I have been taking hydrocodone 10-325 for 8 or 9 years. And now my doctor wants to put me on oxycontin. I have never taken any before and he did not say what strength. What are the dosages??? Is it any better than the hydrocodone 10-325??? ## Hello, Tazman57! How are you? Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone, the medication is slowly released over a 12 hour period. It is stronger than Hydrocodone, you only need 6.67mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 10mgs of Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It's available in varying doses starting at 10mgs and going all the way up to 160mgs. Is there anything e...

If you cut in half a new oxycontin OP no matter the doses (10, 20, 30, 40 etc.) does it retain the same time release quality? I am dropping down and want to know if 2.5 is just that, a time released 2.5? A drop from 3 mgs will help with my goal to get to zero, asap. I don't want a sudden flood of oxy hitting my system. This is about detoxing..... ## Hello, Gantlope! How are you? No, it still isn't safe to cut them, you may still get too much of the Oxycodone. If you wish to taper off, it would be best to ask your doctor about prescribing the non-time released tablets, which you can cut. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipati...

Prescribed light color salmon/light pink round pill says 20 one side and ABG other side. Internet says it is Morphine. Prescription was oxycontin. Please advise ASAP. Were we misinformed by an Independent Pharmacy.? ## The internet shouldn't say it is morphine since morphine does not come in 20mg. It comes in doses such as 15mg, 30mg, etc. You have a generic form of Oxycontin 20mg. It is oxycodone 20mg. It is the same time released drug as the name brand oxycontin. It is a schedule 2 narcotic that is very addictive. It is used for moderate to severe pain. Side effects include nausea, euphoria, constipation, blurred vision, headaches, among others. ## ITS A OBLONG FOOTBALL LOOKING PILL, LIGHT PINK IN COLOR, NUMBER 93 ON ONE SIDE,31 ON THE OTHER ## It's the same thing. How are you? Well, there are higher doses of both of these medications available. Additionally, there is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available, it's called Oxycontin and is stronger than the Morphine in the MS contin. Learn more Oxycontin details here. There is also a patch that contains Fentanyl, it is stronger than both the Morphine and the Oxycodone. Learn more Fentanyl details here. These are narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipatio...

I have been on oxycodone 30 mg 4 times a day for years and it seems not to be working as well. Should it be ok to ask my Dr to up my amount taken daily? ## There are higher doses that your doctor can prescribe, though they likely won't direct you to take it more frequently throughout the day. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. There is also a time released formulation that you can try, if your doctor approves, it is available under the name brand Oxycontin. Are you on any other medications?

I went from 30mg of oxycontin to 20mg of oxycontin to Percocet 10-325 is my doses begin lower ## If your doctor approves, you can cut these tablets to continue lowering your dose, since the Percocet isn't time released. Alternatively, your doctor could also prescribe a lower dose for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been taking it?

how do I wean myself off of Oxycontin. Have been taking it 20 years ## Hello, Caryl! How are you? Usually, the modern preferred method is to have the patient start skipping doses, while gradually lowering. However, you will need to speak to your doctor for assistance, since this is a time released medication, so you can't cut it into smaller pieces to lower your dose. But your doctor can prescribe lower doses to help. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to offer?

IS THERE ANY THING STRONGER THAT MY PAIN MGMT DR CAN PRESCRIBE ME THAN A 30MG ROXY, he also prescribes 200mg of ms contin ## Hello, Dave! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. There is a time released form of the Oxycodone available called Oxycontin, you could speak to your doctor about switching to that, since it would be stronger than the MS Contin. There are also patches available that contain the potent narcotic Fentanyl, it's the strongest one available. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. To replace your regular release medication, if you prefer to do that, there are higher doses of Roxicodone available, as well as several other alt...

It's that time my pain manag. And I are getting togeather to change my meds I am currently on oxycodone 20mg 5 times a day. I was wondering about demoral. Thoughts I have cronic pain in my ankle and have have 5 surgeries to try to fix it with nonluck. Also what other long and short act meds should I look up that are stronger than what I am currently taking ## Hello, Mtothej! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Demerol isn't actually a good choice, because it's much weaker than Oxycodone. For each 20mgs you take of Oxycodone, you'd have to take 300mgs of Demerol to be equivalent. There are higher doses of Oxycodone available, including the time released Oxycontin that's taken every 12 hours. There are also patches available that contain Fentanyl, ...

This is to answer the question is there a higher dose form of norco the answer is yes it's called Zohydro it was made here in San Diego and has been approved by the Fda and Sea but it might be hard to find and the insurance company might not cover it, it's and extended version kinda like oxycontin for oxycodone and it comes in different doses. Fact not fiction. ## Just to clarify, Zohydro only contains Hydrocodone, in a time released formulation. It does not contain Acetaminophen, like Norco does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any questions or concerns? ## verwon you are just right as for the side effects but it comes in dosage as l...

So a friend of mine was trying to tell me that they make a 60,80 and 100mg IR oxycodone. Not ER oxycontin but IR, I told him he was crazy the highest mg they make for IR is the 30mg Roxicodone. He said they do make them in pill form but choose not to tell us about them because of the already crack down on opioids. I was just wondering if anyone out there has either seen heard of or ever had one of these pills. My guess is they dont make them. ## You are correct, the immediate release formulation of Oxycodone is only available in dosages up to 30mgs. The instant release is only available in 5mg capsules, and anything over 30mgs is only available in the time released formulation. There was a time other doses were available, but they were removed from the market due to regularly increasing ...

I have had serious shoulder pain since my 2 shoulder surgeries and I have a physically demanding job which makes it worse. Does anyone know who in the central PA area (Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, etc) that will prescribe the 15 or 30mg Oxycodone (Percocet)? I have such a high tolerance to the weaker Percocet and those doses are the only ones that take my pain away. I would appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks. ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? The maximum dose of Percocet that is currently available contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Anything that contains higher doses of Oxycodone would not be called Percocet, because it doesn't contain the Acetaminophen. If you're referring to Oxycontin, then that would be a time released formulation of straight Oxycodone, ...
