771 ## My husband has been taking Hydrocodone 5-500 for 10 days. It is not helping his back pain. Can he safely stop this narcotic after 10 days with out withdrawal symptoms, and can he start taking extra strength Tylenol right away? ## A round white tablet with the 771 marking is distributed by Paddock Laboratories, and they list it as containing 325mgs of Acetaminophen, which is a generic, or store brand of Tylenol. I took lortab and extra acetaminophen for years, then in 2012 found myself with an ulcer in my stomach. Wound up having over half my tummy removed! I took two Tylenol #3 and 4 hours later took a hydrocodone. Will I be ok to go to bed? Or will it hurt me? ## Did you experience any adverse effects? How are you doing? What was the dosage of the Hydrocodone? There is a risk of depression of the central nervous system, according to FDA reports. I have been reading some information, and I am wondering if Tylenol 3 is the same as Hydrocodone? ## Based on my research, Tylenol 3 is composed of two analgesic or pain-relieving drugs: Acetaminophen + Codeine. But "NOT" Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is alot like codeine, except that codeine is said to be a natural derivative of opium plants whilst hydrocodone is synthetic. Is Hydrocodone the same or contain the same ingredients/drugs as Tylenol 3 with codiene? ## From what I could gather, Tylenol 3 is composed of two analgesic or pain-relieving drugs: acetaminophen + codeine. Inactive ingredients complete the composition of this medication. So to better answer your question, hydrocodone is not the same, nor is it even contained in this medication. You might be thinking of norco or lortab, which contain a similar combination of acetaminophen + hydrocodone. Both medications are used for pain relief, but I'd consider hydrocodone to be much more potent than codeine from my own experience. I take 3 Tylenol 4's a day & just got 7.5/325mg hydrocodone today. Would lortab 10 or tylenol #4 be stronger than 7.5 hydrocodone? I did not get the script filled yet. Thank you. ## Loratab 7.5 is somewhat stronger than Tylenol 4, and normally preffered by pain patients over the codeine in the 4's. The 10's are stronger than the 7.5's. No, they have not done anything different, but some medications work better for some people than others, which is why there are usually multiple choices available in any given drug class.
