metformin amne
I had my prescription filled and it says 500mg er tab amne, underneath was typed substituted for metformin 500 mg er tab wats, what's the difference ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Sorry about the confusion, pharmacies should really be a bit more precise, but I'm happy to clear this up for you. :-) The only difference is the manufacturer, the original one was manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, which is what the wats stands for and the new one is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, as designated by the amne. Rather than saying it's a substitute, they should really have just put a notice on it that it is the same medication, but may look different than that which you'd received before. White, oval pill. 500 on one side, hourglass and 4435 on other side. My question is: is the the extended release form of Metformin? I'm getting different results, and in past the pills have said XR500. Thanks fo ryour help. ## Yes, since you were obviously already looking at the regular online databases and getting conflicting information, I checked it out in a professional database that I use just so I can answer questions here like this, and yes, it is the extended release version, 500mgs. ## Thanks for that, Vernon. Guess it's just me! D ## LOL! No, not just you, many people have trouble finding the exact information they are seeking on a pill, the internet doesn't make it easy. I HAVE 2 BOTTLES OF METFORMIN HCL TAB 500MG. ONE BOTTLE HAS WHITE ROUND TABLET A/12 ON IT AND THE OTHER HAS WHITE OVAL TABLET a logo and 4331/500 ON IT. ARE THESE THE SAME MEDICATIONS? COULD THEY BE GENERIC AND THE OTHER BRAND NAME MEDICATION? ## I have two bottles of Metformin HLC Tabs. One is a refill for the other. The tabs are different shapes made by different companies. Same strength is the same. Is this a mistake. ## This type of thing does confuse many people, which is why I think more medications should be standardized as to how they look. However, right now they aren't, so you can receive the same medication, manufactured by different companies and they may look completely differently. As of this time, the way a medication looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the m... ...

Metformin Er 750
Just got my Metformin ER 750 refilled. The pills look different... could be different manufacturer? One has 93 on one side and 7212 on the other. The other has 143 stamped on one side and nothing I can see on the other side. Help? ## Yes, they are both the same medication, a controlled release formulation of Metformin in a 750mg dosage. The one with the 93 is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and the 143 is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals. It is common for the pharmacy to switch which generic they supply, depending on which company was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible for customers without insurance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was prescribed with CLOPIDOGREL -PLAGERINE 7... ...

metformin hcl 850 mg metformin her 1000
What is the difference between metformin hcl 850 & metformin her 1000? ## Hi Guzman, To answer your question Metformin HCL stands for "Hydrochloride", which from what I could gather, is used as a base to make the pills water-soluble. I haven't come across any specific details on what "HER" would stand for after the drug name. Are you sure it doesn't just say "ER" for extended release? Other than the obvious difference in the dosage you mentioned, the presence of Hydrochloride appears to be the primary difference between the two tablets. Outside of that, there might also be a different set of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) used. Although, one would have to look up the pill ID in order to get more information on that. You can learn more about th... ...

I know metformin is generic & fortamet is a brand name. I would like to know the difference in what they look like, please. ## Hello, Elle! How are you? What are the markings on them? I bet that if you look, they are different between the generic and name brand. Visually, what they look like means nothing, what tells them apart are the markings on them and the formulation of them.
