volibo m 0.3 is to be taken once or twice daily? ## Hi shri, Based on my research, the usual adult dose for Volibo (voglibose) is 200 to 300 mcg 3 times a day on an empty stomach, 15-30 minutes before meals. Always be sure to follow the prescribing information that was given to you by your doctor or pharmacist. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor used for lowering post-prandial blood glucose levels in people with diabetes mellitus. Voglibose delays the absorption of glucose and thereby reduces the risk of macrovascular complications. Postprandial hyperglycemia (PPHG) is primarily due to first phase insulin secretion. I would like to know the generic name of this drug (Volix) and any other information you may have on it. ## The generic name is Voglibose. Its available in 0.2 and 0.3mg strengths. There are only couple of manufacturers of this molecule. These companies manufacture on behalf of other companies and are marketed under different brand names like Vobose (USV), Voglistar (Mankind), Voglimac (Macleods), Volabay (Wallace), etc.. I am a diabetic for last 25 yrs. last 10 years I was taking tripride 2 before breakfast volivo .5 before lunch tripride 1 before dinner. but last few months sugar level was not coming down below 220. then new doctor prescribe tripride 2 before breakfast kombiglyze xr 5/500 before lunch and triazulix 2 before dinner. it works well. now problem is that my sugar level went below 72. I am a T 2 DM patient for last few years. The following medicines are taken for last few months. I have had high B.p since the last 10 years, high blood sugar for the last 6 years. I take medicine called jalra m, volibo 0.3, Trigilimsave forte for my B.P and I take losar H. My jar of pills has an strong odor that smells as if fumes of what smells like a herbicide and it seems to be more so as the days go by. The pills have a volitile like oder. What could this be? ## What type of pills are they? There are some medications that do have an unusual odor, that may get stronger as they age and some that should fade.
