What Can Make So Sleepy All Day And Night

Just started on Nuvigil for daytime drowsiness from OSA, third day. First night I couldn't sleep; second night I took 3mg of melatonin and was able to sleep, but not quite as awake on third morning as prior day - haven't fallen asleep yet, but yawning. Is melatonin OK to use to make sure I get to sleep at night, or might that be counteracting the nuvigil into the next day? Should I expect some variability in the first couple of weeks regarding how awake I feel in the day and when it wears off in the evening? I have been on Vyvanse now for about a week and a half. I am only taking 30 mg and was diagnosed with Adult ADD. I am not sure if this is usual but I am feeling very sleepy. I see that a lot of people post that they can not sleep, well for me that is not the case. I feel like I am half awake through the morning and the afternoon. The medication seems to wear of in the late afternoon because I slowly start to feel more alert, my apatite comes back, and so does the symptoms of ADD. I have been getting headaches at night. When I am on the Vyvanse, I do feel calmer and able to deal with things better. It has helped with my anxiety which I believe was cause by being unorganized, late, and all over the place before. I like that about this medication but wonder if it's the wrong one for me...

It is ok to start taking this at night instead of the day/morning? In other words just take the day 1-3 at night 1st then add morning 4-7? I smoke more at night anyhow- I'm concerned about being drowsy right off the bat. Also my doctor prescribed ambien...is it safe the take these together? Ambien's lit says you have a higher risk of doing activities like sleep-walking(etc) if you take other medications that make you sleepy...? Any help or advice would be great. It's not really bad where I can't function or work. It's really easy for me to fall asleep at night. Aside from that I haven't noticed anything else. It really helps keep my seizures under control as well. I have been takeing soma for muscle spasms for a while know. Another doctor wanted me to try Baclofen 20mg. I found that the Baclofen made me feel a little strange and dopey. The Soma does not. I do like to take the Baclofen at night instead of Soma as it makes me very sleepy and does help me sleep better and longer. I like the Soma for dureing the day because it does not make me sleepy and can function better. When my body feels tired I experience more pain and spasm,hence the Baclofen when need to sleep. The 250 mg of Nuvigil I take in the morning kicks in in about 2 hours and interferes with my ability to sleep at night. The 20 mg of melatonin I take makes me slightly sleepy for about 20 minutes after which I'm wide awake, again. After 3 days, however, Nuvigil does not work. I skip 2 days, and Nuvigil begins to work again. It's difficult to schedule life. ## Melatonin actually doesn't help put you to sleep, it resets your internal body clock to restore normal sleep cycles, but it can take awhile of regular use for it to do so. i have 5 refills on my old meds.. I decided i really did not like the new pain meds he gave me. He gave me 2 paper prescription. I filled one of them and about 2 weeks later i decide i rather take the old med and i had it refilled. But, I realized that the old is not as strong as the new one and it helped with my pain so much beter. If i filled the paper prescription again i am worried my doctor will get mad at me for swiching back and forth. Will he know that i refilled the old pain meds and then went ahead and and filled the paper prescription again? I'm prescribed Hydroxy three times a day but I can only take it at night because it makes me sleepy. Is it fine if I take Zyrtec with it in the morning instead of all day long? ## What medication are you referring to? Do you mean Hydroxyzine? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?

I am finding that when I take my PRN (as needed) dose of IR morphine any time after 4 pm, no matter what I take, lorazepam, ambien, phenergan, soma that I can't fall asleep and if I do it's that "yen" type of sleep where I am kind of in a trance. I am finding that I need the PRN dosing more and more at night so what can I do to counter the effects. In the day it makes me sleepy but at night it's completely different. i take xanax daily and have been for years . I have taken as few as 2 and as much as 4 rarely 5. . They only make me sleepy if i take more than 3 a day . i took one that looked diff than the ones I normally take. It was still blue and round but larger and scored so much so it looked like it would be easier to break in 1/2.. some of them are scored but they crumble if you try yo break them in 1/2. Theyhad markings on both sides but don't remember & I have been sleeping on and off for 24 hours. I may sleep 5-6 hours a night but VERY RARELY ANY MORE .
