My husband's INR is at 1.5 should we be concerned...He has congestive heart failure and has a pace/devib also ## It really depends on what his doctor is aiming for, because in many cases, when they are using anticoagulants, such as Warfarin, they do try to aim for around 2.5. What has his doctor advised? Have they made any adjustments to his dosage?

I have been using Warfarin since Dec.'06, due to blood clot in arm,my stomach started giving problems, then I was put on Altosec. Strange thing is that I have been experiencing pain in my heel. I am trying to find the cause of the pain.When I get up in the morning I can hardly walk, due to the pain in my heels.Could this be a side effect of the drugs? My husband takes warfarin 5 mg. per day. He has a history before and after warfarin of being irritable. After I started giving him a 150 mg. of 5htp nightly, his attitude has been much better and he is in a lot better mood. I want to quit warfarin due to potential and actual bleeding . Had a two day nose bleed and still going. I was given warfarin because of afib. since then ( 9 months ) i have controlled my afib pretty well. I will see my doctor soon to get his input but wondering if I will experience any rebound or withdrawal effect ? my 82 yr oid aunt was told to take warfen cause she has iregular heart beat but she will not go on it. ## Has she discussed it with her doctor and told him that she doesn't want to take it? I take 3mg of warfarin daily. As supradyn contains vitamin K is it safe for me? ## It's highly doubtful, since Vitamin K can effect your blood clotting, it should generally be avoided, when taking Warfarin, usually you are even told to avoid foods that contain a lot of it, such as spinach. They may be able to adjust your Warfarin dose to accommodate for it, or help you find a supplement that doesn't have vitamin K in it. After a few weeks on a 5mg/day warfarin schedule I developed daily headaches in a specific area on the left side of my head. When I consulted my cardiologist I was told that warfarin doesn't cause headaches. I had to continue taking the medication because I had 2 previous episodes of atrial flutter. I had just changed my primary care physician and mentioned the headaches. He for some reason decided to check my vitamin B12 level. It was too low. I started taking a 1000mcg tablet daily. My headaches started to occur less frequently with less pain within about three weeks and after 8 weeks were gone. I have been taking Plavix for 3 years or more and now my insurance company says that is not on their approved list. I had a DVT in 2001 and have been on warfarin since. I've had no problem with it and go every week to get my INR checked which is no big deal. Hi I've been on warfarin for 2 months now from blood clots and I'm planning on going out for my birthday , I haven't drank anything since I was diagnosed but I really want to enjoy myself .I know the recommend intake of alcohol is 3 units but I was just wondering if I had any more than that ( say 5 units altogether ) would I be able to lessen the effects of the alcohol thinning my blood by taking some vitamin k the day before, day of and after?
