I have had recurrent UTI's since getting married in November last year. I have been treated with different antibiotics several times. Now the doc has put me on nitrofur macro 100 mg for 6 months. Is this usual treatment for recurrent UTI's? Also would I develop resistance to it? ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? I'm sorry about the UTIs that you've been getting. I have started having pain & am sure it is a UTI. I have these Dicloxacill 250mg & was wondering if this will cure my problem. ## Self-diagnosing is never a good idea, especially with a urinary infection, first of all their are antibiotics targeted to treat it much faster and while it could very well be exactly what you suspect, there is always the chance that it isn't, it could be a vaginal infection, bowel, kidney or one of a number of other things, so your best bet would be to see your doctor and follow their advice after diagnosis. My sister frequently had urinary infections requiring treatment, then the last time, she was absolutely certain from the symptoms that it was another one, but her fiance took her to the emergency room anyway, turns out she had no infection at ...

I am going in for a uterus treatment and the doctor had me take a urine culture 7 days prior. Twice, the culture came back as positive and the doctor postponed the uterus treatment. I had no symptoms of the UTI. He then prescribed Nitrofurantoin 100mg once a day for a month prior to the next appointment for the procedure. Is this the right antibiotic for my situation? The dosage? Anything else I might add to rectify the positive result of the culture? ## It is appropriate and the best choice of drug. I am also on this drug everyday in the same dose of 100 mg. I take it to prevent UTIs because I get them all the time. This antibiotic only treats the urinary tract so I understand why your doctor prescribed it. Hopefully the next result you have will be negative. If anything is going to wo...

how many tabs should be taken to treat UTI? ## nothing ## I am afraid that this seems to be an over the counter supplement touted as a drug alternative for urinary problems. That said, it is, therefore, not proven to actually help with anything. I can't even find information on what it contains or exactly what they recommend you use it to treat or prevent. Urinary tract infections normally require an antibiotic, which is prescribed by your doctor, according to the type and severity of the infection. Have you consulted a doctor regarding the use of this or your possible need for an antibiotic? Self-treatment could result in a more severe infection and illness than what you are already dealing with. I am going to try to see if I can find any more information on this. Is there anything...
