Viibryd For Anxiety

Im now on my 6th day of the 40mg of viibryd. Im using the starter pack like everyone else. I'm on viibryd for OCD so since starting the 40mg I have noticed a decrease in obsessive thoughts. At first the 10 mg and 20mg made my obsessive thoughts worse but now at the therapeutic dose I can feel like I'm slowly getting better. Only side effects I've gotten is increased bowel movements, extremely vivid dreams and some lethargy which is good if your OCD and your always obsessing. I feel confident that this medicine will work and I might even ask to go up to 60mg just so my OCD can be manageable. ## hi, Steve! I have been on seroquel and buspar for about 4 years and my doc just added viibryd for the anxiety. Does anyone else take this combination and does it seem to work? My anxiety has gotten worse lately so he added this med. I started today with the 10 mg and supposed to do that for a week then 20 for a week and then the dose I'm supposed to stay on at 40mg. There is a high risk of developing serotonin syndrome, if you take both of them, which could be life threatening. I'd suggest double checking with your doctor, before taking them both. I'm 19. Had a bit of a panic attack/nervous breakdown last year while dealing with school and some other issues in my life. I went to a psych. She gave me some Viibryd (starter pack, of course) and I took it. 5/10/15/20 MGs. I stopped at 20MGs. This was over a year and a half ago, and I'm starting to have mixed feelings about Viibryd. It turned my life around at that point, for sure. I was able to handle my anxiety and get my life under control. But, 1.5Yrs later I'm still on 20mgs/day because of 1 bad day I had with my anxiety? Idk. I feel as if it's unnecessary. I actually feel worse on the days I take it. Stomach issues, etc. are things I don't want to deal with. Greetings, I just went to my doctor today and she is switching me from Celexa 20mg to Viibryd 40mg. I notice a lot of you have stated that you titrated the medication up to 40mg. My doctor is starting me off at 40mg and now I'm worried. I understand both Celexa and Viibryd are both SSRI's and maybe that is why she is starting me off so high!? Fellow viibryd folk, I am taking 40mg (been on it for approx 2 mo at this dose). In simply 24 hours I notice a need to take it or I begin to feel very anxious, and afraid. I'm not literally scared, but rather the feeling of having been frieghtened. It results in being emotionally constricted and feeling frozen to move. Have been on Viibryd for almost a month. Dr. having me top out at 20mg for now, so cutting 40mg in half. Initial stomach bowel problems solved by taking in the morning with toast/banana or steel cut oatmeal. My problem is that my anxiety level has shot a ton higher recently. Normal risks/worries with work becoming obsession like. I went on this drug b/c of one particular event at work that I was obsessing over. Now I am waking up at 4am, not able to fall back asleep, with thoughts running through multiple work related problems. Due to some mild anxiety and low level depression I was put on Viibryd two months ago to supplement the Wellbutrin 150mg I had been taking for a few years. I titrated up as scheduled from 10-20-40mg. Over the past six weeks my levels of stress and anxiety have climbed thru the roof, sleep has been awful, and sense of self-worth and usefulness has plummeted to levels I never felt before. Worst of all is a sense of depersonalization and complete loss of identity--it is very unsettling. At first I was a wreck, super high anxiety and depression and I cried several times a day. I think that might have been due to stopping my previous med Celexa though. I'm on day 8 of Viibryd and I really feel like it's starting to help. I take it at night when I plan on going to sleep soon because it gives me stomach upset, not really nausea either but a bad sharp burning pain above my navel. It's nothing that keeps me from sleeping but something I'd rather not deal with during the day hence the night time dose. There's so many scary posts written here that I just wanted to share my own experience so that those considering Viibryd know it can be a positive benefit. My wife of 20 years let me know that she wanted to leave me, I dealt with it fine for a while but then went into deep depression and had severe anxiety that prevented me from sleeping for 4 days. My doctor prescribed Viibryd for my "situational depression". It took 3 days to kick in, but once it did I started feeling much more like my old self. Do I need to wean off Viibryd if I only took for 2 weeks? My anxiety is through the roof and I'd rather just go back to Paxil and deal with the weight gain. I am 29 and have been dealing with depression and anxiety since I was 15. I have been on and off everything and it seems to work for a few months and then I get no benefit from it even with increased doses. In 2008 I started passing out or becoming unresponsive for a few seconds up to 15 minutes. They told me I was having non epileptic seizures due to stress. It was a stressful time in my life. I'm 28 and was taken off welbutrin and buspirone and put on viibryd 40mg I was not dosed up BC I was already on the others. It seems like I get sometimes severe anxiety if I miss a dose of Viibryd. I am 40mg's. Seems like it will start within 5 hours or so. Also I have burped A LOT since being on it and constipation seems to be worsening! I plan to speak the doctor about it but I wanted to know if anyone else had any of these problems. I hate to stop taking it because it seems to work better than anythink I habve taken so far. ## Yes, the anxiety is most likely a withdrawal effect and they can occur very fast with these types of medications. The gas can happen with almost any medication, you may be able to mitigate it by making sure that you aren't gulping when you take it and make sure you are taking with plenty of water. First day (morning) after taking Viibryd. Took my first 10 mg last night before bed. Slept ok. No weird nightmares. Regular 6/7 hours of sleep. But I do take Ambien. Did not take with food and was OK. Woke up with tummy hurting and had to go to the bathroom twice. (they're right on that part). But... best of all- I def. feel so much happier after just one dose. Not sure yet how it will work on my panic attacks/anxiety but so far I am hopeful. After trying just about all the other SSRI's that always did not work for one reason or another... I am currently on klonopin for about 4 years now...(.50 3 x's a day) my anxiety is bad, in a bad mood alot...my dr sent me home with viibryd i have never been on an AD before scared to take??? ## It's not any more dangerous or risky to take than the Klonopin that you're already using every day and, as a matter of fact, in some ways it has less risks, because it isn't known to be habit forming and addictive, like the Clonazepam in Klonopin. I was on zoloft 150MG I have been on it for 10 years didn't seem to be working as well so switched to celexa it made things worse. IF it's been 6 weeks, then this one likely isn't working for you, either. Typically, it should reach its full therapeutic effect in your body between 4 to 6 weeks and that's when you should start to see improvement. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, anxiety, dry mouth and weight changes. Have you contacted your doctor? You'll likely need to switch to another medication.
