My blood pressure is now back to normal and I'm wondering if can just stop taking the losartan or do I need to wean off of it? And if I need to wean off of it how do I go about doing this? ## Hello, Laura! How are you? There is no cure for high blood pressure, it is a condition that must always be managed, so just because it's lowered with the medication doesn't mean that you no longer need the medication. Stopping it without your doctor's approval wouldn't be a good idea. If you stop the medication, even via tapering which is the safest method, there's a chance your blood pressure could just start to go up, again. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. Are you having some type of problem with the medication? ...

my husband is concerned about his hair loss..his hair stylist said it could be his BP med..should he try to wean off it and see? ## Hello, Melody! How are you? If he has high blood pressure, then he can't just stop taking a medication for it. He needs to speak to his doctor about trying a different medication. Several blood pressure medications can cause hair loss as a side effect, as listed by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However, not all of them do and there shouldn't be a problem with him trying a different one. Is there anything else I can help with?

If you are taking this to treat high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, and stop taking it, which could allow things to go out of control, you could be putting your life at...

Hi. I was put on Bystolic for blood pressure in June. two months into taking the medication I had such severe side effects. I had constant muscle spasms, muscle aches and pain that would come and go through my body, I could not focus, I had a burning sensation in my face with tingling through my body. It caused me to get depressed and develop bad anxiety. I weaned myself from 10mg to 2.5 mg and went to the doctor and told him and he switched me to 50mg Losartan. He switched it in August and then the doctor place me on Losartan. I felt good for the first few weeks. Almost 2 and a half months in and I am getting severe body aches that come and go, my anxiety is back and worse, severe sinus congestions and ear ringing and a congestion. So, as of Wednesday the doctor took me off this medica...

I take Losartan in the am and Paxil and Lipitor before bed. I find myself extremely tired and could sleep most of the time. I can't wait to got to bed. Is this tiredness due to the Losartan or Paxil??? If so I want my Dr. to wean me off of it. I was always extremely active...not used to this. Thanks,Carol ## Hello, Carol! How are you? The first culprit that I would suspect for such a problem would actually be the Lipitor. It is classified by the FDA as being a statin medication and they cause problems for many people that take them, in quit a few cases, people have had to stop taking it altogether. You may also experience nausea, headache and joint/muscle aches. There is also a chance that it would be a combination of all of them. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? How l...

My EP Dr told me to cold Turkey my Metoprolol 50mg bid and start Losartan once daily... is this ok? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Losartan as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and increased urination. Have you made the switch, yet? If so, how are you doing? ## I was given 30 mg of nefedipine and was weaned down from 50 mg to 25mg of metoprolol Cardiologist said she had to wean me down. ## I have been taking 25mg Losartan and 25mg Metroprolol along with Xarelto at bedtime for many years. I weaned myself off of it awhile back and the itching and bumps pretty much went away but my blood pressure went up so dr put me back on it. (He was not happy that I stopped taking it) has anyone else experienced these symptoms. Labatatol is the only new drug I started taking when I first started itching & bumps. Help!!! ## Has your doctor had you try any other medications to help lower your blood pressure? There are over a 100 on the market that might help, without causing such side effects. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Some of them include Metoprolol, Lisinopril, Candesartan, and Losartan.
