I am primary custodian for my 10 year old grandson. I've had him since he was born. I had an epiphany about my life close to 9 months ago and changed my habits drastically. My family decided that I was on drugs. So, one of them decided that they would call CPS. They came out and orally drug tested me and I was positive for crystal meth and methamphetamine! I take atenolol for high blood pressure and vitamins and that is it. How could this happen? The case worker told me that only two things give a false positive for that. (amphetamine salt that is found in 2 prescription drugs, neither of which I'm taking) They're letting me take a hair follicle test in a few days. How likely is this to repeat itself? Hi, can sudafed give a positive reading for methamphetamine? I was drug tested and methamphetamine was found. I don't use the drug at all. I am prescribed dexamphetamine for adhd and have been taking sudafed for 2 years when needed for my sinus troubles.

I'm on a methadone program that gives urine tests once a week and this weekend I was finally going to have my take homes for coming up clean for 3 months. But today they told me I failed for methamphetamine and I've never used methamphetamine in my life! I'm currently prescribed Clonidine .1mgs 3 times per day, Xanax .25mgs 3 times a day, Trazodone 100mgs at night, and Wellbutrin 350mgs once every morning. Would any of these cause a false positive for methamphetamine? I'm desperate to find out what the issue is because this is the second time in the past 4 months. I really don't want this happen again after I finally get my take homes. I'm going through some of the same things several ppl are that's WHY I keep asking the same question OVER & OVER. I HAD oxycodone, celexa, a 5mg diazepam early in the morning 9a.m. Got pulled over about 4:45-5p.m. That afternoon they took me to have blood work done. My mom is an ex addict and is against drugs now. She has some health issues and is currently taking different kind of prescriptions such as Norcos, Ambiens, Zanex and I think that's it. I take 30mg of D-amphetamine a day. That day I also took zantac for heartburn and a antihistamine for allergies. My test came back positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. I go to pain management. They had tested me and said I was dirty for methamphetamine. Now they say they cant give me my meds. But I don't use meth or any drugs. I am trying to get SSDI and was denied. They said they found ecstasy and methamphetamine which i do not use any drugs except what is prescribed by my doctor. About a year ago i was given fenofibrate and researched that it can give false results. I can not find out how much time must go by before it is all out of one's system. My hair said I was positive with only 2100 points on the chart. Could it be from my meds? ## One of the great features of hair drug testing is that it is good at isolating the metabolite that for a particular drug which reduces the incidence of false positives. The number 2100 most likely means 2100 pico grams per milligrams or 2100 pg/mg. That appears to be low or recreational use. As far as the meds causing a false positive I doubt it. My son use to take meth, but has been clean for over 70 days. He takes 60 mg ritlian a day, 20 - 40 mg lasix a day, potassium each day. On days that he has a migraine headache he will take 2 Excedrin Migraine tables with a can of coke, and repeat it every 4 - 6 hours until the headache goes away. He is on probation so has to have two or three urine drug test a week. Some come back as dilute, so they give him lead way on them as he takes the lasix and drinks lost of water working outside all day.
