feeling well for 2 days. Now, I have this constant hissing noise in left ear. Also, my ear is like stereo! May i take it for a UTI? It expired 2014. ## Unless a specific bacteria is detected that can be treated by this medication, it is not usually the preferred on to treat a UTI. The one normally used most often is Nitrofurantoin, so it would be best to see your doctor and let them prescribe an appropriate antibiotic.
