Just make sure you are taking your own medication & not someone else's. lol seriously, though, they have other meds for gout, Allopurinol which is for acute gout, the kind in a flare up, and colchicine, which is to control gout for the long term. I would talk to your doc about those first. But for temporary use, ask your doc about a low dose of hydro just til the flare up eases.

My problem is much like so many others on here. After being treated with meds for 12 years (120 Soma per month as well as 180 Norco 10 and 120 Valium 10) my wife which is on full disability was also treated by the same doc for 9 years. The doctor was raided by local police and DEA but was never charged with anything unfortunately the local press basically tried and convicted him in 1 week smear campain. I have been using Fosamax for 3 months, I have noticed severe pain in my big toe and just this week have severe pain in all my toes to the point of having trouble walking. I have been on 50mg of Topamax for weight loss and recently had what appears to be my first attack of gout.
