Used Fentanyl For Only 3 Days Withdrawal

I have been on Fentanyl 100mcg/hr, In vivo delivery of 100mcg/hr for 72 hours and I change them every 2 days instead of every 3 days so the amount of medication doesn't drop too low. I am wondering how the withdrawal is with this drug. How severe, how long it takes to get out of your system and if there is another drug used to help with the weaning? Does one need to be hospitalized & under a doctors care? There are also other drugs involved- Hydromorphone 8mg,2 every 4 hrs,Tizanidine 4mg 2/4 times daily,& Baclofen 10 mg 1 twice a day. ## Ask your doctor about Suboxone. it is a truly miracle pill. you will have absolutely no problem at all going through withdrawal, i personally know for a fact that suboxin will supress all symptoms and will keep you energized, like youve neve...

Hi all. I have seen a lot of posts in the drugs forum about Fentanyl withdrawal. I too have been struggling with the withdrawal symptoms for 10 days now. Trust me when I say it DOES and WILL get easier. I know that if you have just recently started a taper or have gone cold turkey because a taper hasn't worked for you, you're probably not feeling very well right now.Trust me when I say it will get better. It may take weeks to finally feel normal again, but the worst will be over before you know it! I was on 100mcg/hr for about a year, and just recently tapered to 12.5 but went through withdrawal anyhow. Here are a few things that might help, and that have helped me get through the worst of it. ****REMEMBER***** To consult your doctor before pulling yourself off any medication :)...

I sit with a 73 year old lady. I take care of all her meds and refills. I thought she had a refill on file...long story short, she didn't. She is on 25 mg patches. Her patch was supposed to be changed this morning at 9 but they wont be ready til mnday morning. Should I give her as needed lortab to keep her out of withdrawal or will she be fine til Monday from Saturday? ## HI Cheryl, I believe that the lady you care for should be fine until Monday since it's only a couple days and there should still be some of the Fentynal medication in her system. However, if you she doesn't get the medication Monday she might experience some signs of withdrawal ie: nausea, vomiting, insomnia, headaches etc.. You may want to consider refilling her medications a week ahead of time just so you ...

I knocked about 2 weeks worth of dilaudid down my sink by accident when I was brushing my teeth yesterday morning. I saved 4 pills. I take 4mg-4x per day and was switched last month from morphine to fentanyl 25mcg patches every 72 hours. I have been on the dilaudid for 5 months. I'm very concerned about the withdrawal I'm going to go thru without my meds. Do you think the patch and a few leftover morphine pills from last month will help my situation? Will they make the withdrawal go away faster? I also have 2 subutex pills that are older. Should I take the subs or will they put me in a precipitated withdrawal with the patches? I don't see my doctor for 13 days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please help. ## Please be careful with the fentanyl. I'm going thru so...

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more. ## Yes, that can be caused by withdrawal, you probably jumped down in dosage a little too fast. This med is very, very strong, 80 times stronger than Morphine and it has a half-life of 17 hours, so that means once you take off the patch, it takes 17 hours until it has dwindled to 50% off the full dose in your body, then it slows and actually takes 3 or 4 days before it is all out of your system. So if y...

Ask your Dr. to give you lomotil & levsin..these will counteract & get youthru the irritable bowel that is accompanying this withdrawal. I used demerol to get off that HORRID KILLING patch. ## If Pat has a post on...

So, this is my situation. I was on Fentanyl 75, and oxycodone 15 for breakthrough pain.my pain stems from a bad back which led me to have three back surgeries and still have inj's. radiofrequency ablation's with not much success. I just moved back here to AZ from Colorado and saw my previous p.m. Dr. Because of Swimming I've had a couple patches falloff and even lost one in the pool. So when I went to the p.m. Dr. he wouldn't help me wean off fentanyl cause I was 10 days early on the script. Even taking my oxy 15 I had horrible withdrawals. Headache, ears ringing, restlessness and worse to me restless legs. My p.m. Dr. said he would switch my patch to something different and wean me down but not until a months time. After complaining and explaining the pain that I was go...

After my patches were taken on a beach trip mith several families, I am currently on day 9 ofwithdrawals. Exhaustion, calves spasming are bad,but the chills almost seen worse and unbearable at times. Had major back surgery in November and was treated for pain using the patches for nearly 2 years. I've been through opiate withdrawal oncebefore, but this is nearly debilitating. I've not slept in days. ## Did you report the theft to the police? If you have a police report, your doctor may be able to help you. What types of symptoms are you experiencing? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, diarrhea, anxiety and rebound pain. ## Day 12 now... IT is going crazy up and down..IT is anxiety..I know, well, I THINK, but I have just gone down one dosage and don't understand WHY it is still doing it after 20 days or do I just need more time..HOW LONG?? And how long will it take me to get this heart rate issue gone? Should I attempt to get it out faster? Hi all, I was on 50mg patch and lots of tablets. I have Behçet's disease so the patch helps a lot. But I'm fed up being like I'm on another planet some days so I spoke to my doctor and he said to lower it to a 25mg patch. This is my 3rd day. The first couple days I was very sleepy but now my whole body is aching and I can't relax. My body keeps shaking, I can't sit still and it's now 2.30 am and I'm wide awake. Is there anything else I can do to help? Many thanks. ## Hello, Chris! How are you? That was a pretty big dosage change, so such withdrawal effects are normal, as listed by the U.S. FDA, you may also experience rebound pain, fever, chills and diarrhea. Has there been any change? A slower taper would likely be better. ## What other medications are ...

IF I ONLY USED TWO 50 MCG FENTANYL PATCHES, REMOVED THEN WITH SIXTY HOURS, HOW LONG WILL IT BE IN MY SYSTEM? ## Hello, Olivia! How are you? Fentanyl is a very strong opiate that can also be habit forming, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine, so it's possible to experience withdrawals even after just using it for a very short time. The half-life for Fentanyl is approximately 20 to 27 hours, that's the amount of time it will take to reach 50% in your body and full elimination takes 5 to 6 half-lives, so that would be 100 to 162 hours (4.17 to 6.75 days). With will most likely start around that 50% mark. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Having only used it for a short period of time, they shouldn't be severe, but you may still experience chills, fever, nausea, dizzin...

I have been on the 100 mg patch and Percocet for my Crohns and Colitis for years. Last week I went cold turkey on my own recognizance. I had my 2nd colostomy surgery which elevated my pain mostly, hence quitting. I am having insomnia and terrible joint pain but never had I been more clairvoyant in years. I take Advil for my back and work out 4 days a week which helps sweat the toxins out. Exercise releases natural endorphins which are like a synthetic morphine so my specialist says. Its up to each individual to face their own truth. When you're ready to quit, you know. I wouldn't advise you to do what I did but that's always been my personality. I quit smoking this way as well. Its not for everyone. Good luck all. After the storm comes the sunshine, TRUST ME! ## HI Iceman, T...

Being weaned off of fentanyl. Just need to talk to others about it. I've dropped down from 100 to 75 it's been a month. Sometimes I have no appetite for days at a time. Now my whole body is aching really bad. I was put on this after I had sugery on my cervical spine and after I found out later that my back was just as bad and I couldn't stand the pain. They started me on a low dose and increased until I was doing ok. I just want to mentally feel good again. ## I am so sorry about what you're going through. Everything you've described are normal withdrawal effects, though. You will likely experience them for awhile each time you lower the dose. How fast are you tapering? ## My Dr says it will be a long process :(. I've been on the 75mcg for a month and a half. The...

I am now down from 12 mg Fentanyl patch to half, 6 mg. As I suffer from anxiety, I'd like to know if that can be one of the withdrawal symptoms? What are the other withdrawal symptoms? ## Yes, that can be a withdrawal symptoms, others may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, chills and fever. Learn more: Are you working with your doctor? They may be able to help you with some ideas on how to alleviate some of the symptoms. ## I've been on 150 mcg of fentenyl, yes that means two patches at the same time. I also take 15 mg. of oxy 4X a day for over 2 years. This is for 39 years of Rheumatoid Arthritis, since I was a senior in highschool. Hi, About three years ago during treatment for rectal cancer, I was given Dilaudid and Fentanyl as part of a pain management program. During a 10-day hospital stay, Dilaudid was injected sub-q every half-hour by means of a pump, and Fentanyl was injected by nurses when necessary (4-5 times a day). After discharge from the hospital, I kept the Dilaudid pump but, fortunately, Fentanyl was no longer required. I stayed on the pump until surgery 6 weeks later. Dilaudid was administered for another 10 days after surgery, but since the cause of the initial pain (a large tumour) had been removed, I no longer needed the medication. Withdrawal was limited to a couple of days of shivering (this was during a heat wave). My question is this: how long after taking medications as powerful as these doe...

i have been on fentanyl 25mcg for about a yr. i am decreasing to 12.5 mcg for a week and then no more patches after. how long will it take to considering the info. will it take for the withdrawal to start and stop. i understand everyone is different. i will be taking valium 5mg for a couple days to ease the effects. any info would be great. ## Yes, everyone is different, so it really makes it hard to say, because it is going to vary. I stopped heavy doses of Oxycodone and Morphine cold turkey, after being on them for about 6 or 7 years for pain management and my withdrawal symptoms lasted for about a month. Hopefully the Valium will help. Has your doctor given you any other advice? ## Thanks for ur info. Several yrs ago I stopped fiorcet w codeine (on it for 4 yrs) and it took about tha...

I've been on 75mcg fentanyl patches for about a year. I started having some issues with my blood sugar and sweating that I thought were from the patch. Then this month I found out my wife had been using them so I spoke to my doctor about changing. On 3/4 he switched me to 50mg nucynta er twice per day. Told me to discontinue the patches immediately. I did and had the left overs destroyed or whatever they do with them. I was fine for about a day and a half. Then started feeling very anxious and nervous. I would note the first night I did have hives on my arm but they went away quickly and I associated them with someone's body spray. Now it's been 5 days and I haven slept in 3. I have hydrocodone but I'm only supposed to take no more than 4 per day but my doctor hasaid tol...

My husband has used fentanyl patches for years for chronic pain. He's been on the lowest dosage for at least 2 years and suddenly he's having terrible withdrawals for no reason. He has been on higher dosages before and the lowest dosage is good enough for his pain. These withdrawals are a nightmare for him and me. He had withdrawals then 2 days later withdrawals again even though both times he had a fresh patch on. Does anyone know why this would happen? Does a body just decide to reject it after a length of time? The patches are fresh, he used some from this box already, so it's not the batch of patches. ## Hi I used the patch n went down did not have withdrawals he shouldn't be Id quite taking them and get to the Pharmacy good Luck ## Hi AGrandma! My pain doctor was out of the country for 2 months. I was seeing her P.A. who was amazing. I hadn't planned to stay with this new pain doctor anyway she was horrible. Anyway, I called for over a week to ask the nurse what I should do because I couldn't keep the fentanyl patches secured and used more of them, I was on my last one. I called everyday and left a message. She calls me back saying I couldn't get any refills until my appt. In 4 more days. I pleaded with her that I'd read the leaflet and feared the extent of the withdrawl. No answer. So I took some old (expired) meds that I had so I could fight the withdrawl. I brought them with me and told the P.A. While I was there what I did. She sympathized and seemed to know there were issues like this. I found out that day...
