I am Diabetic type 2 and would like to know if I can cut the Glizide in a half to help reduce my symptoms? I read the prescription and it stated no but the pharmacist still suggested that I cut it in 1/2. Please advise. Thanks. ## Hello, Stephanie! How are you? You should take the dosage prescribed by your doctor. What symptoms are you experiencing? However, they are usually transient and will go away, once your body gets used to the medication.

I am now taking GLIZID 80 mg two tabs twice a day and Glycoment 850mg one tab twice a day plus Acarbose 50 mg twice a day. Now doctor advises me to take Glycomet 1gm in place of Glycomet 850gm . I find that Gycomet 1mg is in the XR form. How much metformin does Glycomet 1gm contain? What is the benefit of switching over to Gycomet 1gm (Extended Release)? Would it help more than Metformin 850gm (Regular)? Moreover, no metformin tablet 1gm without being in SR/XR form is vailable in the market. Kindly advise ## Is there any difference between glycomet 1gm and glycomet Sr 1gm. Doctor has prescribed me glycomet Sr 1gm but it is not available in the market. Only glycomet 1gm is available. Being diabetic, I am taking pioz 15 & glizide M daily after meals but sugar level remains 160. Pl. suggest may I continue or consult our doctor. Pl. also inform whether 160 is normal blood sugar level after meals. ## It is normal for there to be some elevation after meals, but there are also some other relevant things that should be taken under consideration. The first is, you said you are taking them after you meal, this means that if you are checking your blood sugar level right after you finish eating, the medication hasn't even had a chance to start working, yet. Ideally, these medications should be taken just before a meal, ...
