After viral in last week of august again i had dengue From october 03. on oct 10 i came out. But My fever remains 99 to 99.6 throughout the day. My doctor gave me Augmentin 650 but no relief, Stomach tab but no relief. At last My doctor gave me oflox 400. Dr keeps giving this for backache. Have authritis in my back. 70yrs old. This does not help!!!!!!!!!! ## He's giving you Ofloxacin for it? That makes no sense, this is an antibiotic, used to treat various types of infections, it will NOT help with pain and Arthritis. Have you tried asking why they are prescribing you this? My 1yr old son has been prescribed Ofloxacin suspension for watery Diarrhoea that he has been suffering from for the last 4 days. Ofloxacin has been banned in the US for its "reversible & irreversible injury to the musculoskelital system in children" as one website said.What do I do? Is it of any use in diarrhoea? Just want to know if extended release ofloxacin shold be taken once or twice daily ## Hi viv, The "usual adult dose" is taking 200-400mg every 12 hours for 7-10 days; depending on the type of infection and how severe it is. Although I can't confirm it, I do believe that this is pertaining to the extended-release version of the drug, since it says "every 12 hours"; when typically these types of drugs are more or less like every 4-6 hours or so. I also find it odd that your prescription doesn't have a label with any information on how or when to take it; if anything but for your own general safety.
