Hi! I've never posted here, but hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. I have been on oxycodone 10mg for six years. The problem is, it's just not working as well for me anymore. A friend of mine, who had been on oxycodone for 16 years, has recently transitioned to methadone and is almost completely pain free. Does anyone else have experience with trading these two medications? Has your experience been the same? I just don't want to bother changing what I'm on now to something else if it's not going to relieve my pain. (I've also been on Dilaudid, Demerol and morphine, and for me, they're pretty useless for treating arthritis pain, so don't recommend those! LOL) I'm looking for something long-acting that will maybe give me my life back...

Is a tec 30 stronger than a percocet 5? Is taking a tec 30 the same as taking a percocet 30? ## If I am not mistaken TEC 30 contains 30 mg of Codeine, whereas a Percocet 5 contains 5 mg of Oxycodone. As far as comparisons go I had a look at the Equianalgesic table and it's showing that Codeine is 1/10th the relative strength of Morphine, where as Oxycodone is 1.5 times stronger than Morphine. So to break that down ... 30 mg of Codeine ≅ 3 mg of Morphine ... 5 mg of Oxycodone ≅ 7.5 mg of Morphine. In other words, a Percocet 5 is over twice as strong as 30 mg of Codeine.

I was on oxy's for 4 years and then I switched over to morphine sulfate 60s. AT one time I was on 14- 30mg oxycodone a day. When my doctor retired and I went to a pain center they immediately cut my dosage in half. At that time he started me on 100mg MS 2x a day. Now I'm completely off oxys and only take 2- 60mg MS a day. Looking back I realize the only reason I took the oxys was for that initial high and warm feeling. ## I'm very sorry about what happened to you, but am glad you've found the right medication to help you. Looking for a doctor in Delaware/PA for pain management of severe migraine headaches who will prescribe oxycodone liquid. I have 3 levels of herniated Lower Lumbar discsw which need replacing with prodisc but my insurance doesn't cover it. I was on Morphine for almost a decade and I am in constant pain. I work as much as possible but it is very physical work that I do so I need to get back onto some form of pain treatment which I haven't had in about 1 1/2 years now.
