Weight Loss And Bupropion

I started on bupropion xl 150 mg, taking it to help with my libido ( 50+ years old going through menopause) and weight loss. Libido was great and lost a few pounds first week then nothing. Dr increased to 300 mg... I have been taking for 4 weeks, no weight loss and no libido.... I know this med can take awhile to work... any thoughts, will it begin to work soon? Anyone experience same thing? ## That's rather odd, while the FDA does list it as not being known to decrease libido, it is also not known to increase it in most people that take it. It is also not usually used, by itself to aid in weight loss, it is usually accompanied with Naltrexone. Hello I was just prescribed 100 mg of bupropion sr twice a day. It's a blue pill that says E410. I was wondering if this pill causes weight gain? ## Hi Ali, How are you? Contrary to what you might be experiencing, the drug monograph for Bupropion only lists "weight loss" as a general side effect, and nothing to do with weight gain in that regard. However digging a little deeper I did notice other individuals post their concerns about having problems with gaining extra weight while they were taking Bupropion. I have been on and off (mostly on) bupropion for about ten years. At first I loved it, great libido and weight loss. After I stopped taking it the first time I gained a ton of weight and depression returned. I got back on it but it wasn't nearly as effective as before. Over the years I've tried others that were better for my depression but I stopped taking them because of the weight gain. I always went back to the bupropion even though it no longer helped with my weight. I've been on 300 XL for about a year now. I'm not depressed but I still have no interest in things, no energy, NO libido whatsoever, and weight gain. I've been wondering lately if I should tapper back my dose or switch to SR to see if I have better luck. Any suggestions or similar experiences? ## Wha...

What pain medications are safe to take on Contrave? I have been taking Tylenol arthritis and glucosamine daily and am now starting the 2 and 2 this week. Also large hard to pass stools, so I'm taking laxatives as well, but don't want to harm my liver. I feel great on Contrave. I was on Adipex and all it did was make my mouth very dry and make me agitated. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I take Lortab for chronic pain, Gemfibrozil for high cholesterol, and Bupropion for anxiety. I have gained 40 lbs. Is it safe to take Lipozene (Glucomannan) for weight loss with these? ## Hi Katie, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions or contraindications listed between the medications you mentioned, including the addition of Lipozene (Glucomannan). I've been on Vicodin for years due to chronic pain. My Doc prescribed this for me and said it was ok to take together, but I'm not so sure - Any thoughts? ## Naltrexone can decrease the levels of Hydrocodone, since it blocks opiate receptors, while Bupropion increases the effect of it. But, it's likely that the Contrave will actually cancel out the Vicodin, making it ineffective for you. You may need to see your doctor and try something other than the Contrave, if you require opiate pain medications. I have been taking Bupropion XL 300 MG TAB ACT. I filled my prescription 3 hrs ago and i was given Bupropion XL 300 MG TAB ANC. I am feeling very strange. I was prescribed Contrave for weight loss. I also have a injury to my right upper arm and shoulder that has made me unable to move my my arm more than 6 inches forward, backwards and out to the side without causing horrible pain. My doctor prescribed Tramadol and occasionally Vicodin for pain relief. Fast forward 5 yrs. Opiod crisis. Doctor stops my prescription. Go thru withdraw and Pain is none stop. Prescribed for depression ## For years on wellbutrin I've complained of chronic adult acne, insomnia, and tons of anxiety and uncontrollable carb eating problems. Many many doctors. I think it is generic for wellbrutrin XL 300mg, but I'm not sure. ## It actually depends on the oval shape. if its got more tapered ends, kind of like an egg, then yes, it contains 300mgs of controlled release Bupropion, the active ingredient in Wellbutrin XR. I'm now on wellbutrin, but was recently prescribed contrave. Any info on stopping wellbutrin and starting contrave? The dosage I now take for the wellbutrin will be the same with the start of contrave. ## Hello, Angel! How are you? i am taking daxid 100 and bupron 300 daily 2 but still i have depression now then is it right treatment ## Hi. First, depression is a tricky disorder to treat because it is highly specific to each person. So, what works perfectly well for one person will not work for many others at all. Also, Bupron is a specific "generic brand" of bupropion, produced by a manufacturer in India. I personally have not consistently heard good things about it. For instanced, I've heard some of my colleagues say that the common bupropion side effect, weight loss, does not usually seem to happen with Bupron. So, there are some possibilities why this treatment may not be working for you.
