I have been told by my doctors that they don't make vicodin 5.500 any more and keep giving me 5.325 but my neighbor has the same back injury and received 5.500 is the doctors office lieing to me ## Hello, Nick! How are you? In a way they are and in a way they aren't lying. And the reason I'm saying it that way is because the FDA has put out an official request to all prescription drug manufacturers to lower the amount of Acetaminophen in all of the combination medications to no more than 325mgs per dose. They did this, due to the fact that long-term use of high doses of Acetaminophen has the potential to result in liver damage or failure, plus there have been some overdose related fatalities, since many people thinks it's harmless and would take several tablets, at a tim...

does anyone knows if walgreens are gonna discontinue carrying this medication? ## Actually, by January of 2014, there will no longer be any of these combination prescription medications available that will contain more than 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. Due to a request from the FDA because of the risk of liver damage or failure associated with long-term use of high doses of Acetaminophen, as well as the toxicity risk associated with overdose, all such medications are being changed to contain 325mgs as the maximum per dose. Some manufacturers have already begun to implement the change, which has cause them to already be unavailable in some areas. Learn more Vicodin details here. white oblong tablet on one side it says WPI 2137 the other side has nothing ## I think those pills are actually Ibuprofen tablets. Ibuprofen comes in many different brand names, from non-prescription over the counter doses (100 mg) in Advil to prescription grade Motrin with doses of about 800 mg.

Is this white oval shaped pill marked with m367 a Vicodin or a Norco? I found this in my office at work and some tell me it's a Vicodin and some tell me It's a Norco. Either way I'm just trying to figure out who may have dropped it. ## Hello, Marie! How are you? Vicodin and Norco are actually the same medication, both contain Acetaminophen coupled with the opiate Hydrocodone, they are just different brands names for different doses of it. The one is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help wi...

How can I the generic Vicodin. I want my RX to state "generic for Vicodin" It used to say, Hydrocodone/Apap 5/500. Now when I get my refills it says Hydroco/Apap generic for Norco? Told they are the same so why do I need to take the Norvo in larger doses (2 pills each time) to get the same relief from one generic Vicodin? There must be something my Dr is writing on the prescription that causes this to occur. Thank you for your help ## Hello, Grandma52! How are you? Vicodin actually contained more Acetaminophen than the Norco does, it was available with amounts including 500mgs and over. However, last year, all of the tablets with the higher doses of it were removed from the market. Thus, Vicodin and its generics are no longer available. The maximum dose of Acetaminophen availabl...

Is there vicodin 5/325 or is it hyrocodone or oxycodone ## Hello, Ken! How are you? Vicodin is a trade name for Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, so they are the same thing. Oxycodone is slightly stronger than Hydrocodone and when coupled with Acetaminophen, it's available in the same doses. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

i need to know if i can take both intuniv and vicodin ## can mixing xanax and intuniv kill a person? ## Any possible problems would depend on the person, how much they are taking and how they react to the medications. Ideally, they both can be prescribed together, but a doctor should carefully consider a patient's tolerance to the medications and monitor them regularly. The doses have to be carefully considered, because they can both cause depression of the central nervous system. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Can you mix Intuniv with Oxy or Hydrocodone? Will I Give You A High Feeling?

What is difference in ingredients between Hydrocodone and Vicodin? I am trying to find out what is stronger: Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 or are Vicodin 500 tablets stronger? ## Hi Viv, To answer your question I first need to explain that Vicodin actually contains both Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen as the active ingredients. So in your comparison, both drugs contain the same active ingredients, just in different doses. Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 is a generic for Norco containing Hydrocodone 10mg and Acetaminophen 325mg. Vicodin 500 contains Hydrocodone 5mg and Acetaminophen 500mg. So the generic Norco which you have contains twice as much Hydrocodone (the opioid ingredient) but less Acetaminophen than the Vicodin. I hope that this makes sense, and let me know if you need any m...

It is generic lorcet 10-650. Just picked up a script. About the same as lortab 10, norco 10. And has less acetaminophen than vicodin. ## No, it doesn't have less Acetaminophen, considering this has one of the highest doses of it that's presently available in these combination medications, so I'm not sure who told you that. The most commonly prescribed doses of this narcotic medication contain 325mgs or 500mgs of Acetaminophen and this one has 650 mg. There is only one that's higher than this and it has 750mgs in it. However, what should be noted here is that soon all doses over 325mgs will be removed from the market in regards to these combination prescription products. Due to concerns about the dangers of organ damage or failure that can happen with long term use, as we...

Why in the world would someone with a limited hydrocodone habit of #60 5 mg. tabs for 2 months ever consider a suboxne protocol??? That level of hydrocodone wouldn't even necessitate a physical Withdrawl program would it?? Furthermore what kind of " specialist " would actually approve this?? IDK CAN SOMEONE ASSIST ME WITH THIS Many thanks ## Well, while Suboxone is intended for severe, long-term addictions, it has been found that small, short-term doses of it can help people that aren't really technically considered addicted. For instance, some patients that were taking opiates for pain, who've had trouble stopping them due to withdrawal effects, have been given short-term low dose Suboxone very successfully to help stop taking them. What may not cause one person to ...

My primary Dr only allows 1 pill 5mg - twice per day for a year. I need doulble that to control back pain. ## I need Pain killers for a lower back slipped disc and current doctor only offers one 5 mg pill twice daily that does nothing. I am in Western Sububrbs of Chicago (Naperville/Whaton) and looking for a NEW DOCTOR that will offer higher doses or alternate prescription medication ## Have either one of you considered seeing a pain management specialist? The issue here is that you've both been seeing primary care doctors, who aren't specially trained in the handling of such issues and thus, they may not feel comfortable doing so. ## I need to find a dr in Chicago who will prescribe pain meds. I have severe migraines I am currently taking 100 mcg of Duragesic patch changed every 48 hours and 5 10mg Vicodin. I have have bad reactions to preventative medications, chiropractic antidepressants and have built up a tolerance to pain meds. My pain is so severe I can't keep my food down. Does any one know if there is a higher dosage of Duragesic/Fentynal that would help with the pain. I am miserable and so sick I don't want to get up. ## Ask your doctor for vistaril it will cut that nausa down . It is both drugs giving you the nausea but you have to eat something .. Soup.. Canned broth ## Durgesic does come in higher doses. I've heard if 250 mcg. Be aware if you get a terminally ill disease such as cancer, this is what is used to treat it. Nothing stronger. ## I have canc...

If one IP 110 10mg/325mg doesn't work, will 2 work? ## This contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Vicodin, this is a narcotic pain reliever. The Hydrocodone could cause central nervous system depression, since it is a narcotic, so it is not advisable to double up, without your doctor instructing you to do so. In addition, too much Acetaminophen in a day can be toxic, so you have to be careful of it, as well. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? ## You can take two, I was taking 3 norco's my doctor said our bodies get used to the medicine after a while and need to try a different kind. Ask your dr. And see what he says. ## Severe spinal pain , and fibromyalgia. I took 2 10 mg. Norco. Is that OK? ## Can I take 2 narco 10 mg at once if in pain tooth has ...

I'm trying to manage pain for degenerative stenosis and see that hydrocodone is usually in 5 or 10 mg pills, while oxy, which is supposedly 2+ times stronger, is in 20 , 30 or 40 mg pills. What am I missing here? ## Originally, since it has the Acetaminophen added, the Hydrocodone products, such as Vicodin, Lortab and etc. were meant to be only for short-term use. Just to treat pain that was expected to resolve in a week or two, such as what someone may experience after they've had surgery or been in an accident. Currently, the government is trying to transition it back to being used this way, by restricting how much doctors can prescribe and for how long, though they haven't completely managed to do so, yet. (This would be the same as the original intent for Percocet, which...

Any suggestions for something stronger than vicodin? It really doesn't work anymore. I take two 7.5mg doses every 4 hours 3 x a day and A LOT of motrin. ## Wow! Does your doctor know that you are taking the Vicodin and Motrin? It is really not good to be taking both of those. The Vicodin contains Acetaminophen and the Motrin contains Ibuprofen. As to what else you can use for pain, there are many other options on the market, if the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin is no longer cutting it. One option that would be stronger is Percocet, which contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. However, you may wish to cut down on the Acetaminophen, especially with the amounts of it and the Ibuprofen you have been using and the Oxycodone is also available, in several formulations, by itself: You can also ...

Is their a difference between the two? ## I hace severe/chronic sciatica and the doctor has been proscribing Vicodin/hydrocodone for years......2 at a time and some days, as much as 4 doses. Recently he cut the tylenol portion so that it would be safer for my liver than the previous 10/660 and 10/500 tablets. Accordingly, he prescribed small amounts of Percocets (10/325 E712) and Hydrodone Norco (10/325) so that I could decide which worked better for me. My initial reaction was that 2 of the percocet compared to 2 of the hydro manifested mainly in drowsiness. I found the hydro to be a bit more effective for pain management and I was able to function, feeling good, whereas the Percocet only made me want to sleep, groggy and a bit out of sorts while still feeling a good amount of pain: Qu...

I had back surgery in July and was given Norco for about three months. Tapering was some of that. I didn't know that Norco was like Vicodin which the doctor knew I couldn't take. I went from high doses tapering down for three months not knowing that that was what was making me sick. I've been off for five months and have felt horrible all this time. Weak, tired, stuffed head, just sick. What do I have to do to get well.? I had depression about 20 years ago but got well with ECT and anti depressants. I've been taking Effexor and Xanax all this time and have felt wonderful. Now this has made me sick again. Could this have caused more depression? ## Hello, Chris! How are you feeling? Are the doses for Lortab and Hydrocodone identical? I.E.: does 5/325 Hydrocodone = 5/325 Lortab, etc? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? Yes, they both contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so they are the same. There are several different brand names for this combination medication, some of them are Lortab, Vicodin, Norco and Lorcet. The lower number (5) is the amount of the narcotic Hydrocodone that's in it and the higher number (325) is the amount of Acetaminophen. Learn more Lortab details here. One of the contraindications while taking Neurontin is using opiates such as Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and Oyxcodone (Percocet). The opiates potentiate the effect of Neurotin by 14%. With Morphine, it increases the effect of Neurotin by 44%. My husband was on Neurontin at 900 mg a day (taken in three doses). At that time, he was not taking much of his pain killer, Oxycodone (Percocet), maybe one 5mg dose a night. My husband was originally took Neurotin for shingles nerve pain. His doctor decided to increase his dose of Neurontin to 1800 mg per day (three equal doses). Before that time, my husband increased his Oxycodone to two 5mg tablets before bedtime and another 5mg tablet about four hours later. Upon the increase in Neurontin, my husband started to experience some adverse effects. These...
