Why is Viractin so hard to find? Is it being discontinued and if so, why? I've used it for years in conjunction with Abreva for cold sores and I love it but it keeps getting harder to buy and I don't understand why when it's such a great product! ## Viractin contains the active ingredient Tetracaine, which is a local anesthetic used to numb the area, topically. I'm not finding any specific information, but it appears that the company that makes it might have discontinued it. It's made by Medibrands and they no longer list any information about it on their site and most online sites that listed it for sale say it is currently out of stock. I don't know which one might be available in your area, but many products use a similar ingredient called Benzocaine, so you m...

gel caps(green) once a week. I,m not getting enough vitamins D. The dosage seems rather high. markings-03 ## I take a Vitamin D and D3 supplement which I take once a day. Its 500iu.. Not sure what the difference is, since there is an i in mine. How ever if you are taking this pill once a week, and I am taking it daily, and i multiply mine by 7, it comes out at 3.500. iu. So yes, it does sound as though its a lot?! ## That is high, but if you have been deficient in it, it is normal for your doctor to want you to take a higher amount for awhile, to bring it up to a safe level as fast as possible. Learn more Vitamin D details here. I've had to do it with Vitamin D, since I tend to run low since moving to Washington, as well as with Potassium and my B Vitamins. How low were you?

Can gelemicin cause flesh eating bacteria allergic reaction? ## Hello, Deborah! How are you? Flesh eating bacteria, necrotizing fasciitis, is an actual bacterial infection, not an allergic reaction. I believe what you're meaning to ask about is Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, which is the result of a hypersensitivity reaction to some antibiotics. And yes, there is a risk for it with Gelmicin, just like with virtually all other antibiotics, though it is a very low risk. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I am trying to find the name of a prenatal vitamin I took during my first pregnancy. It was a brown oval softgel and I thought it smelled like chocolate (not taste). It may have had an imprint in white but I am not 100% sure. It was expensive, about $1 a pill per month. Hope you can help - thanks!!! ## Hi Martha, Can you possibly recall any sort of logo or details on the product packaging by chance? Since there are so many vitamins on the market (Rx and OTC) it would be near impossible to locate a specific pill based on smell, color, and shape alone. Right now the closest match I'm finding is a chocolate colored brown gel capsule; which happens to be a Prenatal Vitamin Complex with Omega-3. From what I could tell, there's no apparent marking, but without any other details, this ...

the soft gelatin capsule of evion is from animal origin or what. . is it derived from pigs or from what source ## I'm sorry, but since these aren't available in the U.S., I have no information on the inactive ingredients. Have you tried asking your doctor, or a pharmacist/chemist? Most gelatin capsules are of animal origin. The active ingredient in this product is Vitamin E, so it is a nutritional supplement. My hair, skin and nails vitamins say take 3 gel caps daily, should I take all 3 at once? Or take 1 three times a day? Thanks. ## Hi Amy, From what I understand, if it doesn't specify on the directions that you should take it in divided doses then it's probably best to just take them all at once; although in my opinion, I doubt it would hurt if you did divide your dose. The Garden of Life multivitamins I use actually say that I'm supposed to take 4 capsules daily, but then it goes into detail stating that it's best when taken 2 capsules twice daily. However, I've taken it both ways and feel that 4 capsules all at once gives me a much more noticeable boost in my energy levels than spreading it out evenly. It may all come down to personal preference in that regard. I ho...

My Doctor prescribed 50k units of vitamin D as he said my count was extreemely low last year and I took them with no problems. On my recent physical its still low so he gave me another prescription. I am unemployed with no insurance and cannot afford them. So I took the old container which had three left which expired 5/30/2011. I felt like all my bones were sore, I was dizzy and I had two days of sleeping all the time. I was eating healthy, skim milk, organic soy milk, eating yogurt for breakfast and taking tums when I have issues with stomach due to eating spicy foods. I was taking calcium pills and taking my blood pressure and everything seemed ok. Should I take Calcium when taking this high dosage. I cannot call doctor as its too expensive to see him. I found a whole bag of dark red/maroon gel capsules In my sons room. I opened one and it had some kind of oil in it as well as a soft dark red substance. I know it's not pharmaceutical. I also figure if it where vitamins they would be in the bottle not in a plastic bag. I'm trying to figure out if this is a steroid or other illegal drugs. I have noticed a few messages on here about people describing pretty much same pill found in their kids rooms. It's not round at the ends like say Advil liquid gels. It's actually more bullet shaped on both ends. Any help at all would be most appreciated. ## It actually resembles a kidney bean. ## Hello, Nikki! How are you? I'm sorry, but so far, I haven't been able to find anything that matches this description. I'm leaning...

Ive been given the Fentanyl patch made by Aviva by my local pharmacy. Before this ive always gotten the Gel filled brand. The Aviva brand are causing side effects as you may have read in my previous post.I called my Pharmacy and told them about this and they said Every brand of Fentanyl patch is differant and this type is probably too strong an i may need to reduce the strength per my next doctor visit.I was curious if i could just cut these in half an see if it helps?Any replies would be appreciated. ## Yes, it seems there are some that are safe to cut, but you should never do so, without checking with your pharmacist, first. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drows...
