TYSABRI Natalizumab

Natalizumab, sold under the brand name Tysabri among others, is a medication used to treat multiple sclerosis and Crohn's disease.[3] It is a humanized monoclonal antibody against the cell adhesion molecule α4-integrin.[3] It is given by intravenous infusion every 28 days.[3] The drug is believed to work by reducing the ability of inflammatory immune cells to attach to and pass through the cell layers lining the intestines and blood–b...

I have MS and infuse with Tysabri. I am having severe muscle spasms. I am allergic to Lyrica, Baclofen, Methocarbamol, all prednizone drugs, etc. I take Dilaudid for pain as I also have a frontal-lobe brain tumor. I do go to a pain clinic, but my insurance BC/BS has denied my claim for muscle relaxants. Apparently, my pain clinic cannot prescribe Soma. I suffer from migraines and I am asking what can be prescribed for severe muscle spasms? Thank you. ## Hi Rae, sorry to hear about your pain. There's another thread on this site asking about Diclofenac in conjunction with Tysabri. I checked both the webmd and medscape drug interaction tools and nothing was listed between those 2 drugs. Have you asked your doctor about Diclofenac? I'd be really interested to know what they say. Alt...

I take Tysabri for multiple sclerosis. I am struggling with arthritis pain, as I can't take immuno suppresant therapy with Tyasabri. My only drug allergy is to sulfa. Is Diclofenac an option? ## I checked several interaction databases and none of them listed any problems with taking these two drugs together. Of course, the best judge of what is safe for you to use is going to be your doctor. ## What pain pill can help nerve pain from a severed arm, plus chronic ankylosing spondylitis? ## I receive a Tysabri infusion for M.S. - Can I take Diclofenac for muscle pain?

I will be starting Gilenya in May. I have a 3 month washout period from Tysabri. I will be on Copaxone for 2 months. I was wondering how long it took to start Gilenya from the time they put the paperwork in. The nurse said must have aall the prereqisites done foirst not more than 1 month before and they will put paper work in 2 weeks before i am to start. Does this sound right. Thanks laurie f ## Gilenya contains the active ingredient Fingolimid, it is used to treat relapsing MS. It may cause some problematic side effects, such as: slow heart rate, headache, head cold and fatigue. As to the paperwork, the pre-requisites are actually more to do with your insurance/coverage than anything else, so I am afraid that I don't know anything about that. This medication has been FDA approved,...

I took my first dose of ampyra today and after 7 hours I had a terrible reaction. I have bad neuropathic pain in my legs, and about 7 hours after the dose, I felt like the neuropathy had been kicked up about 100 times. I literally felt like my legs were on fire. I jumped in the pool and immediately called the neuro's office to report the problem. I was told to stop it immediately, which I am very disappointed about. I had an allergic reaction to Tysabri, couldn't take Rebif, have problems with high dose steroids, and now this. I am pretty much to the secondary progressive stage, although I had a massive attack 15 months ago, and am now on Copaxone and Avonex duo therapy since 2/09. I was really hoping Ampyra would help with the walking, (now on a walker) but because of all my al...
